The cart continue its journey to the place Calwick will call home in many years. As the sun was setting the cart finally stops on top of a hill,
Malon turns to look at the sleeping boy gently waking the boy up from the dreamland
" Calwick we're near at the town now" after that Calwick gently open his eyes
"What is it time to write again?" He said hoarse from sleep
"Hey , were near at the town now you wake up from your dream now" Malon said in an amused tone
" Oh okay" he said while yawning
" Now that you were awake. I welcome you to your new home the town of Lore!!" Malon said in a cheerful tone
Calwick was shocked by the sudden shout. He turned to look at the place that makes his uncle so cheerful and he was instantly mesmerized on what he saw.
It was a big town that was shining with a golden glow of the setting sun the town was encased inside a wall protecting it from the wild creatures that walks on the forest.
"Wow that place was beautiful" Calwick said enjoying the beauty of a place his going to call home
" Hehehe Glad you like the town. Now of we go there's still a 30 minute ride before we arrive at the gate" Malon informed the boy
The duo ride the cart before they arrive at the entrance of the town
When they arrived at the gate they were asked to stop by the guards
" Halt!" The guard shouted
" Show us your identity licence " the guard requested
Malon gave his identity licence
" What about the kid where's his?" The guard ask while pointing his glare
Calwick was shocked, why was the guard glaring at him? He literally didn't do anything. He turned at Malon
"Oh right he was my student that lives in the forest so he never really had a chance to Register" Quickly explained Malon
The guard just looked at the duo that now a pair of uncle and nephew
" Well you better register him when you get inside so his identity can be verified and what is in the back of your cart?" The guard questions them again
" I will remember about, and the things at the back are the things that Owner Clark requested" Malon said
When the guard heard that the things at the back are for Owner Clark he suddenly have a look of understanding and let the duo in.
" You may now pass. For you it was 1 bronze and for the kid it was 3"
Malon get the coins on his bag and given it to the guard
" Huh? Why do we have to pay and why is mine three times higher than uncle was?" Calwick suddenly question
The guard then looked at Calwick
" That's the law here kid if you don't want to pay then don't go inside" the guard said to the boy
" Are deliberately provoking us!? " Calwick said
Before the guard could say anything Malon quickly intervene
" I'm sorry for the behavior of the kid mister guard he was just agitated by the new environment so please forgive him" Malon defended Calwick
" Yes I understand you may go now"
With that Malon quickly drive the cart inside the town. Inside the town Calwick couldn't help but ask
" Uncle why was my pay much higher than yours?"
" It's because you do not have a Identity License yet" explained the man
" But what makes it so important that you have to pay 3 times the prize on entrance?"
" The identity card has many uses and one of those is keeping records on who enters the town so if you don't have one you just cant easily enter a town because you will have no record that you enter the town if you don't have one except if you were brought by one that has one"
Explained Malon while Calwick was earnestly listening
" But that doesn't really explain my question earlier uncle" he ask
" If you didn't have a record there, they take risk that you were a bad guy so to make up for that they take three times the price" Malon explain while smiling
They continue there ride along the the path towards the shop that requested the herbs
They were heading towards the central district near the center of the town. After almost an hour of talking they finally reach the shop of the one called Clark.
Clark's shop was a humble looking shop with a simple board at the top of the door bearing the shop's name: Broken Herbs Manor
They got down from the cart and they entered the shop. The interior has an homey feel to it. Just like you were strolling at your own house. The only difference was it was full of shelves containing different kind of plants and flora
The moment Calwick got inside he was amazed on the items that was displayed on the shelves. The shelves had a glass in the front protecting the things that was inside.
He was fascinated by different strange plants displayed. They were a grass that was glowing, a flower that has leaves as petals
He was observing the inside of shelves when Malon suddenly called for him
" Calwick let's go to the counter. I will submit my goods to the owner"
So Calwick was suddenly snapped out of his fascination when he was dragged to the counter
When they reach the counter they were immediately greeted by the one manning the counter
The man has a tan skin and a face that looks like he was in forties and a bulging muscles so he kinda looked comical while sitting at the counter
" Malon!! Your here I've been waiting for the things that I requested" the man said with a beaming smile on his face
" I'm sorry for the wait owner Clark. The things are in the cart waiting to be checked" Malon said respectfully
" How many times do I have to say to that you don't have to talk to me so respectfully. We've known each other for almost a year now." Owner Clark said while he was walking out of the counter booth.
Malon just smiled at him and said nothing
Clark knows that Malon won't answer so he didn't pursue the topic. After he got out of the booth he suddenly noticed the boy beside Malon
" Oh? and who is this child Malon is this your secret love child!?" He asked
Calwick was shocked on what the man said and so was Malon but before he could say anything Malon beat him to it
" No, he was my student that. He just don't have a place to go so he will live with me" clarified by him
Clark did not say anything and looked at Malon with squinted eyes like he looked at the most obvious liar.
