??? POV

'It wasn't my fault. It wasn't.'

'. . .That's right, it wasn't your fault. So rest.'

'It's not. . .'

'Hush now. Rest.'

'This is confusing as hell. How am I here again?'

After their fight, she got her face treated, the result? A face filled with bandage and gauzes.

sigh*

'What a sight.'

The wounds on her right face are more serious than on her left.

'I wonder. . .'

From that day on, things have been awkward with her mother.

Moreover, that said 'mother' has been acting strangely after that. She rarely comes out of her room, not to mention that weird rusty scent that's emanating from her.

It's just creepy.

'Please don't tell me it's drugs.'

This girl kept sneaking glances at her mother. She must be worried.

'I guess it can't be helped. Even if she's a sh*t mother who abuses her daughter. She's still our mother.'

Her mother hasn't gone out of her room for a few days, her room is starting to smell disgusting. However, the girl was worried that her mother would throw into a fit if she was disturbed so━

'So this is her plan?'

Today, this girl seems to have gotten back to school. She is walking through an unfamiliar road though.

Just when I thought she might do something crazy, turns out this girl went out to buy some cake and flowers using her pocket money.

'For her mother, huh? Man, if only her mother wasn't abusing her. I would've been moved to tears.'

"I wonder if she would like it?"

The girl asked herself while walking home.

'Duh, of course, she will. If she's a normal person with a bit of humanity left in her, that is.'

ka-chak*

"Mother, I'm home."

There was no response. Not even a sound.

'As expected, she seems to be in a bad mood today as well.'

The girl quietly approached her mother's room and knocked lightly. The disgusting smell grew worse up close.

'Ugh, what smell. God. The hell has she been doing inside?'

The lack of response made the girl worry.

'Usually, she'd shout and throw a fit.'

Once again, this girl's thoughts resonated in my head.

'I'm afraid that I have to agree with this girl's thoughts.'

The girl quietly leaned her head against the door in an attempt to hear something.

creak*

All she could hear was a creak.

"Mother?"

The girl knocked once more, this time with more force.

Again, no response.

At this point, the girl was really worried.

"Mother? I'm coming in."

She opened the door slowly, the room was very dark, and the strong scent enveloped the whole room.

It made her head throb in pain.

'This, no way.'

creak*

That eerie sound was coming from the ceiling, not from the floor. It took a while before it clicked.

'DON'T LOOK!!'

The door was wide open, and there it was━

Her mother's rotting body, hanging from the ceiling.

The girl's eyes widened, not moving an inch. Her entire body froze. The cake and flowers from her hands fell on the floor.

In that instant━

"Mo-mother?"

The girl stuttered with her words.

'Ugh! Hurry and get out!'

The sight was too much. The maggots and flies surrounding her gruesome body. The smell was making the girl nauseous.

The girl fell down on the floor and broke down.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHH!!!! AAAAHHHH!! AHH! AHHH!!"

Her screaming voice pierced my ears.

'It's no use. She's unstable now. Damn it!'

Her scream was soon followed by a sudden urge to vomit.

"Ueeghhh! Oghhh!!"

cough* cough* pant* pant*

The girl felt dizzy, she was about to pass out.

'Oi! Don't faint now! You've got to get out and call for some help! Oi!'

My words were of no help. She couldn't hear me after all.

'My words couldn't reach her either.'

'From that point on, she stopped listening to us.'

'She kept blaming herself for it.'

'. . .'

'We did all we could. We did.'
