By the time you read this, beloved Reader, the funeral has already taken place. President Chem Jiama, named the Overlord by most, Fat Whiskers by the more picaresque, found his death during the celebration of the end of half of his second term, hosted at the Hall of Heroism.
If you have read the other journals, you may have noticed that they all say the same and leave out the rest - it was obviously a conspiracy by those resentful leftovers from the Violence, the Overlord faced his death heroically, and nothing else as to what transpired.
You will forgive this Servant of Yours for coming out late with the details, what with the heavy hand of the Authorities combating the gossips and slanders against such recent happenings.
But it was all for nought, for We now have it on good authority that Fat Whiskers never saw the assassin approach, never saw the gun being pulled up, and never reacted when the vicious face stared close enough to speak to him. A rather repeated stroke from destiny for the one who benefit from the death of the Stoneface, General Vilk Cezera, during the Violence.
Now it is his Deputy, General Xiri Yajes, whom is imposed as the new President. Already on the streets and in the coffeehouses, and if you beloved Reader are being honest, in your houses, you are already making biting remarks about how the Overlord's General was the one behind it all. After all, what need would there be for the metropolitan police forces patrolling in conjunction with the Military to suppress such "washroom chattering" if it is indeed fake?
Amidst all this commotion, there is a neglected story that your ever-diligent Servant has endeavored to inquire about: the assassin and what His motive was.
Riogi Gazca, the odious young man shot by the walls of the Lyokim Fortress a few days ago, is someone who seems too perfect for the role placed upon him. No know criminal affiliations, no presence in the affairs of the Public. In fact, no presence at all until he fired upon the President. And an individual with such an unremarkable physique: lanky, sullen, sunken eyed.
It is a lamentable fact that the motive for the killing is something that He took to the bitter grave. That is: only the Military knows what they made Him reveal, for it is questionable whether the High Maiden could even peer into Lyokim Fortress without the bestial urges of its Wardens being tempted into a blasphemous frenzy.
Whatever was it that instigated in His heart to take an action that would end in doom, it must have been powerful enough that greed alone would not satiate.
If He is to play some avenging shade from the Violence, would the role best be played by someone closer to Fat Whiskers? Perhaps someone directly harmed by those under under arms of the Overlord? And if this Riogi Gazca was avenging a family member of His, then what transgression was committed?
This Publication cannot hope to answer these questions in a timely fashion, but We can assert that the longer they go unanswered the more they will be swamped in myth and storytelling. It is already happening right now.
