The twins were woken up.

Maybe it was the absurdity of the situation or the suddenness of it,

I mean all they remembered was playing with their friend, and now they were waking up in a red pulsating room with walls made of flesh that contained many mouths. These mouths were open and had tightly clenched white teeth, which emitted strange waves of laughter. The laughter was unsettling and made them shiver all over. And after they accepted this harrowing scene they had to come to terms with the fact that they were kidnapped by seven masked people.

They started screaming at the top of their lungs, but no voice came out of their mouth because of number four using a gu worm.

They were completely terrified, holding on to each other tightly for comfort. Their minds were clouded with confusion as they struggled to make sense of the situation. They were overwhelmed by fear, rendering them speechless and unable to move. Their hearts were pounding in their chests like drums, as if something terrible was about to happen. They were whimpering, seeking comfort in each other's presence. The masks were looming over them like sinister shadows, making them feel even more vulnerable. Tears were blurring their vision as they longed for the safety of their home. Each moment felt like an eternity of uncertainty and dread. In their young minds, they had so many unanswered questions that were terrifying. Together, they silently prayed for someone to come and rescue them. Their bond as twins was their only source of strength. After less than a minute, they both stopped yelling.

Bai Sheng took a deep breath, he seemed like he wasn't afraid anymore, a kid waking up in such a place and seeing 7 masked men, He was young but was calmer than an adult facing this predicament. The brilliance of a future star was already being displayed in him.

Who are you people? Why are you wearing masks?  What do you want? How dare you kidnap us? Release us, and you all won't have to face our mother’s wrath!

Clan head scoffed, “Like we would be afraid of your mother? We need you to do a few things for us, do it, and then we will release you.”

Bai Sheng took a deep breath then nodded while calming Bai Hua by massaging her head.

"Do you see these mouths in the walls?".

Clan head explained the details and let these brothers and sisters go about knocking the teeth.

Barely a moment had passed when Bai Hua cried out in fear.

In front of her, a mouth opened up, its scarlet tongue extended, and revealed a quail egg-sized bone ball.

The ball was covered with black and white stripes, making me associate with an animal from Earth — a zebra.

Clan head quickly walked over and took this Gu, his countenance changing in pleasant surprise.

If he wasn't wrong, this was a movement-type Gu — footless bird.

This Gu could only be used once, but its body was big, and it could fly thousands of miles.

However, this pleasant surprise was just the beginning. After a while, Bai Sheng also achieved success.

He knocked and opened a mouth, a bone was revealed on its tongue.

The two ends of this bone were smooth and round; the middle part was long and slender; and there was a greenish glow to the bone like a green jade Stone.

Jade bone Gu!

Clan head held it, before immediately refining and putting it into his aperture.

Jade bone Gu could remodel the Gu Master's skeleton into that of a jade-like quality, making the bones harder and more supple. This effect was permanent like black and white boar Gu or the crocodile strength Gu.

However, this jade bone Gu was a one-time use expendable Gu. It also had a shortcoming; the Gu master would suffer from extremely intense pain when using it. A lot of Gu Masters with weak willpower have died from the pain of using the jade bone Gu.

Group members looked with surprise, They all turned around in anticipation, increasing their efforts in knocking the teeth.

But this action was purely relying on one's luck. There were ten pairs of teeth in a mouth, and one needed to at least knock five teeth in the correct order for the teeth to fall off.

They didn't know this brother and sister were the true-fated owners of this inheritance. Fate was a type of otherworldly, magical, mystical strength; especially in this world, some rare Gu worms contained the fragments of the law of fate, giving some lucky Gu Masters a grasp of some powers of fate.

However, after some time, Bai Hua and Bai Sheng again gave pleasant surprises.

Bai Hua knocked down another set of teeth, providing an Iron Bone Gu.

And the mouth Bai Sheng knocked, gradually opened wide, changing into a new secret tunnel.

Such luck of the brother and sister made the group inwardly gasp in surprise.

Since the new secret tunnel had appeared, the group didn't think of staying any longer.

One group member was told to stay in this chamber and try different combinations on the teeth.

