I've taught classes on how to use the I Ching (yijing) & been a psychic consultant on a serial killer case. Currently I'm researching bigrams (digrams or ssuhsiang), trigrams (baqua), & tetragrams that can represent aspects of anatomy, biochemistry, biology, medicine & psychiatry... for a series of books I plan to write on medium to advanced methods of using the I Ching professionally.
I have also researched how the I Ching can represent some of the memes and TV tropes (found in both fiction & reality) ... so if an author wants to know how the I Ching can represent a specific scenario or plot twist, I might be able to come up with an accurate portrayal that would be of interest to his or her readers.

Is there a guide in English to Yijing? It seems like a highly developed form of fortune telling.
(I) Hidden criteria that must be fulfilled for more extensive or effective use of the YiJing: (a) Identify and overcome bias, prejudice, and preconceived ideas to phrase question free of them. Otherwise, YiJing will be talking about your bias, then the question you should have asked, then the question you actually asked. (b) Many texts state people should only do 1 YiJing reading per day as not enough qi. Practice Qigong, Tai Chi, or Yoga to do more.
(I-c) Mind of the questioner should not daydream, guess answer, or wander to future questions while doing tosses to get answer to posed question ... or comments about everything will be entangled. (1) Client asking about workmate when more than 1 workmate has the same first name will entangle information on both of them if client's mind wanders between them ... even if last names and DOBs are given.
(I-d) All hermetic uses, based on Tarot or Kabbalah (Qabalah), do NOT add valid meanings that can appear in YiJing readings. (1) Hermetic meanings of trigrams are used to try to siphon power from the YiJing to use for black magic. (2) Comprehensive lists are in "The Eastern Mysteries" by David Allen Hulse. Trying to uncover genuine divination meanings from these lists is possible, but beware traps.
(I-d-3) A. Crowley intentionally changed material or gave false information to 'mislead the uninitiated'. (I-d-4) A few yin-yang alignments are on one side in the Chinese system, and on the opposite one in Western European Magic. (I-d-5) There is a hidden conflict, over many millennia, between what the Tarot was based on, and what the YiJing was based on.
