You are minding your own business, when you are suddenly struck with searing pain in your core. The pain is so intense, you almost immediately black out.
When you come to, you find yourself floating in front of an enormous pale woman with the lower half of a snake. More concernedly, as you look around, you find that you don't have hands or feet, and can't move.
The enormous lady (though, judging by the surroundings, you might just be tiny right now) smiles and gently picks up your incorporeal form.
| Admin_S: "Greetings little one. You may call me Administrator S, queen of all which crawls. Unfortunately, you've been reduced to just a disembodied soul." |
She scowls.
| Admin_S: "Some foolish mortals from a nearby reality tried to use dimensional magic and a very powerful sword to slay a god. Instead they just ended up killing a lot of innocent mortals. Their target was actually one of my colleagues, the goddess Administrator D. She managed to deal with most of the souls affected, but as usual, her work was sloppy and she failed to deal with the wider collateral." |
She smiles apologetically.
|
Admin_S: "While the main explosion was localized to one location, the unstable magic involved caused many errant sparks of potent slaying energy to spray across the planet. While most dissipated harmlessly in the ocean or empty fields, you had the grave misfortune to be hit by one directly. If I hadn't spotted you, your soul might have unraveled entirely." Admin_S: "Anyway, now you have a choice. D chose to just reincarnate all the other souls onto her little pet planet, a cruel place that is basically a hardcore game with permanent PvP." |
She looks at you thoughtfully.
| Admin_S: "Normally I wouldn't want to subject an innocent soul to her nonsense, but it might be fun to send a champion of my own to mess with her stuff. That world is mostly a strict no-interaction world, but transmigrators are a notable loophole. What do you say?" |
TLDR: Admin S wants to isekai you to a hellish world to mess with her boss Admin D.
"What are my options?"
| Admin_S: "I could Return you to Earth and give you a new custom body but without any special powers. Or I could make you my Champion and send you to that death world with some extra powers from my Blessings. Or if you're feeling especially masochistic I could send you on without any special boons and you'd basically have to take some Drawbacks to get some Blessings, otherwise you'd basically be an even more unfortunate Reincarnator since you wouldn't have any Cheat Skills to your name. Or... if we're quick enough, we may able to empower the shit out of you and send you on your way before Administrator D finds out and fucks you over." |
"I like that last option. Let's do that."
|
Admin_S: "Quick! D isn't looking. Here's a whole bunch of extra blessings!" *Administrator D has entered the chat* Admin_D: "It's adorable you thought you could get one over me." Admin_D: "For taking the easy road, I'm going to disable your ability to gain skill points. You can still gain skills through other means, but you better think carefully about what you spend your blessings on." |
"FUCK!" Taking a deep breath and letting out a deep sigh, I try to cycle back to the Champion mode.
| Admin_D: "I don't think so, little cheater. You had your chance, now you get to live with the consequences of your actions." |
"God-fucking-damnit. Okay, let's see what my options are."
|
Admin_S: "I'm sorry about Administrator D being a vindictive bitch, but let's try to make the most of it, shall we? Let's start by going over the possible 'Species' you can reincarnate into." Admin_S: "There are a few different choices of species to reincarnate as. They can be split into two categories. Humanoids and Monsters. Humanoids can level up and gain skills, but they can't evolve. However, growing up as a humanoid is safer, and its easier to gain allies. Monsters can evolve once reaching certain levels, allowing them to become far more powerful, but you'll start weak and have to kill to survive. Choose 1." |
After reviewing each of the species options, I select "Serpent" because it sounds interesting.
|
Serpent |
"Well that sounds useful. What's next?"
|
Admin_S: "Before we get into that, there's a few things you should keep in mind going forward." Admin_S: "A word of warning. Many skills and titles grant levels in Taboo. Taboo is a skill designed to prey on the karmic guilt of the native inhabitants. Technically, you shouldn't be subject to it, but D really thoroughly hard-coded it into the system. If you gain 10 levels in Taboo, you will be forcibly granted access to the System Overview Menu. It'll teach you a bunch of stuff I could've told you, but more importantly, it will cause your dreams to be filled with guilt and torment, and make you much more inclined to play along with D's little game. I recommend keeping your Taboo at Level 5 or less to be safe." Admin_S: "I've marked some choices with (exclusive). These options can only be acquired as part of my blessing (Unless you get really lucky with Greed). Most other options can be obtained in the world if you do the right stuff." Admin_S: "Some skills render others redundant. This mostly applies to direct upgrades, but sometimes it isn't. Redundant skills are removed, and cannot be relearned. You're stuck with the new skill." |
"Okay, good to know." Even if I already knew about Taboo and redundancy and stuff.