Eight people entered the giant mouth cave including the two twins, one was in the flesh sac secret chamber trying new combinations by knocking different teeth in different orders, and another was with Bai Cha in the outer tunnel.

The group came upon a hall as they walked through this secret tunnel.

Number seven knocked Bai Sheng and Bai Hua unconscious, carrying them in each of his hands as he followed behind the group into the giant mouth.

...

This was the widest bone hall they had come across.

Just from the area alone, it was over 2 squire km. In the center of the hall was a bone pyramid; the peak was flattened into a platform with two flights of stairs leading to it.

The group looked at around, there was nothing else other than this bone pyramid.

After checking their surroundings and noticing no dangers, the group walked to the platform at the peak of the pyramid.

...

There was a sculpture of a skull of a giant ferocious beast on the platform; it was taller than half a man and looked like a lion or a tiger, with tightly closed fangs

"It looks like the sculpture of either a lion or a tiger skull, isn't this the rumored mechanism which needs two people to cooperate?" A thought flashed in Hwang Gu's mind.

"There are words carved in this sculpture's fangs." The gang made a discovery, they then began to read the carvings in a low voice: "Gemini with one mind, three spirits unite. Fated or not, do not be forceful... what does this mean?"

"This is the code to opening the mechanism in this place. Gemini means two people should work together to open the mechanism. Three souls indicate a person's mind, palm, and eye. Among the four limbs of a human, the palm was the most nimble; among the five organs, the quickest were the eyes; and the human's mind could think as fast as a lightning spark. Hence, they were called three spirits." I said this and then asked them to Wake up the twins.

...

"Evil thieves, what do you want?!" Bai Sheng angrily shouted after having woken.

Bai Hua, however, didn't cry anymore, her two big eyes were closely gazing at everyone with deep hatred.

In front of the gate, “Come here, put your palm on the pupils of the sculpture,” I said to the twins.

There was a translucent, pure red gem in the eyes of the skull sculpture. The red stone was as big as large porcelain bowls, and it reflected the figures of everyone, it also reflected

The twins placed their palms separately on the pair of red gem pupils.

They were truly the inheritors decided by fate, the moment these two's small hands touched the red gem, it let out a bright light

Creak...

Creak...

Creak...

The skull slowly opened its mouth and revealed a large pile of coal stones and dry wood. In the center of the black coal stones was a simple-looking pottery container and a scroll lay on it.

"What is this?", Hwang gu picked up and read the scroll before coming to an understanding.

It turns out the owner of this inheritance, Gray Bone Scholar, didn't have a high aptitude; thus he was distressed about his cultivation throughout his life.

All his life, he put all his efforts into researching a type of Gu that could help a Gu Master to quickly cultivate.

There was already plenty of cultivation assisting Gu worms; the most typical being the liquor worm. However, these Gu worms were mostly very rare and would be very difficult to popularize.

Gray Bone Scholar's aspiration was big, he wanted to research and refine an excellent Gu worm that could be widely used.

However, even when his lifespan was at its end, even after countless failures, he wasn't able to achieve success.

At the final juncture of his life, maybe heaven took pity on him, when he was setting up the white bone mountain inheritance, he suddenly had an extremely ingenious enlightenment.

What was the main method to quickly raise a Gu master's cultivation without the help of the specific Gu worms?

It was to let an elder impart his primeval essence…

At Qing Mao Mountain, Gu Yue Chi Cheng will be receiving such help, receiving the refined primeval essence from his grandfather Gu Yue Chi Lian.

However, this move has a big disadvantage.

It was the mixture of different primeval essences, relying on an elder's higher-ranked primeval essence to wash and refine the aperture walls that would leave behind his aura in the aperture, causing a Gu Master's future development to be greatly restricted.

Unless one used cleansing water Gu to cleanse the mixed aura.

However, cleansing water Gu was also a rare Gu and ordinary Gu Masters would find it difficult to obtain it. Even elder-level characters would have to rely on luck or pay a tremendous price.

Thus, the imparting method also couldn't be widespread.

