Chapter 37 - New Way

Draga was pleased with the development of Nolen and Ghal. She welcomed her as his new mate. Draga's status in the tribe was elevated as she was the first to bear Nolen's child and had been his mate for longer.

The rest of the orcs were not surprised that strong and influential females usually choose the strongest. They were happy for the couple.

Ghal was relieved and excited that she had finally achieved her goal. She had been able to show Nolen her feelings, and she was glad that he had accepted her.

The celebration continued well into the night. Nolen was enjoying the party and was having fun. He was drinking with the other orcs and was telling them stories about the dungeon. Everyone was laughing and having a good time.

Then, a young female orc asked if she could dance with him. He agreed, and they started dancing. The music was loud, and everyone was cheering them on. Nolen was having fun, and he was enjoying himself. He danced with her, and then other female orcs joined in.

Nolen had no idea what was going on. He just assumed it was part of the celebration. He continued to dance with the girls and was having a good time. The music was loud, and the orcs were cheering them on. They were laughing and enjoying themselves.

After the music ended, the girls thanked him and told him to dance with the other girls.

Nolen was confused, but he did it anyway. He danced with the other girls and had fun. They were all smiling and having a good time.

As Nolen danced the night away, Darga watched from the side. She was a bit jealous of the other females who were dancing with Nolen. She also wanted to dance with him, but the baby bump prevented her from doing so. It was already late in pregnancy, and movement wasn't an option for her. Her belly grew big and strong. She could feel that their offspring with Nolen would be a great warrior.

The celebration continued, and the music got louder. The orcs were drinking and having a good time. Some orcs were getting drunk and singing along with the music.

As the night weaned down, Nolen brought Draga to the tent since she was already a bit tired. Having a strong child inside of her was quite draining for any mother. Ghal decided not to bother Nolen's alone time with Draga that night since it was their first night back, and she also had to move her things from her tent to the Chief's hut.

The next day, the orcs were busy moving the materials they had gotten from the dungeon. They were able to acquire many items and materials, but they had a lot of work to do. Nolen also decided to create an Orc stronghold on top of the dungeon. He would include the dungeon, which they called Door to the Abyss, as part of the fortress. The Orcs were happy about this and excited to get to work. They began building the stronghold.

The stronghold was a simple stone-walled fort made of the same stone as the nearby mountains. The fortress grew quickly due to Romy's assistance. She had already recovered some of her functions, including access to the construction drones.

To the Orcs, the drones looked like golems that Nolen summoned since they just looked like moving and floating rocks. The tech that Romy was made of was based on Lithosian technology, a race of living minerals. They had a rocky-crystal-like design, and to some who were not familiar with the tech, It made them look like more efficient elemental golems than they would see summoned by the Shamans.

What would have taken years to build was done in a couple of months. While the construction drones were working on the Stronghold, Nolen was busy continuing to improve the tribe. He taught them new tactics in warfare, which the orcs picked up very quickly. When it came to fighting and combat, orcs already had an innate talent from birth.

One of the controversial tactics that Nolen introduced was mounted archery for the orcs. Orcs have always viewed archery as a talent for the weak and preferred to get up close and personal. That was until Nolen introduced the orc heavy bow. It was designed after the Manchu Bow, which the Mongolian nomads used back on earth, but it was made even more robust and had an increased draw weight that only an Orc could wield. This orc-heavy bow in the hands of a skilled Orc has the power of a ballista. It was able to penetrate through the solid rock.

This orc-heavy bow was a game-changer for the orcs. They were now able to bring a whole new dimension to their fighting style. This paired with the growing Oracnid warriors, which they used as mounts. This was an excellent mount for the now-mounted orc archers since they were just giant insects, which made their movement glide through the terrain. It added even more stability and accuracy for the orcs. They were now keen on a very mobile ballista platform.

With Nolen's guidance, the orcs quickly developed a new fighting style that involved ranged attacks and mounted units. This has given them an advantage in covering larger areas and targeting more enemies from a distance.

Nolen had combined the Mongolian mobile form of warfare with the orcs' fighting prowess. This gave him a powerful, highly mobile army that was not shy to engage in close-quarter combat if needed.

Draga, though pregnant, was able to learn and adapt to the new weapon. She did not participate in the mounted archery practice, though, since this had to wait until she gave birth, but she was a quick learner when it came to new tactics. She was an exceptional Orc Warrior and Leader, but she had her limits, and being pregnant was one of them.

Those who adapted the quickest were those from the Beast Talker tribe since they already had some ranged weapons on hand every time they hunted. This included some training with the bow, and they also learned to ride beasts.
