"So, what do I do now then, Author?" Emilia muttered as she sat down on the couch, her mind racing with questions.
[Author? Is that my new nickname now? I guess that's fine. Anyway, I've already laid out the basic plot and setting. This is an academy novel where magic and fantasy creatures exist.]
Emilia pondered for a moment, then asked Gyeoul a pressing question. "What happens if I die here in this novel? Hypothetically, of course."
[I don't know.]
Emilia was shocked. Did the Author really not know what would happen if she died in her novel world? Or was she just hiding the truth? She needed more clarity.
"You don't know...? What do you mean you don't know?" Emilia's voice wavered with a mix of fear and curiosity.
[I'm responsible for my assistants' lives. If they were at the brink of death, I'd immediately extract their consciousness back into their bodies in reality.]
Gyeoul’s honesty was somewhat reassuring. After hearing this, Emilia sighed in relief. The last thing she needed was another reason to be anxious.
"Alright. Thank you. Now, could you tell me the novel's plot? I feel like you haven't explained what it even is. And also, why is your novel so generic?" Emilia’s tone was a mix of exasperation and genuine curiosity.
[I can't help it! Also, if you're going to call me Author, then I'll call you Reader. Anyway, the plot of the story is simple. It's a magic academy novel. In the world of Tessia, there is an evil villain organization that wants to revolutionize the age of magic. In other words, they want to spread their love for dark magic in a very violent and harmful way. Their first target is to destroy the five most prestigious schools in the entire world. The school you're attending, St. Freiburg of Perseverance, is one of those prestigious schools.]
Emilia, after receiving all that information, asked another question, seeking deeper understanding. "What's the role of the protagonist then?"
[Well, his role is for him to decide. After all, I don't have the ability to change a character's personality or story because all of them, even the non-important NPCs, gained sentience once you entered this world. My abilities are limited to just adding more plot and settings.]
Emilia was curious about the protagonist's situation. "Then what is the motivation that drives the protagonist so much that he enrolled in St. Freiburg Academy?"
[Well, he wants to become stronger. His sister was killed by a magical beast because he wasn't strong enough to save her. He was a gifted child with a deep understanding of magic. He received a recommendation from a noble he saved to join St. Freiburg Academy.]
"That sounds depressing. Also, what's the protagonist's name?"
[Klaus Hoffenheim.]
Emilia scoffed at the name, thinking it was a bit funny. "Isn't Hoffenheim a village in Germany? Author, the names you give these characters... You're trying too hard to make the names have a more fantasy feel."
[Yeah, yeah. In any case, I want you to be the protagonist's companion. Set him on the right track. I don't want my protagonist to end up in the hands of evil.]
Emilia chuckled, but a thought lingered in her mind. She suddenly remembered: magic. How do you use it?
Emilia asked the Author again. "So, magic. How does it work here?"
[Good thing you asked! Basically, magic in this world uses mana. Mana is present in every living being and can be measured using an Eye of Eclipse. Don't worry about your mana; the character you possess has one of the most abundant mana pools in the novel. Now, for casting spells, you have to memorize the pattern for transmutation circles and how much mana you have to insert into them for the spell to work. For example, a simple fire breath spell needs a basic transmutation circle and an input and output of 30 manaverts. If you input more mana than that, the spell becomes unstable and can backfire on you. If you input less, the spell cast becomes weaker and unstable. Do you understand now?]
Emilia listened carefully and understood every detail. "Alright. I understand. You've really given the magic system a lot of thought, huh."
[Of course! If the magic system were faulty or boring, no one would enjoy the fight scenes in this novel.]
Emilia leaned back, trying to process all the information. The concept of being in a novel, a place where the very fabric of reality was written by someone else, was overwhelming. Yet, it was fascinating. She thought about her role and responsibilities. If she were to act as a guide for Klaus Hoffenheim, she needed to understand the intricacies of this world better.
"Author, tell me more about this world. What are the major factions, the geography, the cultures? I need to know everything if I'm to survive and thrive here."
[Good question Reader! The world of Tessia is vast and diverse. There are five major factions: the Kingdom of Mersllëin, where you currently are; the Elven Queendom of Valenwood, known for their archery and nature magic; the Dwarven Empire of Karakderöm, famed for their blacksmithing and earth magic; the Sorcerers' Republic of Arcadia, a hub for the most skilled magic users; and finally, the Darklands, a region shrouded in mystery and inhabited by those who practice dark magic.]
Emilia's eyes widened. This world was far more intricate than she initially thought. "What about the geography and cultures? How do these factions interact?"
[The geography varies greatly. Mersllëin is a land of lush forests and rolling hills, Valenwood is covered in ancient, towering trees, Karakderöm is mountainous and rugged, Arcadia is a land of vast plains and magical constructs, and the Darklands are a desolate wasteland. The cultures are just as diverse. Mersllëin values honor and chivalry, Valenwood respects nature and balance, Karakderöm prizes craftsmanship and resilience, Arcadia focuses on knowledge and power, and the Darklands... well, they are driven by ambition and secrecy.]
Emilia nodded, absorbing the information. This was no simple task she had taken on. She would need to navigate a world filled with complexities and dangers. Yet, there was a thrill to it. A chance to live a life completely different from her own.
"Alright, Author. I think I'm ready to dive into this world. What's my first task?"
[Your first task is to integrate yourself into St. Freiburg Academy. Meet the protagonist, Klaus, and establish yourself as his companion. The academy's entrance ceremony is in two weeks. Be prepared.]
Emilia felt a mix of excitement and apprehension. This was it. The start of a new chapter in a world of magic and fantasy. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the challenges ahead.
"Understood. I'll do my best."
[Good luck, Reader. Remember, your actions will shape the story. Make them count.]
With that, Emilia began to prepare for her new life in the world of Tessia. She had no idea what awaited her, but she was determined to make her mark and ensure the story reached its rightful conclusion.
(AN: It's because of the money, right Leo?)

Hey everyone, this novel is getting quite a lot of traction now so I'll be posting double chapters every day after tomorrow. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more chapters everybody.
Thanks for the chapter.
Fmc is greedy and smart. Unfortunately, I lack information to see if she is analytical and cold. Because if she is like that, we would have many characteristics for an antiheroine: helping the Hero of this world and appearing to be everyone's ally. And at the same time she was a member of the dark side to work behind the scenes as a "puppet master".
Money and adventure!
Tftc, reminds me of 'just because I have narrow eyes doesn't mean I'm a villain!' Except the communication between author and reader is much more established and less manipulative, for now... heh.
I've heard of that novel but I've never actually read it fully. Is it any good?
@ggezlmao it was decent
@esThr I see. Thank you for your input.