Hence, Gray Bone Scholar thought of a wonderful concept.

If there was a Gu that could refine another's primeval essence into the Gu Master's primeval essence, wouldn't that mean there would be no mixed aura after imparting?

He began making a series of attempts and after removing most of the possibilities, he made a plan which had the highest probability of success.

The name of this experiment was —"Bone Flesh Unity Gu".

This was what was written in the scroll: To refine this Gu, two Gu Masters must work together. These two Gu Masters must have blood relations; Parents and children or twins. Relying on the connection of the blood lineage could transform the primeval essence.

However, Gray Bone Scholar didn't have enough time to put this concept into practice. After having made most of the preparations, he could only helplessly stop at the final juncture.

Although he had two nicknames, he, however, was only one person. What he lacked were two Gu Masters who fulfilled the criteria.

The final content on the scroll clearly revealed Gray Bone Scholar's endless regret.

He did not have enough time to redo the preparations, and could only leave behind this blueprint. If someone fated was to arrive at this point and could open the mechanism and see this scroll, that would mean the Gu Masters who met the conditions had appeared!

"There is no harm in trying it, no matter what the result, please convey it to my gravestone." These words in the scroll contained a lifetime of obsession of Gray Bone Scholar.

It turned out that this pyramid that Hwang gu was stepping on was the tomb of Gray Bone Scholar.

There was no need to try though, I already knew the idea of bone-flesh unity Gu was a success. In the novel, in Fang Yuan’s first life, Bai Sheng and Bai Hua — relying on this dual cultivation — had become the twin stars of the righteous path, pushing the might of the Bai Clan towards the peak with their rank five cultivation.

According to the description on the scroll, bone flesh unity Gu was a series of Gu and didn't refer to just one type of Gu. And the deeper the feelings between the two Gu Masters refining this Gu, the better the quality of the refined bone flesh unity Gu.

...

In my younger years I almost thought of every possibility, and the paths I would choose if my original plan wouldn't be a success.

Well my original plan was to use the twins as refinement material to refine the bone flesh unity gu, and after they get refined, I will be bound to whomever I am refining the bone flesh unity gu with, so, only the person who helps me in refinement of the Gu, is also the only person I will be able dual cultivate with. In this scenario, I asked Hwang gu to refine bone flesh unity gu with me, so after we refine the gu, only Hwang gu will be able to dual cultivate with me.

I had already thought of asking Gu Yue Bo to help me refine the bone flesh unity gu, but I dropped the idea. Dual cultivating with clan leader had its pros and cons. It would be really helpful in my cultivation to receive the primeval essence of a rank four, but the problem was that he is a really busy man, and it’s possible that he wouldn’t help me in my cultivation as it might take too much of his time, but the bigger problem is that he might not be able to successfully refine the bone flesh unity gu, he's no refinement path master and neither is he a direct family member of mine, so he might fail and that will cause my whole plan to go down the drain.

I had also thought of doing this refinement with fang yuan, if the twins didn’t succeed, because he is a direct family member and will be of huge help if we refine bone flesh unity, but I dropped that plan, because Fang Yuan does not have high cultivation nor high aptitude, so if we both refine the gu and dual cultivate, only fang yuan will benefit from that while I will waste my time and not be able to cultivate fast enough. Thus, this was the last option for me.

I had already considered many other things and people for this refinement, but I dropped them after careful consideration.

After considering every option, I had made the decision of refining this gu with Hwang gu.

...

In Fang Yuan's first life, the bone flesh unity Gu was refined by Bai Sheng and Bai Hua. However, now many years have yet to pass, and although the two have strong feelings for each other, they are not yet Gu Masters and therefore cannot meet the necessary requirements for the refining process.

Bone-flesh unity Gu was my primary inheritance goal. Gray Bone Scholar had already prepared the materials and forge, but refinement was still necessary.

...

“Number two please awaken their aperture,” I said looking at clan head.

