Kai's whole body trembled as he thought about one single possibility, one thing that could singlehandedly change the tides of the war.

But there was one underlying problem.

Why the hell was everything lining up so perfectly?

Kai had way too many encounters that just seemed to work out way too perfectly. Being paired with Noelle was way too perfect as he would one hundred percent be dead without her help.

Every skill he picked had inadvertently saved his life, some on more than one occasion.

While that could be called a coincidence, it happened way too many times to just be scratched off as a mere coincidence.

Then there was also meeting Sofia with the help of Failure, that meeting also impacted him much more than he could have possibly imagined when he first met the red haired woman. She saved his life, gave him advice to do with various different things and was the main reason why Kai decided to apologise to Noelle in the first place.

Then, there was the whole diary thing. While it was The Ever-changing, his master, who told him where the diary was, why was it even there in the first place?

What God had given the long dead princess to store her memories in a bead and hide it in a tree, hoping someone would find it?

Like, what would have happened if Kai didn't find it? The diary, Ethania's Will and the Miracle Bead all would have eventually been corroded, erased from existence.

But it wasn't, Kai found it and now that diary was going to be the catalyst for the possible victory of the moon beasts, all because one innocent red haired boy happened to stumble upon it with the help of his now MIA master.

So why, why did it all line up so perfectly? It was way too perfect for it to be normal, but what was normal anymore? What Kai considered normal could be considered strange on wherever he was going to end up if he survived the tutorial, so did he have any right to complain about it?

It could all be chalked down to Kai being extremely lucky, but how lucky would be have to be for it all to end up like this?

Still, as long as it worked out in his favour, Kai would allow all the strange happenings to keep occurring, as long as nothing too strange happened that is.

"Failure..." Kai swallowed hesitantly. He had no idea how rare a Miracle Bead was, so he at least wanted to ask first.

"How rare is a Miracle Bead?"

Failure frowned slightly, confused by Kai's seemingly random question.

"A Miracle Bead?" Failure paused. "Why, they could be considered fairly rare in the vast scope of things, but majority of the stronger empires, kingdoms, cults, etcetera have quite a few in stock. I'm surprised you've even heard of a Miracle Bead, where did you hear it from?"

Kai grinned nervously as he summoned another item that had been residing in the depths of his soul, also unused since he first laid eyes on it.

A beautiful golden bead appeared in Kai's palm, the small sphere radiating an auriferous aura. Kai couldn't help but swallow as he gazed down at the small orb, he also couldn't help but read its description one more time.

Miracle Bead (Legendary)

Allows a miracle to occur when eaten. There will be a 1000 year cooldown for the consumer before they can consume another Miracle Bead.

"I didn't hear about it from anyone" Kai chuckled hesitantly. "I found one myself."

Failure's eyes widened in shock as he looked down at the golden bead, a look of realisation forming on his now attractive and less weary face, a welcome sight.

"My gods Kai, where did you find this?"

Kai lifted the golden bead up to give Failure a better look as he answered the charismatic man's question.

"In the same diary I found Ethania's Will in. There was a small hollow at the back containing both of the beads I showed you."

Kai was certain of one thing that he had been contemplating the last minute or so.

Failure really did not have any idea about Ethania's diary.

Which was confusing in itself. He would have been with her at all times, so when would she have gotten the free time to write all the entries that Kai had read?

Unless she had done it when Failure was sleeping, but for some reason, Kai got the feeling that he didn't sleep often while they were on the run, probably even less after that whole spider incident.

And there was also the whole fact that Ethania hid the diary in a tree hollow, inside a forest that Failure created. How on Earth he hadn't found it previously Kai would never know, maybe the tree was there before Failure created the forest, thus he wasn't actually connected to it and couldn't sense it.

That was Kai's only idea about it anyway.

"My dear Kai, are you sure about this? Even though I said that majority of the more powerful factions posses quite a few of those, Miracle Beads are in no way cheap or common. That could sell for a lot more than a lot of the things I could offer you."

Kai looked down at the bead curiously. Was it really worth that much? He didn't really know what it meant by create a miracle, but it had to be something useful if it was worth a lot of money.

But then Kai blinked and looked blankly up at Failure.

"What use is it if I don't live to sell it in the first place?"

Failure blinked in return, a stunned look in his deep green eyes. Laughing one more, Kai smiled down at Kai as he spoke once more.

"I suppose you are right, how silly of me to forget that. Well, if you are sure about it, I suppose we could give it a try."

Kai smiled in response as he lifted the golden bead to his mouth, its shine reflecting in the back of his throat. But just before Kai ate the bead, an idea popped into his head. A question he wanted to ask Failure for a while, a burning thought that had been haunting him for weeks, and now, he was going to demand answers.

"Failure, why did you always call Sofia, Noelle or John Sir and Lady but you always called me My dear?"

Failure smiled proudly as his whole see-through body emerged from the bark of the Mother Tree, a soft green light emanating from every part of him.

"Because, my dear Kai" Failure sighed softly. "Unlike your companions, whom I share no connection with, I view you as a friend, the same way I view Aldred as one. I have learned a lot from peering through your memories, and even more through your mind opening conversations. That is what earned you the title of My dear, a title only possessed by two others."

Kai blinked, feeling a little embarrassed by the unexpected answer.

"And who would those two others be?"

Failure grinned.

"Princess Ethania and my dear sister Sally.

You know, you remind me of Sally, you have the same facial features, and kind of the same body shape. She always thought she would never attract a husband due to her thinking her bosom wasn't large enough, but I knew she would eventually find the one. She was young, and Subdimensions are vast after all. If the perfect one isn't in your current one, they could be waiting in the next one you visit."

Kai wasn't sure if he should be proud or upset that he reminded Failure of his long dead younger sister, but he would allow it for today, it faintly reminded Kai of his own family as well.

"Thanks..." Kai sighed, making Failure laugh.

"Don't take it to heart, I mean it as a compliment. Sally was a good girl, an excellent worker, I don't know what I would have done without her."

Failure then winced slightly, the pain of the past still burdened him heavily.

"She was also taken by that perverted bastard. His moon doomed that whole kingdom, I was the only survivor. It was worse before, you didn't even have to look up at the accursed thing for it to kill you, you just had to stand in its light. Luckily, it's effects weakened over the years."

Failure sighed and shook his head dismissively, they had to get back on track, otherwise they would be talking for the remainder of the war.

"But that was in the past, we have new opportunities now. We shall be the ones to stand victorious in the end.

Ah, I wish we had that device from your world, that radio. I would quite like to listen to that song from that John fellow, the one about still standing. I feel that would fit the situation quite well."

Kai smiled softly and shook his head.

"I'm still standing by Elton John, and we would actually have to win for it to fit the situation."

Without any more delay, Kai popped the golden bead into his mouth as he outstretched his hand. He wasn't sure if it would actually work, but this was the best method he could think of on the spot.

"Failure, are you ready?" Kai asked, his voice slightly muffled by the Miracle Bead sitting in his mouth.

"Of course, my dear Kai."

Failure smiled as he outstretched his own hand and shook Kai's hand at the same time Kai bit down on the Miracle Bead.
