Chapter 263

After the incident in Africa, where almost half of the continent was wiped by the undead. Where the Dragon Fafnir tried to reach Godhood, that was the start where the Beastmen lost their trust in the royalties. The Draconians became humiliated after that incident, King Timar hid things about the tomb of Fafnir and caused great destruction. That's why Queen Saya was worried about her kids, she sent the loyal followers of the throne to protect her two kids.

However, Shenten was an odd one. He didn't have the usual attitude of a Beastmen. He was quiet, he didn't even use his voice for a year and whenever he said something, it was either a groan or cried because he was injured. So they decided to send another oddball(?) too, and Patriarch was the best person they could choose. He is strong, even if he lost his arms and eye, he is still a powerful Beastmen.

The enemies would hesitate to try to attack him at all. Patriarch is not easy to trifle with.

'But this oddball just forget his job and let the Prince go to a battle alone!'

Lander said in his mind as he facepalmed himself. He didn't know if he should be angry or sad. The Patriarch is really hard to understand.

"Hey, don't give me that look. I know what that means okay, you are ridiculing me! First of all, Prince Shenten is a strong Beastmen. He still didn't meet his Kampi but his Skill is already powerful, furthermore, he can materialize his spirit!"

"I know, that's the reason why we sent you here."

"Eh? I thought it's because I'm a stupid and oddball person?"

Patriarch was amused and realized that perhaps he was wrong. He scratched his head, partly embarrassed.

"Ah no, that's the other reason too."

"Fair enough."

Lander truthfully said. Patriarch is an oddball and can materialize his spirit. He is the best Elder they can ask to protect Shenten… Or is he?

"Your grandchild is safe with her Kampi and you let your clan do what they want. So I can say that you don't want to join the politics anymore, so I decided to make you a bodyguard instead."

"… I don't know if you are making fun of me or something."

"So you want to join politics?"

"No, it's too tiring."

He shook his head thrice just to make a statement.

"See, that's what I mean."

Lander and Patriarch used a flying monster to take them where Prince Shenten is.

While they were in the sky, Patriarch recalled something important. It was related to the missing Beastmen.

"Have you found him?"

Patriarch asked, his voice was heavy and his eyes deepened.

"You mean Ivan Smirnov? It's sad to say but no, that man is like a slippery eel. He just disappeared whenever we ambush him. And the Russian still doing their best to protect him. It's because they won a massive amount of Skills Books, it's a long story, do you wanna hear it?"

"We have time before we can reach the Prince's location." Patriarch looked at the ground.

"Russia received hundreds of thousands of Skill Books because they won the tournament. And because of that, their neighboring countries, especially China and Japan are becoming vigilant. They are trying their best to keep Russia on the bay, that's why Russia is doing its best to protect Ivan."

"Because Ivan is the strongest Hunter they have, he's known as a one-man army."

Lander nodded then continued. "We already know that Ivan killed hundreds of our brethren, but Russia is protective. They even raised the security of their borders and aerial territory."

Patriarch remained quiet, he knew that this possibility would happen because Russia won the grand prize. It's obvious that they would use those Skill Books to create an army of Hunters.

'This is going to be tough.'

Patriarch experienced wars, even on their original planet, conflicts were always present, either massive or small. On top of that, their population was always fighting the Demons. Patriarch could only say one thing, tragedy. Wars would only bring tragedy. He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

Some of his clan members were killed by Ivan Smirnov and he turned them into undead. It's unforgivable.

"Patriarch, what do you think? Is Earth the right home for us?"

The old cat shrugged, it was a stupid question and he couldn't believe that Lander would ask him that.

"Lander, we are Beastmen, we are the ones who create our home. If Earth is not good for us, then we will make it good. Besides, you know that the ancient Threshold randomly opened a Portal to another world. This may be fate or not, some higher being might be the culprit or not, but Earth is our home now."

Ancient Threshold was the Item they used to travel to Earth. It crumbled after they used it.

"… I guess we just have to find the right side."

"But one thing is for sure, all of the Beastmen is raring to kill Ivan Smirnov for what he did. Killing our brethren and used them as tools, no one will forgive him. If Russia dropped their protection, at that moment, he knew he fucked up."

The old cat said with distinction although he suddenly laughed without a reason and even Lander tilted his head in confusion.

"Pttf-haha, did you get it, Lander! Phew, I can't believe that I used that sentence."

"What do you mean?"

"The last sentence that I said, it's a meme!"

Patriarch continued laughing as he touched his stomach. As for Lander, he only shook his head as he didn't know what he meant.

"What's so special about At that moment, he knew he fucked up? Is my sense of humor not high enough to understand it?"

He scratched his head. Lander didn't use any digital device so he didn't know any memes. To be honest, he is fortunate not to learn them. Some memes are toxic and might make a person crazy, such as the never-ending meme of Rickroll. Although Never Gonna Given You Up is a masterpiece, and it reached 1 billion views on Youtube.

[Hey, I just want to say that we're no strangers to love.]

[You know the rules, and so do I.]
