And as I mentioned earlier, our family is one of the families that manage the territory of this 5 square km land. There is one more family that manages this territory too, and this family is equally low-ranking noble like my family.

Eh?

Seriously there are two Lords in one territory?

Yes.

What benefits do I get if I lie?

At first, I also felt “Huh? Seriously?" why in a land that is already so incredibly small like this territory, there must be two family heads ruling it?

Compared to other families that own one plot of land, there is only one Lord who reigns, as told in the dusty royal government books on the mansion's bookshelves belong to my family.

In perspective, mmm… what's it called? Politic? We are a special case in the Aglev  Kingdom. I mean we, the two low-ranking nobles are the only nobles crammed into the same territory.

Initially, our family was commoners as well and none of us have a drop of noble blood even though we dig our family tree up to the first human, Adam, if I may exaggerate.

We are pure commoners.

Ordinary people.

In the past. My family took part in several war expeditions as well as monster subjugation and got a decent achievement there. We were given titles, but we weren't immediately given the land said my father in this world, because, yeah, at that time the achievement that my family got has a problem that confuses the kingdom when it comes to giving rewards to us.

The thing is, that my family's achievement, is not too big, but it doesn't deserve to be called too small either.

the kingdom was in a dilemma because of it.

If they do not reward their subjects who have gained an achievement, the reputation of the kingdom can be questioned and will be branded incompetent in the eyes of the public.

Then if they are given a reward carelessly, they will also be labeled incompetent.

And then there is another family who has the same situation and has obtained almost the same achievement as my family's.

So that's why there are two families that take care of this territory. That is the ideal reward given to us. One territory with two families reigns at once.

You may think why the kingdom has to give all the land to people who get the achievement? The kingdom can incur losses, right? Why not give rewards in the form of money?

Well, what I understand is the thing behind the system.

For example, if my family is only given a reward in the form of money, the kingdom will not get any return from that because the money is almost just running in the same place because it is only spent by my family.

But if we are given the land by the kingdom to be managed, an area that originally only gave the Kingdom a small income or even nothing, if someone manages it wisely, the Kingdom will get additional income such as goods or services, etc that we have in our territory.

The economy will be running there, not to mention taxes. Also not to mention, for example, unemployed people who mostly become criminals because they don't have a job, and income will be absorbed before they become criminals.

The profit the kingdom would get would be more than if they only rewarded us in form of money.

Well, although there are still big risks if those who are given the territory are not good at managing it. It will burden the kingdom with the problems it causes instead. That's why there are two families managing this land, to provide peace insurance on the kingdom side in my opinion.

Well, I don't really understand economics (including politics), but more or less that I think might be the answer to that question for a while.

However, still… Two Lords!

You must have shouted many times in your mind, is there no problem with two people at the same time holding the wheel?

However, hey. Try to see the positive side first.

In this cruel world, cooperation is needed to survive. We, the two low-ranking nobles, cannot survive in the luxurious realm of the kingdom if we don't join hands and don't form factions, groups, allies, or stuff like that.

Intermediate-level nobles, and the most influential ones, have alliances or factions, and each of them maintains the integrity of their respective household so that they are not easily fell down to the commoner level.

Even our kingdom. The Aglev Kingdom is said to have joined in an alliance of other kingdoms like most kingdoms did, to survive from the Empire's hegemony.

In fact, even though the kingdom alliance's entire territory was merged and then compared with the Empire territory, the comparison might be like ASEAN vs UN.

Too domineering!

"Bolsward, please."

I asked one of the people who once worked with my father when he was still young and in his prime, to drew the map again, just for you.

He had seen the map of the continent when he, my father, and the others were invited to the palace before their big mission, which in the future got them a great achievement and great reward. His memory is still strong and he is currently drawing that map on the ground now.

"Done."

"Thank you."

"..."

"..."

The situation in the picture he drew never ceases to amaze me.

Is quite pathetic actually.

On the map, you can see a lot of countries, along with the Aglev Kingdom, all gathered and cowering together in corners of the continent from the empire.

The point is, they are HUGE!

Yes, the breast-

I mean the empire territory.

"..."

Ehem.

Sorry.

There was Mrs. Jenny suddenly passing by.

She is a widow. A sexy widow. A big-breasted sexy widow.

.....

........

.............

Sengaja dia ... (She did it on purpose ...)
