A horrendous incident is happening in the Japanese capital, Tokyo. Some students disappeared without a trace mysteriously. The incident shocked all people, especially those in Tokyo themselves. This event was the first time in Japan because previously in several countries there were also periodic similar events. PINKY PROMISE
That day there was heavy rain and strong winds in Tokyo. The city atmosphere was still on standby and many police patrolled around the city. The situation is still quite tense where everyone is worried and feels afraid to leave the house. The Japanese government through television broadcasts has appealed to residents not to move outside, especially for those who live in Tokyo.
No exception to the Baker's family residence apartment. Although the city of Tokyo is on standby, Peterson Baker and Julie Baker decided to keep going to work and leave their two children in his apartment alone. The oldest child named Eric Baker while his younger sister was named Sofia Baker. They remain in the apartment because the school is currently closed and waiting for their parents to go home.
Sofia always asked her brother to be near her. She entered in a tense atmosphere and it was clear from the look on her anxious face. Almost every 10 minutes the sirens are heard from outside. Several times also had a power outage for 15 minutes. Such conditions make Sofia feel scared and feel depressed. Because one of the students in his school fell victim to this mysterious incident.
Occasionally, Eric gave a warm hug to calm Sofia who seemed to be traumatized. Eric's rough hand gave a soft swipe above Sofia's head. Not forgetting Eric gave a sincere smile to his sister to calm him down. Sofia became calmer because of that and finally was able to sleep well.
In the middle of the night that was getting late, Eric looked towards the clock in the main room. The clock shows at 8:00 p.m. but their parents don't come back. He also tried to ascertain the condition of his parents through a home phone but was never answered.
Eric decided to ask the condition of his parents through a message on his cellphone. Even though he had done it Eric did not feel calm and was still worried about his parents' condition. But he tried to keep waiting for a reply from his parents.
The clock shows 10:30 p.m. and there is no news from his parents. Eric is still trying to calm down, but he can't wait any longer. Not long after, amidst the anxiety Eric felt, his sister came and asked him.
"Where is father and mother now?" Sofia asked with a dull face still sleepy.
"Mother and father haven't come home yet, surely they will arrive soon." Eric replied while rubbing his sister's head.
Sofia just replied with a wry face and lay down on Eric's lap. Eric gently stroked Sofia's head and her long, smooth and soft hair. He felt sorry for Sofia because her parents were rarely at home, so Eric was the only person who could understand what Sofia was feeling right now.
For that he always tried to make Sofia feel happy even though without her parents, Eric could not bear to see Sofia sad and crying because she felt alone. He will do anything for Sofia to be able to smile again.
I don't want Sofia to feel what I've felt. I will never let him feel alone! Eric thought.
But there was a strange sound suddenly heard. Eric just smiled at the voice coming from Sofia. He covered his face with both hands because he felt embarrassed and went away from Eric.
"I'm fine brother." Said Sofia, covering her face.
"If you are hungry, tell me." Eric answered while trying to get close.
"No, it's not the sound of my stomach. I'm still full because of my lunch." Sofia replied.
"If you are hungry, let me look for food for you." Eric answered while trying to approach Sofia.
"I'm really not-"
Before finishing his speech the same sound was heard again and Sofia's face began to redden from it.
"Yea, I'll look at the kitchen first. You just wait here." Said Eric, smiling at Sofia.
Eric immediately got up and went to the kitchen. During the trip to the kitchen Eric passed the dark hallway because the electricity was still unstable. Even though he felt a little anxious about the atmosphere like this plus the whole city was also chaotic. Eric still tried to keep going while fighting his anxious feelings.
Eric opened the fridge and saw that the dining table had no food left. Because the food provided is only for lunch. For dinner, his parents should bring home the food they bought on the way home later.
Baker's family also rarely cooks because of the busyness Paterson and Julie Baker have; they rarely buy food ingredients to cook. They often buy food at the restaurant or go to family restaurants because it is easier to do.
After seeing the condition of the kitchen without any food at all. Eric was forced to go out to buy food at the Konbini which could easily be found in Tokyo.
Although the condition of the city is in chaos as it is now, there should still be some konbini that are still open. The distance is not too far from here, so it seems there is no problem if I go out for a moment Eric thought.
When Eric returned, Sofia was looking out of the window. Eric could feel the anxiety Sofia felt. For that he thought several times about his plan to get out. On the one hand, he knew Sofia did not want to be left alone and on the other hand as an older brother he wanted to help his hungry sister. Eric began to waver.
While at this time the police car was near the Baker's family apartment. Instead of feeling calm hearing the sirens' voices, Eric and Sofia were increasingly anxious and worried. They are quite depressed by the current situation.
Also, Sofia feels more impact. Indecision with Paterson Baker and Julie Baker made Sofia and Eric unable to calm down. Eric felt that he was now responsible for Sofia's condition, so he couldn't just do nothing.
"Sofia" Call Eric.
Sofia, who was shocked immediately turned around and closed the window curtain.
"The food in the kitchen is up. So maybe—"
"I'm Sorry, brother." Cut Sofia.
"Huh? Why are you sorry Sofia?" Eric asked, confused by Sofia's behavior.
"Ehh ... That ... hehe, how about it ..."
There must be something wrong here. Eric thought when he saw Sofia's behavior.
"I know what you want to talk about." Said Eric.
Sofia's face turned reddish immediately after listening to Eric's words. Then Sofia approached Eric and then responded with a warm hug by Eric.
I don't need to know the mistake. I just want to be able to understand his feelings. Eric murmured in his mind.
Although Eric didn't know why Sofia was sorry but Eric had forgiven him. For Eric, he couldn't hate Sofia because Eric's love for Sofia was bigger. That's how Eric loved his sister.
"I want to go out for a while to buy bread, you just have to wait at home." Said Eric.
"But there are many people who are missing out on brother again. So I don't want you to disappear out there !!" Sofia replied
"But mom and dad haven't come home yet. You don't know how long we have to wait for them."
"I don't want to be alone, brother." Sofia said while lowering her head.
Eric understood that feeling and knew what it was like to be left alone. Even so, he already has the responsibility to look after Sofia. Eric also doesn't want to bet by waiting for Paterson Baker and his wife to go home.
Sofia still wanted her sister to be with her until her parents returned home. But Eric persuaded Sofia and convinced him to let him go.
"Then you have an appointment with Sofia. You will go home later and you won't leave again." Sofia said while raising her little finger.
"I promise, you just have to be patient, wait for me at home" Eric replied while giving his promise to Sofia, a pinky promise that he should not forget.
Eric takes a jacket and is ready to go out. In front of him was Sofia who saw her with her innocent gaze. Eric responded with a smile and a wave of hands then went out.