|
Admin_S: "Now it's time to discuss Titles." Admin_S: "Normally Titles require fairly arduous tasks to unlock, but it should be fairly simple to just unlock these automatically for you. Each title gives a minor boon, but they also give you free skills, so you should pick these before buying your skills." |
I then scroll through the available Titles that I can pick up before making my selections.
|
Admin_S: "Foul Feeder. This title which grants immunity to food poisoning. Raw or rotten food no longer hinders your stomach. However, actual poison can still harm you. Sadly, it does not improve the taste. Raw monster will still taste abhorrent. Grants Poison Resistance and Rot Resistance." Admin_S: "Kin Eater. Thankfully you won't actually have to do this, but anyone with appraisal will judge you harshly. Is free Heretic Magic worth the Taboo? Grants a small boost to your willingness to resort to cannibalism. Grants Heretic Magic." Admin_S: "Ally Killer. Again you won't actually have to do this, but anyone with appraisal will judge you even more harshly. Is free Heretic Attack worth the Taboo? Grants a small boost to your willingness to betray your allies. Grants Heretic Attack." Admin_S: "Champion. Designates that an Administrator has deemed you worthy of interest. Gives a 25% boost to the Leadership and Intimidation skills, if you have them. Grants Destruction Enhancement and Status Condition Resistance." |
Thankfully, "Foul Feeder" is free for "Serpent" Monsters which is nice because "Rot Resistance" is goated. Thankfully I don't actually have to work for it. The early Poison Resistance is also nice since most monsters in the Upper Layer of the Labyrinth tend to use Poison.
"Kin Eater" giving me a point of Taboo is troublesome, but early "Heretic Magic" is also useful since it's one of the hardest skills to gain and grind. Not to mention hopefully grinding "Heresy Resistance" early to deal with any Ruler Skills/Titles I might pick up later.
"Ally Killer" gives me another level in Taboo which is still a problem, but it also gives me "Heretic Attack" which is still useful for much the same reason that "Heretic Magic" is.
Finally, "Champion" is also nice for that 25% boost to "Leadership" and "Intimidation" if I ever get those Skills, but the "Destruction Enhancement" and "Status Condition Resistance" are also nice. Also the fact that it's marked as Exclusive means it's inherently valuable.
|
Admin_S: "Well okay then, next we've got the fun stuff. The Ruler Titles." Admin_S: "These 14 titles are the most important in the system, and each provides great power. I can provide you with one, but it would draw unwanted attention if you started with more. You can theoretically acquire more, but each is unique, and can only be possessed by one individual at a time. Each provides a powerful cheat skill, as well as minor administrator privileges, mainly the ability to nullify appraisal attempts, although these privileges require level 10 Taboo to unlock. They also have some mental warping effects, so be careful." |
So I can only take one to start? And I obviously can't take the one's that are in use such as "Ruler of Gluttony", "Ruler of Temperance", or "Ruler of Diligence". I think I'll take "Ruler of Pride" since I remember that one being pretty damn good.
|
Admin_S: "Ruler of Pride. This powerful skill grants a whopping 300% boost to all EXP- huh? Reserved? What the hell does that mean? Give me a sec." Admin_S: "..." Admin_S: "Huh. Apparently D has taken a liking to one of her transmigrators and intends to make them her champion. I'll look more into this, but for now, I guess you can't take this." Admin_S: "Grants maxed out Abyss Magic (But not the previous derivations), makes Desire redundant." |
Damn, D set aside "Pride" for Kumoko already?! Okay then, what else? Ooh, that's already here? I pick "Ruler of Wisdom"!
| Admin_S: "Ruler of Wisdom. What the hell is this? That's not one of the original ruler skills. "Enables acquisition of browsing level-1 information regarding anything in the user's range of perception." Is... is this just universal appraisal? That seems a bit much."
