Is this son of a bitch looking down on me?

I puffed and panted, as I leaned back on the tree. By the looks of it, if I try to raise or aim my plasma pistol, he’d immediately pounce on me again. He is a smart one, I haven’t been able to get knocked down like this ever since I left in the academy.

Both of us looked at each other with vigilance, I needed to make my next move, but with the current my current condition, I’m unable to strike back without having a possibility of death.

I was cornered by my enemy and my defeat was nearing, I tried touching my chest that he had mauled earlier. But I felt something strange, it was instantly healed without me knowing nor even feeling.

Ha! I remember now! My Nanomachine!

no wonder it didn’t move any further from his current position, because it knew that I was already healed in a short amount of time.

I stood up from my weakened but recovering state and for a fair fight threw away my plasma pistol to the ground. The Wolf seeing my current condition, became more cautious. My plasma pistol hit the ground and stayed there, I didn’t plan on picking it up again for the duration of our fight.

I started my running posture at the front of the tree.

“Micron! Enhance Physical strength, muscle strength and endurance!”

I yelled, which surprised the large wolf, that was already cautious in front of me.

“Roger.”

A sudden voice responded.

With that, I immediately rushed at the wolf, the wolf surprised at my attack, tried evading, but I had already caught him.

Thanks to my improved muscle strength and endurance throughout my entire body. I felt more stronger than my average condition.

To take him down and knock him down unconscious, I had to wrestle him to the ground and start a headlock.

I extended my both my arms at the shocked wolf to try and headlock him, and with my current speed push him down to the hard and rocky ground. Ultimately, shocking him and almost making him unconscious.

I continued my assault and with my enhanced muscle strength kept punching him in its face. Eventually making him start to bleed from its nose and mouth, he soon started howling and whining on the ground, while I was still on top of him continuing my barrage of punches. Our fight lasted for a few more minutes until he finally went out cold.

I spat on the ground, my hands trembling and covered in blood. He was out cold, but I could see his legs and paws still twitching. It made me regret a little about my attack earlier.

“It was your fault for challenging me.”

I coldly replied at his unconscious body, it didn’t even count as a apology, rather a warning if he ever tries to attack me again. And before I could notice it was already in the afternoon in the forest, and I was unable to notice it, being current busy with a fight, I also must’ve overslept.

“Haaa…”

I sighed and sat down on the ground, exhausted.

“Nanomachine, Disable current condition.”

“Roger.”

Nanomachines are compulsory and standard issue gadgets that were given to all military personnel of both the marines and Navy. But high-ranking officers attaining the ranks of commodores to admirals, like me, were given exclusive nanomachines that were more advance and improved than the standard ones.

It would be first given once you enter a military academy or your respectable military branch’s training facilities. And starting from there, you hone, train, and cultivate your issued nanomachine.

Its Functions are some kind of multisystem artificial intelligence system inside the body, it’s functions and mechanisms are, medical checkup, internal monitoring of the body, body restoration function, complete access to the five senses, etc.

To think that, I had forgotten about the nanomachines that were given to us. Because I was mostly unscathed or uninjured in multiple battles that I would forget about it.

I felt my entire body significantly hurt from our fight and the nanomachine’s drawbacks, I thought for a second, was that too much on the wolf. But I was worried about the wolf’s condition, but I hadn’t regretted anything, both of us fought for self-defense, its kill or be killed in this type of situation.

I stood back up from the ground, and pick up my plasma pistol. I thought to myself when I picked up the pistol, should I just mercy kill the wolf.

“It’s better than to just suffer…”

I aimed my plasma pistol at the unconscious wolf, when it suddenly awoke from its unconsciousness. He saw me aiming my gun directly at his severely bleeding face.

“Why are you awake? Go back to sleep.”

I demanded with a blank face. If I had remembered correctly wolves were a branch family of dogs, meaning it has the same attributes as dogs, I have to hide any emotion if he were to be able to analyze my facial features.

We stared at each other blankly, its as if a whole hour passed on just us looking at each other. I finally had enough of it had place my index finger at the trigger until he suddenly whined back at me.

His loud whine was as loud as a human begging for mercy, but to me it seemed as he was using a psychological tactic, maybe to make me give him mercy.

He looked at me with puppy like eyes and kept whining, it was getting irritating and I was wasting valuable time. Frustrated inside, but I kept my composure outside, I decided to give him mercy.

“Oi, if you dare attack me again, I won’t show you mercy again.”

I responded to his whines with a blank stare and a frightening warning.

Hearing me finish, he stopped his whining. To which I responded with aiming my pistol upwards, stating, that I won’t finish him anymore.

I decided to place my plasma pistol back at the pouch at my waist. But I kept my mind and body’s attention on the wolf, I could never know if he would do a suicide jump.

Inside in the middle of the dense forest, I picked up my bag and looked back at him, still on the ground, noticing me, he stared back at me.

Then we went our separate ways. I left him severely injured on the grassy ground of the forest, while I made my way out of our fighting site. I didn’t care if he would survive or not, I gave him mercy, that I barely gave to anybody.

It should be thankful.

I kept travelling inside the dense forest, and the following day I wasn’t able to discover any other lifeforms other than the wolf that I fought.
