Please, someone, kill me now. I wanted to bang my head against something. At least it would be less painful than listening to this crap.

"This is so boring." Nee, who was lying on my head, groaned out.

"Shh," I whispered. "They might forget we're still here."

The 'they' I was referring to wasn't just Mr. Gargoyle, but Det. Towers. Who showed just as I was shoved into an interrogation room.

"I told you she's a danger. How many people does she need to kill, for you do something about it." The Gargoyle kept yapping on.

Detective Towers was fuming. "Graycliff, if you only did your job instead of just pinning on someone convenient…."

"Convenient," Graycliff laughed. "I read your file on this woman. And don't know why she's roaming free."

"If you read my file then…."

"I get why she has a no-kill order, but why not give her to someone who could handle her," Detective Graycliff prompted. "I've been talking to the Coven, and they…."

My eyes darkened. I didn't like where the conversation was going. I would do more than blow up their secret lab if that will ever happen. Their entire headquarters would go up in smoke.

Besides, they had a deal.

Det. Towers were silent, then... "How much did they give you.?"

"This isn't about money." Det Graycliff brushed it aside. "It's about the public's safety. Plus, if not them, the Vamps or the Shifters would do just as well.

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that." Towers scoffed. "Greedy bastard."

A loud snore broke through. Suddenly both Detectives turned abruptly at the interruption.

It felt like I was caught in the spotlight, and I had nowhere to run. I couldn't help but swallow. "I didn't kill Vally. We're friends."

Graycliff scoffed. "Like I'm going to believe that."

"Oh, how about this." I supplied. "Vally worked for Mistress Isobel. Who's crazy enough to go against her?"

"You don't seem sane to me." Graycliff looked me up and down.

I narrowed my eyes. This guy I don't like.

"So, were you between 8 and midnight two days ago." Towers asked, and I gave him a look. "You know I have to ask, Kera?"

"I was at home. Been home since I left here."

 "Alone?"

"No, Renee was there," I provided.

"And she isn't willing to come to the statson." Towers weren't asking a question. He very well knew the answer. "Or supply an address."

"Near Old Timblay St?" I hedged.

"Great, you don't even know where you live," Graycliff sneered. "And you're not going to supply your roommate's last name."

I just shrugged. "Renee likes her privacy," I pointed at my head. "But you could call or just ask Nee."

"The pixie!" Graycliff exclaimed.

Nee snorted in her sleep. "Not a Pixie." Before flopping over.

Towers explained. "Fairies' Scout, and she not sentient." I narrowed my eyes. "No offence, not as if I agree." With his hands held high. "Plus, Renee doesn't count unless she is coming to the statson herself."

I huffed and leaned back. "then why ask if you already knew the answer?"

"Kera, your tone." Towers sighed. "Just a minute." His big garth squeezed through the doorway.

As soon as the door closed, Graycliff rounded on me. "You little bitch, if you think you can bat your pretty eyes and think to get away with everything. You've got another thing coming."

I was confused for a minute. What was Graycliff talking about? Until Nee whispered, no longer asleep. "He thinks Towers's your sugar daddy." She snorted. "You!"

"Are you suggesting…?" I couldn't help but laugh. "He doesn't know his wife? Does he?"

"Seems so. What do you think, Det Towers.?" Nee stated.

There stood Det. Towers looming over Det Graycliff's hot air was streaming between his tusk. "Say that to my face next time and see how far you'll go."

"Towers, I'm just saying what everyone else…."

Suddenly Towers clasped his big hand against the younger man's shoulder and squeezed. "Don't speak disrespectfully. If you continue like this, you will get a beating."

Graycliff gritted his teeth. "Ha, from you? And get in trouble with the Captain. You're not that stupid."

"No, my wife would."

"Allowing your wife to fight your battles."

"Oh, no, not me. Livia would  go through the Gate and back for that little girl over there." Nodding toward me. "And yeah, you should be afraid. There's nothing more fierce than my wife in protective mode."

"Hmph."

"Um, what's that?" Nee piped up. Looking at what Towers was holding. "Why do you have a sword."

"A sword?" I was curious and looked closer. Yes, he differently had a sword, but it looked like a dagger in his massive fist. "Is that the murder weapon?"

"No, but it's close enough." Then he held the sword out to me. "Here."

"You're going to hand her a weapon. Are you mad?" Graycliff barked out.

Towers stared Graycliff down. "Just sit tight, and watch." Turning back to me. "Take it. Trust me, okay," he implored.

