Avid reader of most fantasy stories... to the point I sometimes can't stop until I catch up to the latest chapter if it's a really good one.
A small advice to authors: Don't ever drop/rewrite or delete your stories. If you want to end it give it a proper ending.
The story you may be unhappy with is followed by many people instead of rewriting make it better moving forward.
If you don't respect your readers the will stop reading expecting it to just be another half assed flop you change your mind on mid way.
Welp, as for why Fate's mother is the way she is, remember that it's not exactly modern times where basic human rights have been established. Plus, it's a world full of magic and monsters, and Agatha is fully devoted member of the church. I'll get more into their ideologies and doctrine later in the story, but thanks for reading and commenting!
Also, thanks for pointing out the inconsistencies(not sarcasm, btw), which is something that Starlight used to do once in a while, so it's a bit nostalgic. Anyways, I can only hope that you'll be patient with me until such time as I get around to explaining the backstory and how Fate's life seems to take such convenient turns to mold him into what he will become(Though just from the title, you can take a guess).
