From the memories of another soul, she remembered the story she was seeing when she was in the dark was actually a dating game. It was the typical romance story between a peasant girl and a man from an upper class. It was your everyday cliché romance story.

The main love interest of the game was her son, the crown prince, that held or show no emotions at all. He had inherited his grey hair from his father and his crimson eyes from his mother. His good looks came from both sides of his parents. They could be one happy beautiful good looking family but sadly the father was a war maniac and his mother is a crazily obsessive woman.

His parents don't care at all about him. His father cared more about his war and his mother cared more about catching his father's heart. You could say both sides of the family are lunatic. The father is a crazy emperor that was rumoured to kill thousands of babies and women just because he was feeling bored.

Okay. Just wait for a second there. Why was the story giving the mother the whole bad guy spotlight for? The father killed women and children for fun, for fuck sake! How was that not an interesting villain character?

And this very same father was the one who is currently holding my son.

As expected of good genes, if the son is good looking the father is two times more. With grey hair and dark eyes, he stares down to the small bundle in his arms. But something was not right, why was it so cold in this room? Her bedroom was so warm but this room had turned to ice cold and she just stepped right inside of it from her room.

The emperor was glaring at the baby in his arms and suddenly a thought came to her. Is he about to kill his own heir? He couldn't right? But the growing murderous intent in the air thought otherwise. She was not going to test whether the rumours were true or not and she is most definitely not going to test it on her own son.

Even though her memories were missing a few parts and she had no recollection of carrying her son for nine months but that wasn't a reason to ignore an innocent baby who was about to be killed by his own father. She quickly tries to reach the two of them but she had just given birth less than two hours ago and she could barely walk and had to lean against the wall. Sandhya will have to help her but she immediately stopped right out the door. She was shivering from top to bottom when she saw him.

The rest of the journey she went through had to be supported by the walls. She was sweating from the exhaustion and not only that she only wearing her nightgown with a small blanket around her shoulders. Her hair was tied in a rush by Sandhya in a bun. She doesn't need to see her reflection to know that she looks terrible.

"Your Imperial Majesty, if you don't mind I will like to hold my son now."

There was a slight shock in his face when he looks at her but the shock quickly turns into disgust and hatred. Instead of giving the baby to her directly, he places the child inside the crib instead.

"The doctor had told me he hadn't even cried ever since he was born... why is that?" it was surprising how he still look at her in hate but could still ask her about his own child.

I mean surely there are other people here. Wait, where did everyone run off to? Did they run off as soon she stepped inside so that only two bodies will be found and not more?

Well, whatever. She hadn't managed to look at her child yet. Shouldn't the mother be the first one to look at her own child that she had just given birth to like every normal situation? But again she was in the presence of the devil himself so anything normal is abnormal in this particular household.

Her legs could barely even function so she had no other choice but to kneel down beside the crib to look at him. When she looks inside the crib, her heart momentarily stopped.

The baby was looking around him with curious eyes. He was wrapped neatly like a small burrito. But his face was already enough for her to fall in love. He has the most beautiful grape shape eyes that remind her of a ruby gem. There was also a few strands of grey hair on his head.

How adorable! He has the chubbiest cheeks she has ever seen. She wonders what it felt like pinching those adorable cheeks. Her curiosity took the better of her and before she knew it she was pinching his cheeks. It was so soft! It somehow reminds her of fluffy marshmallows. She didn't know what possessed her but she really wants to boast to someone about her own child. And the only person left in the room was the emperor.

She was about to call out to him but he has already stood right behind her already. His figure was already tall it hurt her neck just looking up at him while she was kneeling, "Look, Your Imperial Majesty, he has such soft cheeks!"

Perhaps the baby's cheeks were so tempting that he too couldn't help but reach out and pinch it. She didn't have to look at the reaction of her son's face to know that he pinched him too hard. The newborn furrowed its eyebrows but instead of crying out loud it just stares at both of them with its big and clear red eyes.

She couldn't take any more of the abuse, "Your Imperial Majesty! You're being too rough on him! Be gentle! Be gentle!" She has to pull his hands away from those cheeks when she noted her son's eyes began tearing up but he still hadn't cried at all.

That was odd.

"Why wasn't he crying?" it shocks her how they could think of the same thing and when she looks up at him she saw how he was as surprised as she was. He furrowed his eyebrows and quickly broke the eye contact to look at the open door.

"Doctor, why isn't he crying?"

Wait, is everyone standing right outside and out of sight the whole time? Just as she thought, the doctor slowly came into view at the front of the door. Somehow, why is the doctor look so nervous?

The elder man clear his throat before he speaks, "Maybe the young prince is a gifted child?"

Why is it sound more like a question instead of a fact?

Even though in this world she has not much contact with babies but the other soul in her body has once raised her baby cousin. So she could say she has some experience with them and from the memories, she knows something wasn't just right with her son. He had not even once cried at all. Isn't that something every new mother should be worried about?

"The young prince should be sleeping with me from now on until I finally figure out what was the cause of his lack of crying and until then he will be sleeping in my room", she needs to lean most of her weight to the crib just to stand up.

"But Your Imperial Majesty", the doctor was prepared to defend his answer to avoid any of the royal family having doubt in his skills.

"There's nothing else to discuss. Put his crib inside my room. Sandhya, carry the young prince", her voice easily states that no one will refute the decision that she made.

She thought it will be a good idea to walk away right after giving out an order. It will give her a powerful image walking away but, sadly, god wasn't on her side. Her legs immediately gave away. Right when she thought she will be an acquaintance to the floor, a strong warm arm wrapped itself around her waist. It's good that she could avoid meeting the floor but now she just jumps straight ahead inside a beast's mouth.

She was sure there was some distance between him and her, right? It wasn't her intention at all to fall in his arms. No, not at all.

She couldn't dare to look up at him at all. Instead, she looks down the whole time. The only thing she was sure it was him was his toned and muscled body. Damn, that's one heck of a chest. Just imagine this man on the bed. No! What was she thinking? She quickly tries to make some distance away from him.

"Um... Thank you for your help, Your Imperial Majesty... You can let me go now... I can stand for myself..."

"Hmm... fine then"

Wha- right after he said that he quickly took back his arm to his side and only she manages to stand for about five seconds before Sandhya came to her rescue. Oh! She never loves that girl more than right at that moment. When she looked up, Sandhya was already smiling apologetically to her. She must remember how she needed her the whole time but she left her by herself with the emperor. I'm still mad at you, you know.

When she left the room first she managed to take a glimpse of the emperor picking up her son from his crib. She really wants to turn around and just snatched the baby away but Sandhya strong arms hadn't allowed her to do just that. She had no idea what was his expression when he held his own son in his arms. She only hopes it wasn't anything bad.
