Yay! Hello. Why I'm so excited? It's bad news. Very bad news.
Anyway. Hi guys and sorry to give you bad news. As is right now, I'm doing a small pause in the chapters release. Simply put, I'm gonna edit every chapter that is currently available. Reason?
"Because they lack a bit of depth and Detail."
No, I won't be stopping in writing the new ones. Is just that, after I took a look on my other novel, I noticed this one wasn't very different. Yes, I know that that's completely normal, after all, I'm not a pro writer, just an amateur. But the novel lacks a bit of detail that it would be nice to see.
I'm currently reading the Overlord novel, and man! How much detail it has! It's a lot! The writer makes you dive into the novel and makes you be there facing and seeing what it's written. And that's what a novel does. Mine on the other hand, I don't think it has that same aspect.
"But you're comparing yourself to someone who has a entire team to help him out. That is a mistake you know?"
"Oh, don't worry. I'm not exactly comparing myself. I'm just saying."
Anyway, another reason as to why I'm doing this, was after some critic on RR. It was a constructive criticism, which is the right criticism, and that made me think more on the chapters I published.
"So, why are you so happy?"
"Because the discord Server!"
Yep! I'm launching the Discord Server together with this announcement. Actually, it was already made, but I wanted to publish after the first Arc, but as it is right now, that won't do. I need help.
"I gotta need some help!"
I'm without Ideas to do the story. As it is right now, the chapter which was to be launched Sunday, was slow paced, and with the Status of the MC. Tell you the truth, I should have shown to you guys before. Because I'm lost on it. I'd made it sound he got lots of skills and levels, which is wrong, since he has the Abnormal Status condition.
"But it didn't changed him a lot, did it?"
It didn't. In fact, it didn't change anything! But it is strange for me. When I take a look, I just want to stop, toss the novel away, and let you guys on the dark. But that's not cool. That's bad. I did this on the past, and lefts a bad taste in the mouth.
But anyway, Here's the Discord Server. Come there to talk to me, and so help me out please! https://discord.gg/wVtu6DYc
Great job
I think it already has enough detail. Too much detail is a trap you can easily fall into, which I personally think happened with Overlord.
That's true, some details could have be left aside. Buy there are somethings that I simply read here on my novel, and ask myself: wait. Where did I put that?
And when Im searching, I found out there it isn't anywhere. So, I won't be putting like an entire page with detail over detail. Not about what the mc does, but things around him. I forgot lots of things in the novel, so I'll be rewriting them to be more interesting.
One good example, is the showing instead of telling. There's a lot of that here
In my opinion the overlord got too much info... I tried reading it after seeing the first season of the anime and dear lord 9/10 of it is just item descriptions!!! Maybe it gets better later but for me it was just off putting... but in a way it was a good thing since I don't like reading about evil mc... I know I know should had seen it comming but the first season/ arc makes him relateable. If you want a isekai that is well written then in my opinion "reincarnated as a spider" (kumo desu ka nani ka) is a really well written novel and it really upset me that it only shows the mc was evil all along at chapter 100 ish. Reincarnated as a slime is also a good example but that one got "justifyable evil actions" but the mc never crosses the line of truly giving in to evil. This rant of mine really derailed lol anyway I hope everyone reading this has a good day
The overlord novel has a big difference from the anime. Yes, it does have a few things that, in my opinion, didn't add much, so sometimes I jump them, and honestly? They don't make much of a difference later or.
As for Kumo Desu ga? I read it. And sometimes read again. I mean the LN not the WB, but I read some of it, and there too, has a lot of detail.
As for Reincarnated as a Slime I don't, never read it.
@luukinhas90 kumo got the good details without being too much... it manages to keep a good balance and is well written. Even if I don’t like the mc and dropped it cus of personal dissapointment. Slime is more of a fresh take on the genre keeping the things people like without falling too mutch into tropes (it’s not as well written as kumo but the authors passion really makes that series shine). Another good wn that I would recomend is ”everyone else is a returnee” it takes place in modern times and I think that novel would be a good example of a hard working mc slowly becomming op. Basically one day mc realises everyone else is gone and a angel comes and informs him that somehow god missed him and everyone else was sceduled to be isekaied for 10 years in order to get acustomed to new powers they were given and once they return monsters will start to appear. Untill then earth will be in a stasis so during that time he won’t grow older, again due to misstake the stasis lasts for 1k years so while everyone else got isekai cheats he got martial arts and blacksmitting skills that he has trained with his own effort for 1000 years...
@IRrebel wow. Guy is a hell of a hardworking. That's nice. I might take my time in reading it
