A bright, flickering light pierced through the darkness. Piles of rubble and building materials were momentarily visible each time the light pulsed. A dazzling, white tear appeared in midair and seemed to rend a gash in reality itself, revealing a growing, luminescent window that hung in the center of the vast, dark room. 

 

The intensity of the light continued to grow with the size of the tear. Suddenly, as the oval anomaly reached the size of a grown man, the light winked out entirely, leaving an inky, black mass floating in the darkness. 

 

Barely distinguishable in the dark room, tiny tendrils of mist drifted out of the black opening.