"Please listen to me number three, there is a recipe for refinement, I have in my mind, though there are some tweaks and improvements that are needed to be made… so the crux of the matter is to create a recipe using the fresh flesh of blood relatives with close relationships, such as twins… and getting them to pour their primeval essence at those certain times before throwing them in and… and … we could do this as well…." I tried explaining to Hwang Gu as best as I can, I told him everything that Fang Yuan wanted to do in his refinement of bone flesh unity Gu that remembered from the novel.

...

After approximately 4-5 hours, all the Gu master’s left the room as instructed by the clan leader. The only people remaining in the room were the twins, myself, the clan leader, and Hwang Gu. Hwang Gu expressed that the recipe he had worked on was quite effective. He had optimized it to the best of his abilities within the given time. The chances of the recipe being successful were estimated by him to be about 80% to 90%. If given a week or more to further refine it, the chances of success could be raised to 90 to 95%. Hwang Gu appreciated the suggestions I provided and believed that my refinement path talent was the reason for him making the recipe even more successful. He praised my refinement path talent.

“It is more or less related to the way I was able to learn how to open the caves and tunnels after seeing them”, I replied

“Ohh so it is related to your revelations, how Convenient!  It will come in handy in the future.”, Hwang Gu exclaimed.

“I couldn’t tell him that it was the 500-year experience of Fang Yuan that helped us create this Demonic recipe of refining children into gu”, so I just nodded.

...

During the time Hwang Gu was creating the recipe, the clan leader had already forcefully  awakened the twin's aperture and taught them how to control their primeval essences in their aperture. Everyone in the group was taken aback by how well they were using their primeval essences; it was clear that they were naturally talented. Bai Sheng was discovered to have an extreme aptitude, which came as a surprise to everyone, including me, as it wasn't mentioned in the novel.

These individuals were true geniuses unlike myself, but a fraud like me will succeed by faking it.lol.

Hwang taught them the steps on how to refine the gu, All they needed to do was pour their primeval essence in three steps of the whole process and pour themselves in after that. Though   “themselves in part” was kept a secret.

The twins were told that this was why they had kidnapped them and this was the only thing they needed to do. After this, the group will release them.

Both the twins did as they were told, They poured their primeval essence at the perfect timing, and they did the whole thing perfectly. The refinement had reached a stage where Gu Masters had to cut off their flesh and blood and pour it into the refinement cauldron to make this recipe a success.

...

Hwang gu nodded at the clan head, All of us knew what had to be done.

It was all done efficiently; clan leader removed all the clothes from this pair of brother and sister, then carrying one in each hand, he threw them into the fire.

As the flames licked their skin, they felt a searing pain that engulfed them completely. They found themselves in the midst of a fiery blaze, their voices swallowed by the deafening roar of the flames. They frantically searched for a way out, but the intense heat seemed to constrict their movements. Overpowered by fear, they lost all sense of hope or understanding. In that inferno, they could only feel excruciating pain, could only comprehend terror, and could only wish for a merciful end.

‘Bai Sheng was screaming in terror, praying for heaven to grant his sister a merciful end and spare her from the flames of agony.’

The moment they were thrown into the fire, the heat and severe pain attacked them as they tried to madly flee. The two jumped out from the fire with their limbs crazily moving about as they desperately struggled.

Clan head took a deep breath, before kicking them back into the fire.

The scroll stated that it required fresh flesh. As such, after he kicked them, they again ran out before he kicked them back in again.

This continued over and over, until Bai Sheng and Bai Hua were finally burned to death.

...

Looking at them at times, and hearing them throughout the refinement process, I tried my best to comprehend what they experienced.

‘Their experience was deeply distressing and tragic. The twin children were kidnapped and burned alive for no reason by an unknown perpetrator wearing a mask, the emotions they might have felt were probably intense fear, confusion, helplessness, and overwhelming terror. They were likely unable to comprehend why such a horrific fate was befalling them, and the suddenness and brutality of the act would leave them in a state of shock and disbelief. I analyzed after listening to their screeching’

"I thought I was ready for this, but the emotions and thoughts I'm having are far too complex to deal with. I feel a sense of guilt, horror, and moral anguish for even suggesting such a heinous act, even if it was meant to help me. At the same time, I'm in disbelief and revulsion at witnessing the actual act being carried out, regardless of its intended purpose. The conflicting emotions of gratitude for the assistance I got and horror at the actions being committed are creating a slight sense of internal turmoil and moral conflict within me."

