Nyx and I decided to just stop at a fast food place to get some lunch. Apparently when she is working at her record agency, they don’t let her get fast food like this, and her family doesn’t eat it often.

 

In truth, neither does mine, but this place is special to me for some reason. And they aren’t that big of a nation chain, so it's kinda nice.

 

After we both ordered, we sat at a table together and waited for our food, when Nyx started a conversation.

 

“So, I wanted to ask you a few things about hunting” she said.

 

“What's up? I can help to the best of my ability” I tell her.

 

“Well, I am getting the hang of some of it, but there are a few things I don’t have down yet”

 

“Like what?”

 

“So, I know how to pick dungeons. All of them are listed on the association's site, and with a decent amount of detail. When I was waiting for you to be ready to hunt together, I had to get used to doing that” she explains.

 

“That's good, but if you can do that, what is it you need help with?”

 

“It's the other things, like choosing skills to get with SP, or where to get better equipment, or where to buy things like potions” she explains.

 

“Oh, that's pretty complicated, but let's start with the easy stuff” I explain. “Firstly, there are stores that sell hunter equipment, like potions or weapons. They vary in quality, but it is the best way to get things like potions without the Crafting skill, or my creation skill. Then there are some that sell weapons. For the most part they are run by either guilds or people who have crafting skills, to make money” I tell her.

 

“That makes sense. So I just have to find one of these stores and I’ll have that problem solved”

 

“Yes, and for the other problem, your skills. Let me ask you, do you have any other skills than your intrinsic one?” I ask her.

 

“Nope, only my intrinsic skill”

 

“And you aren’t fighting on your own, just using your summons?”

 

“Yes, thats all I have needed so far”

 

“Well, then the paths you can go down are pretty easy. You should try to get support skills, like crafting or item boxes right away. The other option is choosing a personal fighting style and getting the skill for that, like swordsmanship. Then lastly you could go for a magic skill” I tell her.

 

In truth, skills are somewhat complicated to think about for Nyx. Since she is more acting as a commander and not a fighter but buffing magic, what most commanders use in a formation, might not work on the summons and needs light magic to be learned.

 

“So, most of what I should do, is based on how I want to fight?” she asks me.

 

“Yes, essentially” I tell her.

 

“Ok then, so what kind of fighter should I be?” she asks me.

 

“I can’t tell you that, you need to make that decision” I tell her.

 

“Fine…” she said, and sat back on her chair. “Soooo, what kind of weapons do you think are cool?”

 

“I like all of them. Personally, I have been using swords for now, as well as being ready to use martial arts, but spears and knives are cool as well. Same goes for things like scythes or chakrams or other unique weapons. And there are always magie-guns” I tell her. “All of them are cool”

 

“Hmm, your no help”

 

“But if you absolutely what to chose one right away, can I call someone for help?” I ask her.

 

“Whats up?”

 

“You could always just stay as a commander to your force, which could work, but I want to learn something about the summons first”

 

“And what would that be?”

 

“Whether or not they can be buffed”

 

“Hmm, sure”

 

After that, our food was brought to use and we enjoyed our lunch, before going back to the dungeon and hunting more today. Nyx said that she wanted to try something with the boss, so I have to stay back on this next run.

 

And before we went in, I sent a text to someone to come here.

Anthem was at home today, just hanging out since he didn’t have any plans. Aria was in her own room doing things, so he was siting at home, just watching tv.

 

He was contemplating going out to do some hunting when he received a text.

 

‘Hey I need your help with something. Come to this dungeon’ and a link to the location was sent as well.

 

This was from Zenith.

 

It was pretty strange for Zenith to text him instead of Aria, but taking the chance to help out his brother, he left right away.

 

Little did he know that shortly after he left, someone followed behind him.

Watching as the summons take out the dungeon boss really shows off how strong Nyx’s ability can be.

 

Just as fast as I killed the boss during our first raid together, they are able to deal with the boss.

 

“Well, now time to try and make the boss into one of my summons” Nyx said, walking over to where the boss died. She raised her hand above the spot and from it, a new shadow was formed from the ground. At the same time, one of the knights disappeared.

 

“There we go, my first ever magic soldier. THis should make my squad much more balanced” Nyx said.

 

“Awesome, we can test it on the next run, if you think you have time today” I say.

 

“Of course. Thanks to you, we can clear the dungeon so much faster than when I was alone” she said.

 

“Well, then let's get going” I said, and the two of us left the dungeon.

 

But as we left the dungeon, we came across an interesting scene.

 

“I can’t believe you followed me, Zenith texted me for help” Anthem said, standing by the entrance to the dungeon.

 

“And you think that if he needs help, I wouldn’t come” Aria said.

 

This was because of me. I texted ANthem for help with Nyx, since he is the only person I know who has buffing magic. That is thanks to his white magic, the inverse of Aria’s black magic. With his help, I can figure out where Nyx can start placing her SP.

 

“Hey, you came” I said, walking over to them. “And Aria came with you”

 

“Yes I did. NOw what do you need help with? YOu aren’t hurt anywhere are you?” Aria says.

 

“No, I'm fine. Just need a skill Anthem has. It's for Nyx” I say.

 

“We want to know if my summons can be buffed with magic” she said. “And you didn’t say you would be calling your family to help with this”

 

“In all honesty, them and you are the total list of people I talk to, so there wasn’t much of an option” I explained to her.

 

“Hmm, really?” Nyx said

 

“Well, I am open to helping with anything” Anthem said. “My white magic is ready to help” He worked quickly to change the subject when my lack of relationships comes up.

 

“Great” I said, and led everyone into the dungeon again.

“TITAN STRENGTH” Anthem said, casting white magic onto all of the summons. Titan strength was a powerful buff that more then doubles the physical strength of the target. Lucky we don’t need to test this, since the aura of the spell surrounds all of the soldiers, proving the magic works.

 

“Well, that seems to work great. Now how do I get that skill?” Nyx askes.

 

“Well, white magic is an advanced form of Light magic, so you need to get that, or an equivalent skill, to level 10. Then I believe you need to get to level 250, before it becomes available in the skill shop” ANthem explains. “NOw that spell is an advanced spell so you would also need higher level magic manipulation skills as well”

 

These magic manipulation skills are how you use higher level magic, after you reach the peak of the skill. They are extremely commonly found as skill orbs when you hit B and A rank dungeons, and you don’t really need them before then.

 

“Great, so then I should start with white magic” Nyx said. And I could see her open the status screen, then scroll through the skill shop for a little before she spoke again. “Sweet, now I can work on this while leveling up”

 

“Ok, so is there anything else you need from us?” Aria asked.

 

“No” I said. I noticed that I had possibly taken the two of them away from something important today, and started to feel bad about that.

 

“Great. You two enjoy the hunting, and Aria and I will head back home. Call if you need anything” Anthem said, someone implying that he wasn’t doing anything today.

 

“Hey, text us when your done today, we can go get dinner together later” Aria said, when the two of them left the dungeon.

 

“Awesome, let's get back to it”

It was a few minutes later when we realized something.

 

“I don’t think this summon can do anything” I said, looking at the summon of the floor boss. They were just waiting in the back of the group with Nyx and me.

 

“Yeah, he is just staying back here” Nyx said.

 

“Can they not use magic?” I say, completely confused by its inaction.

 

Nyx and I then glance at each other.

 

And stuck in our silence, Nyx yelled after a few seconds.
