In my story, Reborn as a Slave, God is "supposed" to be good but is in actuality proud and incompetent. Most of your assertions are correct. People don't like to die, God would not respond well to him killing himself and thus rejecting his "gift" made in apology when he didn't have to. Also, in most religions suicide is a one way ticket to punishment of one form or another.
