" Shit.” I mutter as I throw the empty milk jug at Greg.

Greg catches it and looks around for somewhere to throw it away before giving up and continuing to hold it like a baby in his arms.

" It’s been so long, you never visit.”

" Hey . . . Evan.” I cringe as he pulls me into an embrace.

I see Greg glaring at me as I mouth ‘help me’ multiple times, but he just continues to glare.

Evan’s grip loosens enough for me to step away from him momentarily.

" How have you been ? When you left you gave us all quite the scare.”

" Ah, really, that . . . uhh . . . sucks.” I say slowly.

" Don’t say it like that, we all missed you.” Evan pats my back.

" Yeah, cool.”

" Anyway, I have to go check up on everyone, I’m the Beta now since my grandfather retired.” He beams at me,” But we have to catch up later.”

Evan waves goodbye as he runs into the house full of energy.

I turn to Greg,” Why didn’t you do anything ?”

" He just ignored me.” Greg says as he stares aimlessly at the spot Evan had been standing in.

" Yeah, well that’s possible when you don’t assert your dominance by enhancing your aura and scent. That’s why no one is having those sneezing fits, it’s very courteous of you.” I mutter.

" That pup just ignored me, even if I don’t assert my dominance, I’m still an Alpha and he didn’t even acknowledge me.” Greg growls.

" He’s too listless to do those things all the time, cut him some slack.”

Greg suddenly turns to me,” And you.”

" Me, what ?” I ask.

" I thought you said no one dared touch you.” He hisses.

" Err . . . Well -” I stutter.

" Who is he to you ?”

" It’s complicated.” I say.

" It can’t be that complicated, Lucy.” He says.

" Well, it is, sorry Greg.”

" You’re either in a relationship with that man or you aren’t.” Greg growls,” Did you used to fuck him ?” Greg asks,” Or are you two still -”

" Shut up Greg!” I yell,” I told you it’s complicated.”

" Then try to un-complicate it for me.”

Telling him a lie to placate him will be easier than fighting him on why I should tell him anything. I sigh.

" It sounds bad.” I say,” But he was my fiancé and - .”

" What?” Greg growls.

" Shut up and let me explain.” I clear my throat,” Anyway it started off with my parents being stressed and worried about my health because I hadn’t shifted . . . ”
