It takes us a couple hours before reach our destination. As I look up the village entrance, there seems to be a sign written in Ntaj's language so I can't read it. Caesar tells us the name of the village is Erutan Mon.  There seems to be two guards on post by the entrance of the village and they wave to Caesar. They are equipped with full plate armor and have a sword and spear. Maybe Caesar knows them? Who knows. Caesar stops his wagon near a building that looks like an office with a bell on top of it.

"Check in with the building. They'll talk to you four about the quest I believe. Also good luck in there." Caesar says waving with Ellie

We nod and walk into the building. We enter the building to see a young petite girl with glasses with her hair braided. She has green hair and yellow eyes.

"So you four are the adventurers who were sent on this quest? You guys really took your time that my dad had to go into the mines!" She scoffs at us

First opinion rude.

"Uh... that's not our fault though." Dalton tells her

"I don't care. Just go do your quest or something." She tells us

. . . Well, that was quick. Anyway, we head out in the direction of the mines after walking out. As we were heading over to the direction of the mine a muscular fellow walks up to us. He had a couple of scars around his body.

"You four heading into the mines?" he asks us

"Yes. We were sent here to do a quest to help you guys exterminate the monsters in the mines." Dalton answers him

"Ah so you four are the adventurers to answer our call. Thanks, though I'm sure most people were expecting more experienced adventurers." he tells us

"Uh... how do you know that? or well that we are not experienced?" I ask

"Well the armor slightly gives a hint to it. Also I know that lady over there and her rank." he says as he points at Andr

"Okay then." I say with a shrug

"Well anyway, those monsters in the mines. A couple of goblins but its mostly filled with those fire slugs. Most of those buggers killed the goblins which is helpful but doesn't have anything to control them in there. So all you have to worry about is some slugs. Help us deal with those and we can finish the rest and the guild will give you your pay. Anyway the names Tom." he tells us

"I'm Dalton, the blonde girl is Destiny, the black hair dude is Link, and the light blue hair girl is Andr. Which you already know." replies Dalton

"Well, I would join you folks in helping clean those monsters but I have to help tend to the injured from my group. We went in already and got hurt a couple times nothing too bad but we wanna rest. It's been a long day. Also, could you help those others in the mines it would help us." Tom tells us

"Sure we can. Anyway we should get going then." Dalton says

We continue going in the direction of the mines and see the camp near it with tons of other miners and women. Most of them are just recovering from small burns. We eventually reach the mines. There are multiple pathways, which only makes this more confusing to traverse.

"This is gonna be like a maze." I say with a sigh

"Could be a lot worse I think." Dalton tells me

"I mean as long as we don't split up we'll be fine." Destiny says

"Let's not worry too much guys." Andr assures us

We step into the mines. A hot breeze blows over us. I hate this type of breeze, well I hate hot air in general as it makes it harder for me to breathe. We enter and immediately see two of those fire slug things. It's well, a slug on fire, literally.

"Be careful those things can spew out fire." Andr says as she puts her arm out in front of Dalton

"Oh." Dalton says as he stops gripping his sword

"Best we deal with these things from long range as we won't have to deal with getting injuries." Andr tells us as a suggestion

Me and Dalton end up sitting out as were melee users and the girls are ranged. Destiny shoots an ice bolt at one and freezes it to death. Andr throws a light spear at one. I won't question it but shrug. After they killed the monsters we continue walking. We decide not to split into groups as it would probably be dangerous. We continue walking down our path and kill more fire slugs. We eventually find a group of miners fighting a group of fire slugs and join them. Dalton and I also get to slash at them finally since there are a lot more of them. We continue slashing and casting spells. After we finish off the rest the group thanks us and we take a 10 minute break to recover.

"Hey, shouldn't we be doing more of the work since you guys have limited mana?" I ask the group

"Maybe." Dalton says

"It would allow us to take a break." Andr says with Destiny nodding

"I think Destiny wants to put more work on us." I whisper to Dalton

"Probably." Dalton says with a chuckles

I shrug. We continue walking around the mines. Eventually, we see a fire slug bigger than the standard ones.

"Chunky boy if I say so myself." I tell Dalton

"Yep." he replies

I think to myself. Since they spew out fire, I could technically block the fire as it won't burn this shield as its metal.

"So I block distract the bigger one and you slash at it?" I suggest

"Sure." he replies

I walk up to the big fire slug and stab it. I get it attention and it starts to spew fire at me. I block it, and also start moving as I don't wanna deal with the fire expanding over the shield and burning me in general. As this was going on Dalton throws one of his swords and then slashes the slug with his fire sword. It dies and starts to wither and shrink like a slug would do if it touched salt. Luckily the fire didn't burn me but it did touch my shirt. The left shoulder part of the shirt was burnt.

"Well rip your shirt." Dalton tells me

"Yeah... well, luckily I still have my sweater in my bag." I tell Dalton

"Nice." he replies

As we continue walking, we see 3 doors. We open one of the doors and they seem to be rooms. I go the other way to another door which was the farthest and the rest go to the other door. I open the door only to find mutilated bodies and bodies which were burnt. Holy shit that's just fucking disgusting. I want to puke but I stop myself and close the door. Holy shit, good thing I have seen some shit so that wasn't as bad as it would be for anyone who hasn't seen those types of things. I wish I had that mind eraser from the society of the blind eye now haha.

As I look back at the group they seem to be coming my way. As they were walking towards me the mines started to shake and the ceiling in between me and the group breaks apart and falls making it so they can't reach. I could hear them asking each other if they were okay.

"LINK! You ok over there?" Dalton yells

"Yeah! I'm fine." I yell back

As Dalton was about to speak again we could the sounds of a girl and a man screaming in pain. It hurt to listen to the screams and it annoyed me. It got silent. . .

"Uhhh... Link we'll have to take the other path to meet up with you again. Don't do anything stupid if you investigate the screaming." Dalton yells at me

"Yea I fucking won't." I yell back at him again

I can hear them walking away. Well, there is only one way for me to go, and that is forward. I must press forward even through fear which I prefer to not be alone even though I'm a loner. Ironic if I say so myself. I continue walking the path forward
