Just an ordinary high school boy, Kazuya Nagato, finished his usual school classes and boarded the train to go home, as usual.

...What shall I do when I get home—!?

As Kazuya pondered over what to do when he got home, sudden intense pain shot through his chest.

"Ugh... g-guh...!"

The pain was so overwhelming that Kazuya's face contorted in agony before he lost consciousness and collapsed.

"Ugh... where is this?"

When Kazuya regained consciousness, he found himself not on the train, nor in a hospital, but in a small room surrounded by pristine white walls.

Where... am I?

First surprised to find himself in an unfamiliar room, then simply bewildered, Kazuya glanced around aimlessly.

And finally, as his gaze fell to the floor, he noticed a single folded piece of paper placed there.

Why is there a paper lying here?

With a sense of curiosity, Kazuya picked up the paper, only to find it addressed to him.

"Well... let's see... 'You, who are reading this now, have already died. You died of natural causes, but due to our mistake, we have sent you to another world fifty years earlier than intended. As an apology, we shall grant you three abilities of your choosing and send you to an alternate world. From God.'"

Learning the shocking truth, Kazuya stood frozen in astonishment once again.

"So, I was killed by mistake!!"

And as the shock wore off, he shouted in frustration, slamming the letter onto the floor.

Well, there's no point crying over spilt milk. Let's think about the abilities to take to the other world...

Breathing heavily, Kazuya shook his shoulders up and down while considering his options, but he couldn't keep doing this forever; he had to think about what lay ahead.

As Kazuya tried to focus his thoughts on the abilities he would take to the other world, a window screen and keyboard, reminiscent of those seen in games, appeared before him.

"What's this? Do I input the desired abilities here?"

The window screen that appeared before him had three blank spaces.

Using the keyboard that appeared alongside the window screen, Kazuya inputted the desired abilities into the empty spaces.

  1. "The ability to summon weapons and soldiers to wield them."
  2. "The ability to wield summoned weapons and soldiers proficiently."
  3. "The ability to summon the necessary military resources, personnel, and facilities to operate and maintain summoned weapons and soldiers."

That should do it.

As Kazuya reviewed the three abilities he had written down, he thought to himself.

Just having weapons won't be enough if I can't maintain or resupply them.

However, the second ability seems quite similar to a certain Gun Gale's ability...

Before Kazuya could dwell further on his thoughts, the window screen switched, displaying a new message.

Error!!

[You have selected more than three abilities in total. Therefore, there will be limitations on taking all abilities. Do you accept? YES/NO]

Gah!! Maybe I tried to cram too much into each ability? Well, a little restriction should be fine.

Unaware of the troubles ahead caused by his optimistic thinking, Kazuya selected "YES".

With his optimistic choice, a new message appeared on the window screen.

[You will now be sent to another world. Note that the world you are about to enter is a fantasy world where magic and magical creatures exist. Additionally, there are numerous perks available as a service. Please confirm later. Lastly, in the alternate world you're going to, there are others like you who will be tripping alongside you. Capturing or killing them will grant you special rewards and their abilities.]

Oh, lucky me. Are there really perks as a service? ...But what's with the idea of getting rewards and abilities by killing other trippers in the other world...? It's rather ruthless.

As Kazuya muttered quietly, a loud sound accompanied the sudden appearance of a large hole beneath his feet.

"Eh!? Gyaahhhhh!"

Startled, Kazuya looked down, then screamed in terror as he was sucked into the hole.

After Kazuya had fallen into the hole, a new message appeared on the window screen that remained.

[Note that this interdimensional trip also serves as a pastime for the gods. Therefore, beware of divine intervention.]

However, the warning came too late, unseen by anyone's eyes.

A young man tumbled to the ground through a gaping hole in space.

"...Thought I was a goner," he muttered.

Kazuya's first words upon reaching the otherworld were filled with relief.

"Sigh... Let's confirm the abilities I've been granted and assess the current situation."