‘I'm sad because of their death, but it had meaning and that meaning was bringing a great new gu to this world that I would use. I am not responsible for their demise and to be honest, I am the victim here, I was forced into this world, I had to suffer so much and I haven't even killed them personally, It was clan head, clan head burned them to death, I didn't? Why should I be sad? And even if I did have a hand in their death, so what? If they did not die and give me this great gu then I will have to die or suffer badly three years later. It's either me or them. Simple as that.’

Wait...Wait I studied this in psychology in my previous life, it went like…

In my previous life, I studied sociopathic behavior in psychology. It was explained that if someone is a sociopath...

:- He would not feel guilty or remorseful for his actions. Rather, he would focus on preserving himself and maintaining superiority at all times.

:- He would justify his crimes as necessary to achieve his goals and view them as mere obstacles. To convince himself that he is doing society a favor, he would manipulate his beliefs and remove those whom he deems inferior.

:- If caught, he would not take responsibility for his actions and would either blame others or portray himself as a victim. In the end, he would use manipulation to justify his actions and prioritize his interests over the harm caused to others.

"Wait...All of those points align with my thoughts. In my previous life, I had a slight feeling that I was slightly sociopathic, but it was often overshadowed by the demands of modern society and the fact that I had many loved ones who cared about me. However, looking at it logically, I believe that I could be a borderline sociopath.”

'Wait why am I even rationalizing my actions, This is a totally different world with an extremely different sense of morals and this world is filled with sociopaths and psychopaths, so technically I'm doing this world of favor, ugh… I am making more excuses to justify my actions, I don't need to justify anything. This world is cruel, so I must be cruel too.'

This is it! This will be my path- “I will prioritize my own needs and desires, while disregarding others and I will do whatever I want, but only if I can… hehe.”

...

Their bodies resembled candles as they slowly melted; the fire turned from an eerie blue to scarlet blood color.

However, the fire transformation slowed down and didn't change to reddish-purple.

The clan head gave me the knife at this moment.

I didn't hesitate to hold the sharp blade. I had prepared myself for this moment.

Furthermore, I stretched my forearm and slashed, blood started flowing rapidly, and I threw my flesh into the fire which was now blazing higher than a man's height, and changed Its color to a reddish-purple.

The scroll had stated, the color of the fire had to change into reddish-purple for this step to be considered a success.

In the novel, Fang Yuan failed only because Bai Sheng and Bai Hua were not Gu Masters. Thus, this Knowledge was the key to my success.

...

Both bracelets were of color red, they were tied together like two jade bracelets, and quietly let out warm luster as they hovered in the air.

"This is the bone flesh unity Gu?" Without taking the time to carefully investigate, I took it and instantly refined it, storing it in my aperture. A newly refined gu’s will is very weak, Thus I was able to refine it instantly.

The bone flesh unity gu worm stood still, motionless like a dead creature. Its scattered will felt my aura and didn't do anything, so I took the opportunity to mobilize his primeval essence.

My green copper primeval essence drove straight in, flowing vigorously without resistance. There was no obstruction at all. The green copper color on the surface of the bone flesh unity gu worm rapidly expanded. In a few winks, the once pearl-white bone flesh unity gu worm was fully dyed green. With that, the bone flesh unity gu worm was fully refined!

“I refined it!”, I exclaimed.

All three of us showed a joyous expression as if we hadn't burned two children to death.

1

*name of the gu type; Bone flesh unity Gu contained five types of Gu worms:-

  • The worst quality was the fratricidal Gu which converted ten percent of primeval essence into one-fifth of it
  • Friendly relation Gu which converted ten percent of primeval essence into two-fifth of it
  • Indissoluble relation Gu could transfer three-fifths
  • Familial relation Gu could transfer four-fifths
  • The top blood kin relation Gu could transfer a hundred percent of the primeval essence without any loss in conversion.