Admin_S: "And why the hell does it grant maxed out magic skills? This is like five different powerful stats all maxed out at once. What does D even plan on using this for?" Admin_S: "Well, either way, it doesn't seem I can give you this." Admin_S: "I'm starting to get really annoyed here. Locking out 'Ruler of Pride', making 'Ruler of Wisdom' and locking that out too..." |
A moment later, a new option pops up. "Ruler of Instinct"? What's that?
|
Admin_S: "Ruler of Instinct. Well, if D wants to play favorites, then two can play at that game. This powerful skill makes you slowly gain proficiency in any skill you haven't used for at least 24 hours. It even works on "level 0" skills you can earn without skill points. This even includes things like magic skills which you could theoretically train with the right tools." Admin_S: "The title itself gives a 50% growth boost to HP, SP, and MP and Miscellaneous skills. It shifts your mindset to devoting yourself to gain as many skills as possible, even if they aren't very useful." Admin_S: "Grants Retroactive and Prism Attack." |
I have no idea what either of those are supposed to be but I'm all for passive Skill Proficiency gain since it should help counter D's curse to an extent. Let's see... "Protagonist"? That seems like a dangerous option, but fortune (and D) favors the bold. I think I'll take that and... "Ruler of Perseverance".
|
Admin_S: "Protagonist. By taking this title, you will be able to choose a second Ruler Title as a blessing. This comes at a cost however. Not only is it very Taboo, but by taking this title, your divinity field will be especially strong, something which the Administrators will take note of." Admin_S: "You become a known dangerous element. You'll need to be careful not to do anything to earn Gülie's ire. I'll stick up for you, but if you become an active threat to humanity or the dragons, I won't be able to stop him." Admin_S: "Thankfully(?) D is more inclined to watch you because she finds it interesting, not because she thinks you're a threat." Admin_S: "Ruler of Perseverance. This powerful skill makes it so that once you reach 1 HP, you begin losing MP instead of HP, at a 1/1 ratio. It also allows you to unlock Evil Eye skills using skill points." Admin_S: "The title itself gives a 50% growth boost to Defense, Resistance, and Resistance skills. It is one of the more mild mental shifts, causing a greatly enhanced survival instinct, prioritizing your own safety above anyone else." Admin_S: "Grants maxed out Heresy Resistance, makes Tenacity redundant." |
Well now I feel kind of ridiculous for going heavy into a Heresy build since I just gained "Heresy Nullification" through the effect of "Ruler of Perseverance", but I'm not complaining. Hell, even if I hit Taboo Lvl.10, it won't be as much of a problem now. Also fuck you, D, you rob me of "Pride" and "Wisdom", I rob Kumoko of "Perseverance". See how she likes not having her MP as an extra HP bar now or spamming her Evil Eyes.
Though gaining three levels of Taboo from the effect of the Exclusive "Protagonist" Title was slightly worrying. Not to mention being on Gülie's radar, but I'll manage somehow.
|
Admin_S: "With the regular and Ruler Title's out of the way, now we get to cover the Skills sections. These are the bread and butter of the system. While most of these skills can be acquired naturally, I'll throw in a 25% proficiency growth bonus to any skills you get as part of your blessing. Many skills can evolve upon reaching level 10." Admin_S: "First we're going to cover the required n%I=W Skill. Hmm. The implementation is a bit slapdash for D's standards. Well, it seems safe enough. This skill acts to tie your soul into the system. Without it, you would be a completely powerless mortal in this world. It also automatically translates system messages and menus into your native language, though it does nothing to help you understand other people. As a final bonus, it grants a powerful healing effect on level up, generally enough for a full heal." Admin_S: "Next is something you may consider worth pursuing. Divinity Expansion. I can't give this to you directly, but you will probably have it regardless. Unlike other skills, this one doesn't actually concern your stats and abilities. Instead, its level acts to monitor the strength of your soul. Gaining a ruler skill is enough to boost it to level 1, but that's the only way to directly gain soul power within the system. If you somehow find a way to raise this to level 10, you'll become a god." Admin_S: "After that we come to the first selectable sets of Skills, the Stat & Ability Skills. These skills directly modify your stats and abilities, either by boosting the raw numbers, or by restoring their values." |
Okay, now we're in the game for real. Also I'm a fucking genius apparently. If getting any Ruler Skill is enough to give me Divinity Expansion Lvl.1, then "Ruler of Instinct" basically guarantees my ascension to Godhood. Now about these regular Skills.
