CHAPTER 125: ELDER ANCIENTECH DRAGON

XENON WINGATE

PRESENT DAY 

The Psychic Amplifier was gone in just a blink of an eye. It was so crushed that nothing but ashes remain in its place. The power of the Pentagram Dragon is a divine construct, so it’s only natural that it can destroy an ancient pillar that is bound to control the whole world.

However, something doesn't feel right. We may have exhausted our magical energy in focusing the raid here on this island and destroyed the original Psychic Amplifier, but there is this gut feeling that the fight is far from over. Even though all the enemies have been defeated, even though our objective is done, I can’t help but feel uneasy.

“Xen… You’re feeling it too, right?” My Nexus Blaster Dragon telepathically talked to me. Her worried tone means that it isn’t just me who has this illogical hunch at all.

“Brace yourselves, fuckers. I think this is far from over.” Alphonse said with sweat crawling on his cheeks and jaw. He looked at me, and then to Danielle on the airship, and finally to the emperor who is riding the gigantic Pentagram Dragon.

The emperor’s eyes became sharp as he glared at the crater. He knew that the Psychic Amplifier is not the only thing on this island. When he raised his hand, all the dragon knights, including us, rode our dragons and floated in the air.

“There’s powerful magical energy on this island. We may need to demolish this whole continent after all.” Emperor Sirius Elkyria said.

Suddenly, the ground trembled in the strength of magnitude ten. The sakura trees started to fall, and cherry blossom leaves scattered around the atmosphere. I can hear the distant splashes of the ocean as if the ripples are constantly creating tsunamis itself. I can hear a long beeping noise in the skies that sound like trumpets in the incoming apocalypse.

“-----______-----____-----____________---------------____-----!!!”

It was a deafening whale-like sound. No, it’s not that close. I think it came from a creature that is far bigger than that. As the sound continued, the tectonic plates of the island shifted. Fissures were formed, and waterfalls were created. A gargantuan lump of land sunk into the ocean as a golden brown kind of platform rose up. 

“Everybody, get back!” The emperor commanded. With his shout, we immediately flew away from the island with a speed like there’s no tomorrow. This intense fear we’ve been feeling all along does not come from the Psychic Amplifier itself. It comes from the thing that is below it.

When we finally made it to a safe distance, we saw the terrifying whole picture of this island. Cherry Island is no more. In fact, Cherry Island is not an island at all. It is a creature that is so humongous that it is the largest thing I have ever seen in my life.

“What the fuck is that!?” Alphonse couldn’t help but curse.

In front of us, is a dragon of ancient primordial origin. Only the upper half of its body is visible, and its lower body is way beneath the ocean. However, even with just its upper body, it is already towering miles high. It is able to topple down mountains with just one claw. Its whole body is golden and golden brown, and there is some rust on parts of its bionic metal-like skin. There are glowing linings all over its body that contains ancient runes of alien scriptures. It does have large wings that can cover an archipelago, but the lower half of these limbs are submerged in the ocean, making it unable to fly. Its head is shaped like a horseshoe that looks like a battleship, with sharp fangs. Its eyes have a familiar crimson irises and black sclera.

Its snout has this shattered horn or something. It has the same spiral tower design of those of the Psychic Amplifier, which indicates that the Psychic Amplifier that got destroyed a moment ago, was just its horn. 

“----________---------_______________________!!!!” The colossal creature roared once again, making a shockwave that repelled all the clouds in the skies. The ocean became fierce as it unleashed a series of tsunamis in the vast ocean. 

“The Psychic Amplifier… is this dragon all along!?” One of the dragon knights muttered.

“How are we supposed to deal with that thing?” The other dragon knight said.

We’re actually doomed. I never thought that the ancient stories that Sakuradrop told me are true. This continent-sized dragon is a primordial creation god. According to the myth, this creature once fought Necross Ascension during the primal times, and after Necross’ defeat, it formed itself into the world’s islands. This is the ultimate Elder Ancientech Dragon.

Suddenly, the Elder Ancientech Dragon’s Eye of Deus locked unto our airships. It raised its golden claws and made a large, powerful, and swift strike like swatting a fly. 

“Incoming! Evasive maneuvers!” The airship captains cried as they tried to get away from the effective range of the attack. However, the claws are too large. The attack was so swift despite its size. Because of the air friction, the claws of the Elder Ancientech Dragon was coated with flames before it caught three of the airships on its palm.

Several airships exploded. Even though the other four airships were not caught by the attack, they exploded because of the shockwave. All the other airships were damaged due to the intense wind pressure. In this fight, we are nothing but ants. One near hit of any of its attacks, and we’re dead.

