The window that was floating in front of him was a very familiar yet different screen. It had a familiar layout to the game's own inventory interface, but yet, it wasn't entirely the same. The game inventory user interface, or UI, had where each time took up X amount of slots of space. For example, a sword took up 3 slots, no matter if it was a wooden or an iron sword one. It wasn't like those RPG ones, where it goes from x1 to x99.

This one however was similar to the RPG ones where each item only took up 1 item slot. But the difference was that it did not show how many items there were. Not only that, it had so many items that you had to scroll trough them. But clay didn't really notice it, because the first thing he saw was a common food item. Bread.

Clay immediately pressed the bread icon, not sure if it would work or not. But luckily, it did. The space in front of Clay started to distort as a piece of white bread materialized. He wasn't sure how it was possible to simply materialize bread from nothing, but Clay didn't care much about it and just started to eat. Since he was quite hungry from all that mindless walking.

"Mmm~ White bread is the best~!"

Because of legislation, most of the senses was illegal. But that didn't really apply to taste or pain, however the pain tolerance was mostly the at the level of stubbing your toe. Taste however was fully allowed, since nobody really like the taste of the nutrition paste. It tasted horrible, but it was very nutritious to the body. This was the reason why Clay's favourite thing when playing the game was eating all the food.

After eating the entire loaf of bread, Clay carefully examined and experimented with the inventory screen. What he notices that, if an item was selected, it wouldn't disappear from the inventory, and he could press it how many times as he liked. And to get rid of items, he simply had to put the "materialized" item into the trash bin icon. Clay had no idea how or why this worked, but it did. The inventory felt like he was playing in Creative mode, or something similar from the game. However, it looked like he couldn't just create items from nothing like from the game, but what was possible was adding in new items. Clay noticed this by grabbing a normal rock and somehow shoved it into the screen.

Again, Clay had no idea how this even worked.

Luckily, his inventory at least contained a firearm from the 20th century. A simple handgun, 1911. When he grabbed it, all the knowledge of how to use the weapon and how to handle firearms flew straight into his head. It wasn't a pleasant experience as it gave him a nice headache. The weapon that was summoned was of course unloaded.

The moment he thought "Reload", a magazine materialized in thin air in front of Clay. He quickly grabbed it and reloaded his firearm. This was Clay's first time to ever hold a real firearm, but it felt like he always knew how to operate one thanks to the knowledge that flew directly into his brain.

Of course, he did test if by putting the weapon back into the inventory if the firearm would have its magazine loaded the next time he summoned it. And the results? It was unloaded. Clay got a bit disappointed that he couldn't summon one with a magazine from the start, but then again, It would be quite bad to summon a fully loaded weapon and accidentally fire it off.

~***~

After staying in the cave for a few hours, the heavy thunderstorm had yet to pass. Luckily the cave was on an incline at the entrance, so the rain water wouldn’t flood the inside. As I was calmly listening to the rain with the addition to thunderous sounds in the background at times, I picked up other noises. I was somehow able to pickup these noises even though they were far away, probably due I’m not human any more, maybe.

I mean, humans doesn’t really have long pointy ears now, do they? And I was for sure I changed into my avatar I created, but I haven’t yet found a mirror in my large inventory, and trying to scroll trough that huge list is a pain… I went to page 1000 out of boredom, and I still found a lot of stuff that I’ve never heard of or seen. Some where from the game, and some weren’t. It’s a huge mess. …I should take a look later if there is a search bar.

The noises that Clay heard became louder and louder. It didn’t take long for him to realize it that there were something, or someone, running towards his current location. A minute or so later, he finally noticed who and what was approaching him.

There were 2 people with cat ears and tails, wearing some kind of armour, though they were heavily damaged and stained with red and greenish blood. The rest of them? A huge horde of tall green looking people.

“Green Ogres? Forest Ogres? or maybe they are just called Ogre. But damn, they sure are ugly. They look similar to the ones from that Elders Books: Skorm game from the 21th century.

…I’m surprised I’m this calm and collected. Oh, right. I should probably see if I can help them using this 1911, if it’s powerful enough.”

As the 2 were getting closer, they had yet to notice Clay that standing in the cave entrance, as they kept glancing backwards towards their pursuers. Clay readied his gun and slowly took aim at one of the green looking fella that was getting closer to one of the girls.

The closer these ogres looking people got, the easier it was to see on their faces that they were enjoying this chase of theirs, as if playing with their pray before the meal. This only disgusted Clay as he took aim. As one of them was about grab one of the girls with a nasty looking grin, it was at that moment he pulled the trigger. A very loud resounding explosion from the gun’s cartridge was heard in the forest. The ogre that was just about to grab the girl, got their brains blasted out from the other side of his skull. Causing it to fall head first into the ground, breaking some small trees and bushes in the way.

