Chapter 36: The Wild One’s Ending

The classroom had fallen into a quiet, expectant silence. Everyone was gathered, their eyes turned toward the front, where the Protagonist stood. It was another chapter in their shared story, another piece of the puzzle to fall into place. The Class President’s ending had been a bittersweet step toward a new chapter, but now it was time for the one person who had always been a whirlwind of chaos—the Wild One.

The Protagonist took a deep breath, his hand hovering over the chalkboard as he turned to face the class. “Alright, everyone,” he began, his voice steady. “Now, it’s time for the Wild One to choose her ending.”

The Wild One, who had been sitting in the back, looking as if she’d been ready for this moment all along, grinned widely. Her usual wild energy was still there, but now, there was something different in her eyes—something more serious, more grounded than the carefree attitude she usually carried.

“Ah, yes,” she said, her voice teasing, yet with a touch of sincerity. “It’s about time, isn’t it?”

The Protagonist gave her a small smile. “We’re all waiting to see how this one turns out.”

“Well, let’s make it interesting, shall we?” the Wild One replied, standing up and walking to the center of the room. She stretched dramatically, as if preparing for a grand performance. “I’ve never been one for the usual endings. You know me—I don’t play by the rules. But I think this time, I’ll make an exception. I’ll go for something different. Something that fits the Wild One.”

The rest of the cast, who had been watching with curious eyes, leaned forward slightly, eager to see what the Wild One would decide.

“I’ve always been the one who never took things seriously,” she continued, looking directly at the Protagonist. “I’ve always been the one to cause trouble, to make things unpredictable. But lately, I’ve been thinking...”

She paused, a rare moment of vulnerability creeping into her eyes. “Maybe there’s more to life than just having fun and creating chaos. Maybe I’m ready for something… more stable.”

There was a murmur of surprise in the room. The Wild One, stable? It didn’t quite match the image everyone had of her.

The Protagonist looked at her, trying to read the depth behind her words. “Are you sure?”

The Wild One smiled, but it wasn’t her usual playful grin. It was softer, more genuine. “Yeah, I think I am. I’ve spent so much time running around, not knowing what I really want. But I’ve figured it out now. I don’t want to be the one who’s always running away from things. I want something real. Something that lasts.”

She turned toward the rest of the cast, her eyes meeting each of theirs. “I’m done being the one who doesn’t care. I’m done pretending I don’t need anyone. I’ve realized that I do.”

The Protagonist stepped forward, his expression serious. “So what are you asking for, then? What do you want for your ending?”

The Wild One’s smile grew wider, though it was still tinged with a bit of uncertainty. “I want to be with someone who accepts me for who I am. Someone who doesn’t just see the wild side, but sees the part of me that’s still human. Someone who can keep up with my pace, but also slow me down when I need it.”

Her eyes locked onto his, and for the first time in a long time, the Protagonist saw something deep in them—a mixture of hope and fear, as if she was afraid of what she was asking for but desperately needed it.

“I’m not perfect,” she admitted, her voice soft but clear. “I’m messy, unpredictable, and maybe a little too much sometimes. But I want to be with someone who doesn’t try to change me. Someone who can handle the chaos, but also see the calm beneath it all.”

There was a long pause, and then the Protagonist spoke, his voice low and sincere. “You’re not alone in this, Wild One. I understand you. I’ve always understood you.”

The Wild One’s eyes softened, and she took a step toward him, her usual energy replaced with something quieter, more vulnerable. “You understand me?”

He nodded. “I’ve always been there, even when you didn’t notice. I get that you’re not just chaos—you’re someone who’s been hurt, someone who’s been running because they don’t know where they belong. But you do belong. And I think… I think you belong with me.”

The Wild One’s breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening slightly. “With you?”

He stepped closer, his gaze steady. “Yes. Because you don’t have to face everything alone. We can face it together. And no matter how wild things get, I’ll be right by your side.”

For a long moment, the room was silent, the weight of his words hanging in the air. The Wild One looked at him, her usual impish grin replaced with a more thoughtful expression. “You mean it?” she asked softly, as if she wasn’t sure she was ready to believe it.

“I do,” the Protagonist said, his voice unwavering. “And I think that’s the ending you deserve. Not the chaos or the running. But something real. Something lasting.”

Tears welled up in her eyes, and for the first time, the Wild One’s usual defiance melted away, replaced by something deeper—something raw. “I don’t know if I can believe it,” she whispered. “But I want to. I really do.”

The Protagonist smiled, his hand reaching out to gently take hers. “Then let’s make it happen. Together.”

The rest of the cast watched in silence, each of them seeing the Wild One in a new light. She wasn’t just the troublemaker, the one who brought chaos. She was someone who had been searching for something real, something genuine, and now, she had found it.

The Wild One finally let out a soft, almost relieved laugh. “Well, look at that. Maybe I’m not so wild after all.”

The Protagonist chuckled along with her, feeling a sense of peace that he hadn’t known he needed. The ending they had created wasn’t about grand gestures or dramatic moments. It was simple, honest, and exactly what they both needed.

And as they stood there, hand in hand, the rest of the cast couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t just the Wild One’s ending—they had all found a little piece of their own in the process.