I reached out in distaste. Whether it was swords, guns, or any weapon. I never liked to go near the darn things. If one had to defend themselves, Magic was so much better. A

"All this better be worth it," I mumbled. But as soon as my hands wrapped around the hilt. "Wait, I don't think…." Suddenly Towers let go and… A big thud followed.

"Ha, ha, ha, you can't even hold a sword," Nee laughed, holding her stomach. "I can't… I can't."

I gritted my teeth and tried picking the sword up again, but it was useless. Finally tired, I looked up at Nee and glared. "I don't see you do any better."

"Hey, I'm 5 inches tall. So what's your excuse." Nee had her arms crossed with a huff.

"Nee, you know I more of an indoors person…." Then shaking my head. "Neverend, what's the point in all this?"

"I was wondering the same thing." Graycliff stated.

"Kera can't even lift it. So how can she use it to kill Vally?"

"She could have easily used Magic." Graycliff argued.

"No, impossible." Nee snickered a little. "The control is beyond her."

I wanted to argue but finally admitted. "True." But something was bothering me. "A sword killed her?"

"Yes, or something similar."

"They must have been very skilled to take down Vally. She's skilled. Especially with a sword," I stated thoughtfully.

"Like any other Fae, living here." Graycliff brushed it off. "You see more weapons like that in the Edge than the guns, any day of the week."

"But…"

Suddenly Graycliff's phone buzzed, "Just a minute." As he gave his phone a glance, he went pale. Then, finally, he coughed and looked up. "Great, I'm late. So thanks for wasting my time? Det. Towers, I let you handle the rest." Then he was gone.

"You're the one who dragged me in here," I mumbled.

"That's a guy's a creep." Nee was making funny faces at the closed door. Then she whispered in my ear. "But oh ho ho, look at Det. Towers, he must have a hand in Graycliff's quick exit."

I looked over at Towers and saw nothing amiss, but I trusted Nee's intuition. She was just better with people than I am. So he must have done something when he stepped out of the room.

"Now that's he gone, there's something that I want to ask. Kera… are you going to tell me you're your reason for being here?" Towers asked.

"Um, what are you talking about. You're the one saying I needed to come in and make a statement." I acted confused. "About what Vally said when she called me?"

Towers seemed he wasn't buying it. "If it was just that, you'd have dragged your feet a little more."

"Of course, I don't."

 "Kera…"

 "I'm telling the truth!"

Towers sighed. "Okay, I'll humour you; tell me about your conversation with Vally."

Then I proceeded to tell him everything. Recalling the last time hearing Vally's voice made me more emotional than I expected,  and I felt something wet running down my cheeks.

"Are those real tears?" Nee got real close, and I had to jerk back in startlement.

 "Ha, watch it!"

"Don't be a baby." But Nee's tone was softer, and she wiped my tears gently, comforting me in her own angry terrier way.

"I'm sorry for your loss." Towers replied. "I didn't know how deeply…."

"It's fine, it's fine." it wasn't really. I didn't like losing control like this, either. Not at a place where I don't feel safe. However, I came here with a purpose. "So did Vally have something to do with Car. A name maybe or a street name?"

"Car? Hmmm." Towers looked at her with his eyes narrowed. "Are you trying to investigate Vally's death on your own? Kera, no, I thought you learned your lesson from before."

"I did, I quit that job, but…." I looked up at Nee, biting my lip.

"You should tell him." Nee encouraged.

"Um, have you heard from Mistress Isobel at all?" I asked, curious if Mistress Isobel said anything or not.

"As soon as Mistress Isobel was infirmed. She locked down all her businesses and broke all contact." Towers answered, giving me a suspicious look. "Do you know why?"

I sighed. "All I know is that last night she gave me a visit last night and gave me this." I showed him the claw marks that Isobel left behind.

His eyes widened. "Mistress Isobel tagged you?" Of course, he knew what the mark meant. Everyone knew what it meant. "Hellfire, how long do we have?"

"I really don't know." Someone tagged by a higher being meant things were going to get serious. If the person tagged doesn't fulfil the promise. Then the higher being would take over and wreak havoc until they get what they want.

Also, I probably wish for death after she gets through with me. I shuddered. "But if I don't find Vally's killers and bring them to her, then this whole city would feel Mistress Isobel's wrath. That's why I'm here because I need all the help I could get."

I've discovered that in the last chapter, I named the Troll Detective Stonewall instead of Towers. I'll fix it soon.