As Kazuya attempted to review the abilities he had received, a sudden, excruciating headache assaulted his mind without warning.

"Ugh, my head... it's... aghhh!"

Overwhelmed by the pain, Kazuya clutched his head, writhing on the ground.

After enduring the agony for about five minutes, it gradually subsided.

Damn, what was that headache all about?

While still grasping his head, Kazuya staggered to his feet, noticing something peculiar.

"What's this?"

Basic knowledge of this world and how to utilize its abilities, which had not existed in Kazuya's mind prior to the onset of the headache, now resided in his thoughts.

...Did that headache just implant knowledge and abilities of this world into my head?

They could have at least explained that beforehand.

With a sense of frustration lingering in his mind, Kazuya shook off his earlier experience and focused on planning his next actions.

"Right, let's start with the abilities."

As Kazuya instinctively invoked his abilities, a menu screen appeared before him.

[Summon Weapon]

[Status]

[Summonable Quantity and Troop Composition]

[Help]

Upon seeing the menu screen, Kazuya immediately attempted to summon an M4 Carbine for a trial, but...

Something's not right here.

No matter how long he waited, the M4 Carbine wouldn't materialize.

Puzzled, Kazuya selected [Summon Weapon] on the screen, where he found the following message:

[Summon Weapon]

Currently, only weapons developed until 1945 can be summoned.

"...You've got to be kidding me."

With a sinking feeling, Kazuya scrolled through the options until he found the cause, breaking out in a cold sweat as he read the displayed text:

[Your abilities are currently restricted, allowing only weapons developed until 1945 to be summoned. Additionally, the quantity of summonable weapons and number of troops are limited. This ability operates on a level-based system, meaning restrictions can be lifted by leveling up.]

Damn it... I should have thoroughly checked the extent of these restrictions back in that room.

Kazuya deeply regretted not scrutinizing the limitations of his newly acquired abilities beforehand.

I thought I was keeping a level head, but apparently not.

Regardless, I'll need to proceed with more caution from now on, Kazuya resolved within himself.

Well, leveling up should unlock access to more weapons, and being able to summon weapons developed until 1945 alone should be quite advantageous in this world.

Kazuya chose to view things in a positive light.

Anyway, what's my current level? Let's check on the menu screen.

With that thought in mind, Kazuya navigated the menu and selected "Status," bringing up the desired screen.

Title: Identity

Name:

Kazuya Nagato

Level:

1

Equipment:

Uniform, Shoes

"This status screen seems remarkably simple... While I'm at it, I might as well check all the other sections too."

Kazuya decided to inspect all the other sections apart from [Weapon Summoning] and [Status], now that his verification was complete.

[Summonable Quantity and Unit Formation]

Due to current capacity limitations, the summonable quantities are as follows:

Infantry

  • 250 (one company)

Artillery

  • 30

Vehicles

  • 30

Aircraft

  • 30

Warships

  • 10
  • Personnel required to operate artillery, vehicles, aircraft, warships, etc., will be summoned along with these weapons when summoned.
  • Personnel for rear support (engineers, maintenance personnel, communication personnel, supply personnel, medical personnel) are not included in infantry and can be summoned separately. Currently, rear support personnel that can be summoned are limited to brigade size.
  • There are no restrictions on summoning heavy weapons or small arms within the range that can be operated by 2-3 infantry.

[Perks]

Mental Enhancement (High)

Physical Enhancement (Medium)

Common Language

[Map]

  • Current Location, Within the Canary Kingdom Territory, 'Forest of No Return'

[Help]

  • [Mechanism for Unit (Infantry) Formation]

Setting of soldiers to be summoned (gender, age, personality, weapons and equipment carried) will be followed when summoned. (If nothing is selected, gender, age, and personality will be randomly selected, and weapons and equipment will be summoned in the same condition as the summoner. Also, if soldiers die in battle, replenishment of vacancies cannot be made for 1 month, so please be aware.)

  • [Precautions for Abilities]

Summoning is possible even without using the menu screen, using only voice or thoughts.