“Everyone, fire at will!” The emperor pointed its sword towards the ultimate enemy. With his command, all the dragon knights, all the airships, and all the dreadnoughts unleashed their fireballs, photon blasters, and nuclear missiles. We aimed in every direction but focused more on its head and chest.

“----_______-------______------!!!”

The barrages of heavy bombardments continued for only three minutes. We immediately halted when the Elder Ancientech Dragon wiped off the mushroom clouds and explosion smoke on its face. Even with all those attacks, we were not able to make a scratch or dent on the colossal enemy.

“Pentagram Dragon, unleash your fury once more! Supreme Death Ray!” As soon as the emperor pointed his sword towards the continental dragon, the Pentagram Dragon unleashed its ultimate attack once more. All five heads created dark energy beams from their mouths, directed to the Elder Ancientech Dragon’s head. 

“GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!”

The Supreme Death Ray’s attack is being resisted. The continental dragon’s head appears like a spoon catching a stream of water from a faucet. The beam did not have any effect on the enemy‘s face at all, so the Pentagram Dragon redirected its blaster all the way down to the Elder Ancientech Dragon’s chest.

“What the hell are you!? Die already!” The emperor shouted out loud.

However, the death ray did not have any effect. Not even a scratch. It’s like all kinds of magic, technology, or any brute force, firepower, or heart-stopping curse is being negated the moment it touches the Elder Ancientech Dragon’s skin. I don’t sense any magic on that colossal creature either, so I don’t think a Negate magic could work.

When the Supreme Death Ray failed, all of us finally noticed one undeniable fact. This enemy does not belong to the living or the dead. This colossal creature called Elder Ancientech Dragon is a thing that is beyond all mortal’s comprehension. 

Suddenly, the Elder Ancientech Dragon decided to strike back. It gathered momentum from its gargantuan left and right claws and made a twin claw hook attack on the ocean. Five dreadnoughts immediately exploded after being hit by the giant arms, while fifteen dreadnoughts sunk due to the tsunami its attack created. Two airships also exploded upon unluckily catching a shockwave of its attack.

“This… this is impossible…” The emperor’s eyes are now feared with fear as he saw his troops die. “How... are we able to defeat this thing?”

"We can’t be giving up now!” I shouted out loud, trying to boost the morale of the dragon knights and the emperor. “We’ll do all that we can to destroy that thing!”

I and my Nexus Blaster Dragon gathered natural energy in the air until we were finally able to unleash our Elforms. My Nexus Blaster Dragon’s colors were changed from blue-and-white to white-and-gold, and there is now a large V sigil on my dragon’s chest. She was now able to activate both dragon forms and Elform just like Lothar Pendragon, and it is now safe to say that Serena is now as powerful as those of a legendary Yamato Dragon.

“Endless Forge!” I cried out loud. A gigantic magical circle appeared in the skies and created thousands of swords that rained towards the Elder Ancientech Dragon. However, all those swords just bounced off upon striking the enemy’s impenetrable skin.

I was about to deliver another of my attacks until somebody talked to me via earpiece radio. It was Danielle.

“Senor Xenon, don’t exhaust yourself. You better save your energy here.”

I immediately commanded my Nexus Blaster Dragon to put a large distance from the Elder Ancientech Dragon. Alphonse and his Elemental Dragon regrouped on me as we try to focus our ears on our acting Supreme Commander.

“It seems like you have some kind of plan, you bitch,” Alphonse said.

“Ohoho, it’s not a plan, Senor,” Danielle said. “It’s just a presumption from basic logic. You two muscle heads should go back to your textbooks.”

“Stop insulting us, you fucking bimbo. Tell us what you have in your mind.” Alphonse said.

“Okay, so here it is.” Danielle cleared her throat. “The basic principle of Vesryn Pulse is that there must be a synchronization of a human and a dragonoid’s heart. A dragon’s heart must stay in harmony with a knight’s heart to maintain its dragon form unless you’re a Dragon Queen like your lovely Serena there.”

“Mind to cut the bullshit and go straight to the point?” I said, My gears are being grinded, and I don’t like taking leisure on answering riddles.

“It just means that this Elder Ancientech Dragon has a knight somewhere that is maintaining its power. That knight must also be the one protecting the Elder Ancientech Dragon’s heart, making it immune to the Supreme Death Ray. All we need to do is to locate this human that is using Vesryn Pulse and defeat him in order to end this abomination.”