As the 1911 worked fine against these ogres, he then quickly aimed at his next target and fired once again. As the two ogres fell, the rest that were running right behind them frantically stopped their pursuit of the cat girls, to try to figure out what just happened to their fellow kin, and to find this unknown enemy that dared to attack them while they were playing with their food. While this was all happening, the girls lost their footing due to the loud explosion making them lose their remaining concentration to run away. When they both hit the ground, even more loud explosions where heard all around them. And once it stopped, both of them carefully looked behind them when it became eerily quiet.

What the girls saw were the corpses of the ogres that were hunting them. The same ogres that they were running desperately away from just a few moments ago. And as they looked around to see where these explosions originated from, they spotted someone in a cave entrance. They couldn’t see the outline of the person entirely, as it was quite hard to see due to the dense foliage of the forest. The said person, Clay, simply stared at the corpses for a moment before eventually heading back into the cave.

After Clay saved the girls from those tall green looking men, he went back further into the cave as he was looking at his inventory screen again. After checking for a bit, he noticed he could sort the items in folders, which made things easier. But the bad part was that he had to go trough everything manually, which he knew would take hours, if not days or weeks. Maybe months even. But that wouldn’t stop him, as he did something very similar in MyCraft when it came to organising his chests. And since this is his new reality, he had to make sure it was carefully organised, so he could easily materialize things at a later time.

As he was doing this, the girls that he saved entered the cave, completely drenched due to the rain. He could feel no hostility from them, but it looked like they were on guard. Well, they were recently attacked earlier, so It would make sense, he thought.

“M’ha Nawalu. Ry' wegu huamali!”

“W-wegu huamali!”

“I have no idea what you said, but I guess it means thank you in your language.”

Clay had basically no idea what these two just said, but he had a hunch that they said the word thanks in their own language. As he was sorting his inventory, he managed to find some items that could provide some help at this very moment. A proper table, chairs, towels and hot choco.

As he materialized them, both of the girls got bewildered how the furniture in front of them appeared out of no where. It’s as if it was magic, or rather, it was magic.

“Here. Towels.”

“Towhal? Maku dehekoji? Chroe kejju?”

“Excuse me miss. But I unfortunately don’t speak your native language… Hm?”

As Clay handed over one of the towels to girl to the left, she accidentally placed a few fingers on his hand when she was receiving the towels. And at that moment, the language they spoke on this continent, how to read and write in their language appeared in his mind, as if he always knew about it. The powers Clay have recently obtained made no sense to him. But what he did know was that there was always a third party or a god that summons, or in other terms kidnapping them, to their own world for their own selfish reasons. He just hoped it wasn’t anything dangerous.

Of course, all of this information is just what Clay had read online from light novels and the like.

*Ahem* These are towels. Furthermore, this is hot chocolate. It may look like muddy water, but do not worry, as that’s the chocolate. Please drink it while it’s warm.

I will give you some dry clothes later. But before that, both of you are drenched from the rain, so make sure to dry yourselves with these.”

“Ah. Okay. Thank you very much.”

After speaking to them in their own native language, they finally removed their drenched and bloodied clothing and began to dry themselves. Of course, they did not strip, as they were still in their underwear. Well, if you can even call their rags underwear.

Learning their language was a huge boon, even if Clay didn’t understand how or why. As for the clothing, he knew he had something in his inventory, he just had to search for it. The two girls carefully drank their hot drink while looking at Clay as he was sorting trough the items in his inventory one by one.

At first, the girls carefully sipped the hot cocoa. It was quite hot, but after tasting the sweet taste, they got quite hooked. They looked at their savoir with sparkle in their eyes. Not only were they saved from the ogres, but they saw a miracle happening in front of them. The girl to the right placed down her hot cocoa and asked their saviour “Umm, may I ask what your name is, miss elf?”.

“My name?” Clay responded. “Mmm… Well... When was the last time someone asked me for my name?”

Of course, nobody has ever asked Clay for his name, so this was just an impromptu way to delay his answer. As if trying to remember what his own name was. Clay couldn’t use his own real name ‘Clay’ for obvious reasons. Not only that, he was a she now. Not that it really bothered him or anything.

When he read novels or comics about people becoming the opposite gender, he always thought that it wasn’t really a big deal. “If I can still eat and sleep, then its no problem.” Is all Clay said when he read those.

As Clay was thinking of what kind of name he should have, he suddenly remembered his avatar’s characteristics. Right, I can just go with that! He though to himself.

“Mmm… My name is Sylvia. Sylvia Yung. What about yours?”