Summoned weapons and soldiers can be dismissed.

It is not possible to summon weapons, ammunition, or soldiers during combat.

Having perused all the sections, Kazuya decided to summon weapons and soldiers.

"Now, for the main weapon, let's go with the German Army's H&K StG44 Assault Rifle, secondary weapon will be the Walther P38 Military Pistol, and auxiliary equipment will be the M24 Grenade with Bayonet. Quite a complete set of German gear."

"Well, it's fine. I'll adjust as per the situation. Right, attire... What should I do about the uniform? Since I'm going with German weapons, might as well go with German uniform."

"Then... M43 Field Uniform should do. As for equipment... Helmet, military boots, gloves, portable shovel, medical supplies, and backpack. Alright, that should do."

Summoning and equipping the desired items one after another, Kazuya then checked his status.

[Character Status]

Name: Kazuya Nagato

Level: 1

Equipment: Helmet, Gloves, M43 Field Uniform, Portable Shovel, Backpack, Military Boots

Primary Weapon: StG44 (7.92x33mm Rounds, 30-round box-shaped curved magazines x 6)

Secondary Weapon: Walther P38 (9mm Parabellum Rounds, 8-round magazines x 2)

Auxiliary Equipment: Type 24 Grenades with Handles x 2 Bayonet

Such is the inventory. Nonetheless, authentic firearms are indeed weighty...

Kazuya, quietly amused by the substantial heft of the StG44—a firearm he touched for the first time—couldn't help but crack a smile imperceptibly at the corner of his mouth.

Now then, shall I summon the unit for reconnaissance of the surroundings?

The moment Kazuya opted to summon the unit, a gleam flashed before his eyes, and before him stood soldiers clad in M43 field uniforms, impeccably aligned without a single thread out of place.

"Oh!"

As Kazuya realized the soldiers standing in formation before him were his subordinates, his excitement soared.

Continuing to scrutinize the soldiers intently, Kazuya noticed a soldier stepping forward from the front row, offering a salute before speaking.

"The 1st Platoon, reporting with 250 personnel assembled."

Upon hearing these words, Kazuya, regaining his composure, returned the salute before addressing them.

"Good work. By the way, who are you?"

Kazuya inquired of the soldier who had stepped forward.

The soldier, having ceased saluting and assuming an upright, unwavering posture, responded to the query.

"Ah, I am Lieutenant Chitose Katayama, the platoon leader commanding this unit. I shall be serving as your adjutant henceforth. I humbly request your continued guidance. At present, that is."

Initially preoccupied with surveying the platoon, Kazuya finally noticed the gender of the individual before him upon hearing the introduction—it was a female soldier.

"I see. I look forward to working with you, Lieutenant Katayama."

Perhaps due to his capabilities, Kazuya found himself inadvertently speaking in a commanding tone.

"Yes, please entrust us with your orders. We shall serve you with utmost dedication," Lieutenant Katayama responded.

She seemed passionate... Lieutenant Katayama...

"Ah, yes. By the way, Lieutenant Katayama, what is the male-to-female ratio in the platoon?"

Observing the platoon and noticing a significant number of female soldiers, Kazuya queried Lieutenant Katayama regarding the unit's composition.

"Ah, including myself, out of the total 250 personnel in the platoon, 150 are female soldiers."

...Indeed, while I did not specify during the unit summoning, I hadn't anticipated such a high proportion of female soldiers.

As Kazuya pondered this, Lieutenant Katayama, still standing rigidly, spoke again.

"You might perceive us to have an abundance of female soldiers, but rest assured, our female soldiers are equally proficient as the men. Therefore, there's no need for concern."

Perhaps sensing Kazuya's apprehension, Lieutenant Katayama gazed at him with a stern look as she spoke.

"Uh... cough!"

Unable to withstand Lieutenant Katayama's gaze any longer, Kazuya issued orders to the platoon, opting to divert attention from the situation.
