In a dark room the shadowy figure of a man was seen slowly writing something down with a pen. His gloomy eyes showed no emotions, his presence as heavy as a mountain and a deathly silence followed him, emanated from him.

His hands were swift and his pen danced on the paper like a fairy in the starry night, naked and graceful. His writing looked illegible like the scribbles of a kid , but the man had his whole attention , his whole being poured into those simple words, imbuing them with his very will.

*Cracker*

The candle flame swayed gently in the air and the light it cast upon the man left a long shadow on the wall. The man's shadow was no 'man' , but something different. The candles warm light brought into view the figure of a monster. His body was cloaked by rolling shadows and the only things that were obvious was that he was very tall even though he was sitting down on a chair and that he was a fighter.

His hand that was holding the pen so elegantly was very beat up . The skin was corase, the fingers were big, veins were clearly seen and most importantly; his hands were filled with scars. Some of the scars were small, some big and some even covered his whole hand, but one thing was certain if one looked at his hands.

They had killed many.

' If the old me knew what would happen to me after I discovered 'that' app I would have probably never downloaded it and I would have never played it, or would have I ? I'll never know the answer to that question. The past is far behind me but the sorrow, the anger, the tears , the loss of something that I never knew was that precious.

I would give everything I have to return to the blissful ignorance of a human I once was.I have really forgot what it means to be a human, but that is not the most important thing anymore. This world is in chaos and unfortunately I have to fight for what's left of it, because no one else will.'

.......

A young man was laying on the couch leisurely and had on a pair of earphones that blasted music to his ears.

"Hmmm hmm...

He was humming along with the rhythm of the song when someone approached him and took his earphones off without warning.

He was startled and raised his head.

"Son, why are you lying there with your earphones on and not enjoying this beautiful day of your summer break? You have to enjoy life while you are young , because when you come to my age you won't have the time to do anything anymore, so.."

The young man looked at the one who took his earphones  in anger.

"Okay, okay I get it so how about you leave me alone for now? I'm just relaxing for a bit."

The young man the put his earphones back on and continued listening to the music, but someone suddenly pulled the earphones out

"Hey what are you doing , give it back!"

"No , you won't have your phone back until you change your attitude. When I was your age I already had a good job even though I had only finished high school and it was not much longer that you older brother was born. Now look at you!

You have no job,no friends and you don't even know what you want to become. If you were even a little bit like your brother then...

Why am I even bothering with you?"

" Yeah, I also ask myself that same question? Also, I'll never be my brother no mater how much you or mom want so deal with it."

*Slap*

"You ungrateful....

The young man rose to his feet and stood right in front of his father.

"I'm ungrateful?

If I didn't have some respect left for you and if you weren't my father I would have punched you in the...

"OUT, GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE! "

The young man looked at his father's eyes for a second and lost all his fighting spirit. He knew this was not going to go go well so he took his wallet with him and just left.

'Its not worth it.'

......

After he went out of the house he just started roaming the streets aimlessly. The walking made him somewhat forget about what was happening.

"Huuu... that went well."

The young man walked slowly along the sidewalk while looking at all the other people that were around him. Some were smiling, some were not , while some didn't show any emotion at all in their face. This made him angry, but he knew he was just jealous.

' How many of these people are actually happy?'

Looking at these people he wondered if everything was going to be okay, and in a short time he arrived at the conclusion that he didn't care anymore. Since that day he had lost all his motivation, his passion and was just living life for the sake of living.

' How pointless.'

He had given hope a long time ago but he still clung to some things that brought him normalcy and one of those things was music. Before, he wasn't a person who listened to music looking for a deeper meaning to the songs and only listen because other people his age were listening to that song or just because I felt the lyrics were cool, but not it was different.

' When I look back at myself I can only think that I was to naive. The world is not cruel at all, but it surely doesn't care. Hah....I've already become an old man.'

The young man continued his walk with this eyes half open while old memories came flooding in. Some were good, some were bad, but those were the only things that mattered anymore. He wasn't looking forward to the future, he was just living in the present , remembering the past.

'Shit, why do I have to remember now?'

He reached to his pocket and he panicked. He patted himself all over again and again, but he found nothing.

'F*ck, I don't have my phone with me. Shit, what do I do now? Can I go back home? Nah with how the conversation ended I don't think I'll get my phone back anytime soon.

Shit, what the hell am I supposed to do?'

He wrecked his brains  thinking for a solution and found it and it was in front of him. A dirty glass door with cheep plastic sign saying OPEN on it.

"Huh? I got it!"

The young man ran across the street and came before a pawn shop. It was a local pawnshop that had been there for more ten years , but he hadn't been inside before.

' I'm sure I'll find a cheap phone to buy here. I only have 100$ on my wallet left from the 200$ I received on my birthday a week ago , but I have no choice.

I'm sorry grandma.'

The sound of the bell was heard as he opened the door and a rough voice of a man followed right after.

"How can I help you?"

In front of the young man there stood a fat, hairy middle aged man blocking his view.

"Umm, I'm looking for a phone."

"A phone is it? What is your limit?"

"Limit?"

"Yes, limit. How much are you looking to spend for your phone?"

"I'm looking for something for less than 100 dollars."

"Hmm , let me check in the back. Just wait here for a minute and don't do anything stupid."

After about five minutes the man came again and with him was a phone in hand .He put it on the counter and pushed it to the young man.

" I'll sell you this to you for 95 $, no less."

The young man took a look at the shabby off brand phone and tried not to show the disdain in his face.

' Well I can't really complain. With one hundred dollars you really can't by a quality phone.I guess I'll have to do with this.'

"Deal, I'll take it."

He handed the man the money which was counted three times before the man was satisfied.

"Nice doing business with you."

......

After buying the phone he went to the local library to get some free Wi-Fi for his new phone. He sat down on the soft chair , took out his old and used phone , put his earphones on and started to look for some music on Youtube , but he couldn't find any peace. His thoughts rolled over and over on his head, leaving him sad.

' F*ck this , I'll just look if there is some new game to waste my time with.'

After signing in he looked at the game section. He spent a couple minutes looking for something interesting until something caught his eye.

"Huh, what's this about? 'Gamer'?"

In the list of games there was one app in peculiar and that was an app called 'Gamer'. He was intrigued and decided to see what it was about.

"What ,why is there no imagine of gameplay for this app? Is there a glitch?"

He continued to look and in the description he only saw one sentence. In fact it was more of a statement than a description.

[Level up yourself.]

' Level up myself? What does  that mean? Is this an RPG game?

He thought about the meaning of the sentence for a second before just downloading it. He didn't have the interest to really figure it out, he only wanted to play something.

'F*ck it, I don't care if it is just a trash game. I'll just uninstall it if it's trash. Worst case scenario I'll get a virus or something.'

Boy, was he wrong.