|
Admin_S: "Retroactive. I hate games where you are punished for not leveling up in an optimal manner. This skill makes it so skills which grant growth correction are treated as if you had them since level 1, retroactively granting their level-up bonuses. This even accounts for levels from previous evolutions." Admin_S: "Demon Lord. This powerful skill boosts all Ability Scores by a flat number equal to the skill level*100. It can be slowly raised by acting in a manner befitting a demon lord. Not to be confused with the Demon Lord title." Admin_S: "If you are a Wyrm, possession of this skill allows you to evolve into a dark wyrm, gaining the Dark variant of the Elemental Wyrm skill, while fully retaining your previous element." Admin_S: "Hero. This powerful skill boosts all Ability Scores by a flat number equal to the skill level*100. It can be slowly raised by acting in a manner befitting a hero. Not to be confused with the Hero title." Admin_S: "If you are a Wyrm, possession of this skill allows you to evolve into a light wyrm, gaining the Light variant of the Elemental Wyrm skill, while fully retaining your previous element." |
Most of the Stat & Ability Skills can be gained through regular training and effort which should be boosted by "Ruler of Instinct", so wasting Blessings on them is pointless. But since I can't earn any Skill Points beyond whatever I presumably have from the start, then purchasing the "Demon Lord" and "Hero" Skills with Blessings now is useful for grinding early Ability Scores.
Also, "Retroactive" was free thanks to "Ruler of Instinct" and is immensely useful for getting the absolute most out of Stat Boosts without having to basically buy/grind Skills before Leveling Up like what Kumoko made Sophia go through.
| Admin_S: "Next, we come to the Attack Skills. These skills allow you to infuse your attacks, making them deal added damage or effects. They can be channeled though physical weapons like swords, or through natural weapons like fangs and claws." |
Again, most of these can be gotten through regular effort, so there's no real point to wasting Blessings on them when I can gain them naturally. I think I'll just stick with whichever ones happen to come free from previous selections.
|
Admin_S: "Heretic Attack. This nasty skill adds the "Rend Soul" effect to attacks at the cost of SP, dealing permanent damage that not even Curse Replenishment can heal. Particularly useful for fighting entities beyond the system, like gods." Admin_S: "Light Attack. This skill adds light elemental damage which scales off of your Magic stat. It costs MP to use. Unlike Elemental Attack, this does not deal recoil damage." Admin_S: "Evolves into Holy Light Attack." Admin_S: "Dark Attack. This skill adds dark elemental damage which scales off of your Magic stat. It costs MP to use. Unlike Elemental Attack, this does not deal recoil damage." Admin_S: "Evolves into Black Attack." Admin_S: "Poison Attack. This skill adds poison to your attacks at the cost of SP. Unlike other damage types, it does not deal direct damage, instead applying a damage over time effect. The higher this skill's level, the more damage it deals. You are immune to your own poison." Admin_S: "Evolves into Deadly Poison Attack." Admin_S: "Prism Attack. This skill allows you to make use of all your attack skills simultaneously. You get a 5% SP/MP discount per level, and conflicting elements like fire and ice don't get negated, allowing the full effect of all the attack skills to hit." |
With the exception of "Light Attack" which required the "Hero" Skill and "Dark Attack" which required the "Demon Lord" Skill, all of the Attack Skills I acquired were free. "Heretic Attack" from the "Ally Killer" Title, "Poison Attack" from being a "Serpent", and "Prism Attack" from "Ruler of Instinct". "Light Attack" and "Dark Attack" were pretty cheap, so I don't really consider them to be points wasted.
| Admin_S: "Wonderful. Now we come to the Enhancement Skills. These skills boost various damage types and effects. They give their boost for any skill which matches their type." |
I'm just going to apply the same logic I've been using for most Skills. If they aren't something especially useful or aren't Exclusive, I'm probably not going to bother buying any and stick solely to whichever ones are free.
|
Admin_S: "Destruction Enhancement. Gives a general boost to all physical attacks." Admin_S: "Evolves into Destruction Super-Enhancement." Admin_S: "Is this really all you're going to take from here? I mean, I get where you're coming from... actually, given some of the upcoming possible choices you could make then hoarding Blessings may actually be a good idea." Admin_S: "Moving on, we now have the Active Skills. A variety of skills that can be used at will, usually at a small cost." Admin_S: "Hold Back. While this skill is active, any attack the user does which would drop a target's HP to 0, instead drops it to 1 HP, and knocks them unconscious. While it can help with ethics, remember you only gain EXP for actually killing." Admin_S: "Okay, apparently that's all you wanted from Active Skills, so now we're moving on to Leadership Skills. These skills assist you in working with others." |
Okay, there's actually a lot of stuff I want from here.
