Oh, hey! With this chapter of ADBTW, I broke 200k words on SH! Yay, me!

Happy New Year, everyone! I've had a nice rest, knitting while catching up on a bunch of dramas, but I'll get back to writing soon. My resolution is to get both of these stories finished before my birthday in June. They are both nearing their finales, so I think it's do-able. I've been taking an accidental break, but I should make it official. Weather and holidays just have me too muddled. Chapters are percolating in my head, I just can't get focused to write them out right now. I'll get back to it and resume updates after New Year's. I hope the remainder of 2022 finds you all happy and healthy and in good company!

New pics in the ADBTW glossary for Yanek, Thelan, and Nal. I have realized that none of them really got a good physical description in-story, and I'll have to fix that in revision. These are about how I see them, though.

New portraits in the Salvage glossary for Amelys, Brandra, Yilina, and Gorvan.

I've just done a bunch of housekeeping for Salvage. First, character portraits for Kazia, Kel, Tam, and Zhen. They are in the glossary and in the intro chapter. I've also overhauled the synopsis on the series page, and revised the intro chapter and moved the map there. Would anyone be willing to check those out and let me know what you think?

And Meira has joined the cast portraits in the glossary for ADBTW.

There is now a Kyrzhan pic in the ADBTW glossary if you'd like to take a look. Artbreeder will only let me make him look younger than he should, but I figure 1) he does wear makeup and 2) he has a lot of money, so he can afford the good skincare.

Treats for ADBTW readers! I made some some character portraits in Artbreeder. They're in the glossary now, and in Chapter 0 with the map. I'm so sorry it's not an update, but I'm actively working on one and it should be here soon. I'm doing portraits for Salvage, too, but Tamyn is being a problem child, and I really want him to look right.

New update for Salvage. This one was a job of work, and is why everything has been held up, including ADBTW. You know, writing smut would probably be easier if I didn't put all this philosophizing in. Probably more popular, too. But no, I've got to have folks contemplating life, the universe, and everything while they're doin' it. Well, you can pry my artistic integrity from my cold, dead... wait, how popular are we talking?

I recently discovered Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator, and two solid days of obsessive hyperfocus later, there is now a map of my little world of lovelorn alchemists. It's in the glossaries of Salvage and ADBTW if you'd like to see. Open in a new tab to embiggen.

Today is my birthday, and it's one of those painful ones (although I'm still on the right side of the ground, so it's a good day), and I've stayed up all night to kick off my personal new year by getting some writing done, hopefully presaging continued motivation for the rest of my year.

If you're reading Salvage - I know I said you don't have to read ADBTW, and you don't, but I need to tell you that I just wrote some stuff in this latest chapter that might give you a good laugh if you are reading Salvage. I can't stop laughing about it myself - this guy really does not like Alchemists.

Maybe it's a bit gauche to sit here laughing at my own jokes, but hey - in these pandemic times being a fully independently self-entertaining unit is the best way to live, right? Right.
