Today, I looked out the window and there was a sparkling curtain of rain falling from the sky. The sun was still beaming and I could see the glimmer of blinding light that reflected from the metal pipes on the roof.

It was so bright, I had to cover my eyes.

It was too dazzling to look at.

It made me feel self-conscious, like the sun was watching my every movement and bathing me in a floodlight of too-much attention. Like I was being scrutinized for every virtue or flaw that might ostensibly be on my skin.

So of course, I hid in a place where it couldn’t see me.