|
Admin_S: "Leadership. This skill makes it easier to coordinate your subordinates. As long as they are willing, they'll automatically know your orders." Admin_S: "Evolves into Command, which evolves into Tactician." Admin_S: "Egg-Laying. This skill allows you to lay eggs. They will hatch into the most basic evolution of your species, though certain evolutions may cause you to be a different species than you started as, resulting in eggs of that species." Admin_S: "Kin Control. Your soul is intrinsically linked to your offspring, allowing you to control, track, and communicate with them from wherever you are. Particularly strong individuals may break off from your control, as it isn't so much mind control, as it is a strong paternal loyalty. Admin_S: "Also, a word of warning. I'm looking through D's code, and it looks like this skill might have a secret backdoor which could be exploited by rebellious children. It's pretty specific, but it is a risk." Admin_S: "Friendly Fire. Huh. It seems D made this skill, but never bothered making it available for unlock. She is a sadist I suppose." Admin_S: "Well, if you have it, it will make it so any attacks you make can't hurt your allies unless you want them to." Admin_S: "Instructor. This neat skill lets you forcibly unlock skills for others, spending your own skill points to grant them a skill they don't have." |
I remember "Egg-Laying" and "Kin Control" being essential for Kumoko's Immortality Reincarnation scheme. "Leadership" will hopefully help me counter the risks of any of my more esteemed offspring from rebeling against me via "Kin Control" like what happened with "Mother" or with Ariel.
"Friendly Fire" seems useful for operating in large groups since it makes it to where you can avoid huring your allies unintentionally. As for "Instructor", I have some ideas I want to test with it as part of my plan to get around D's curse.
| Admin_S: "Now we come to the Perception Skills. This category contains skills that allow you to see things beyond the physical senses, and various mental enhancement skills." |
Oh yeah, there's some real bread winners in here.
|
Admin_S: "Appraisal. While initially useless, this skill allows you to view detailed information on a target. The higher the level, the more detailed the information. Can be used passively to always be aware of your own stats. When used by a human or demon, it can cause mild headaches at low levels." Admin_S: "Detection. Combines and makes redundant all nine Perception skills. Seems like a nine in one steal, right? Well, having this skill makes it impossible to use them separately. The sheer amount of information gathered will give you a massive migraine unless you have sufficient levels of Parallel Thinking and Arithmetic Processing. A very powerful option if you can get it going, but it notably locks you out of magic until you can effectively use Detection." Admin_S: "Genetic Recall. This skill will give you the ability to visualize a full evolution tree of your chosen monster type. It includes what bonuses you get for which evolutions, and exactly what the requirements are for them." |
The winning combo of "Appraisal" and "Detection". Knowledge is power and all that. I'm pretty sure that "Heresy Nullification" counters the downside of "Detection" causing information overload, which means that I'm good since I already have "Heresy Nullification" thanks to "Ruler of Perseverance".
As for "Genetic Recall", my understanding is that it's an Exclusive Skill that functions similarly to how Kumoko gained the ability to see the entire Taratect Evolution Tree at some point after gaining "Ruler of Wisdom" which will help steer my Evolutions in the direction I desire.
| Admin_S: "Very good. Next stop, Magic Skills! Magic skills work a bit differently from other skills. First, instead of raising their effectiveness, new levels grant access to new spells. Second, instead of evolving into stronger skills, maxing out a magic skill will derive the next tier at level 1, ensuring you still have access to the lower level spells." |
Well let me see what sounds good. Hmm...
|
Admin_S: "Magic Power Operation. Okay, I lied. This skill behaves like normal skills. This allows you to weave magic into runes to cast your spells. Higher levels speed up your ability to weave magic. It is required to use magic." Admin_S: "Evolves into Precise Magic Power Operation." Admin_S: "Heretic Magic. This school of magic has a variety of effects that create illusions and influence the mind of the target." Admin_S: "Derives Jinx Magic." |
"Magic Power Operation" is essential if I want to do Magic at all, which I obviously do, but I'm not sure if splurging on Magic Skills is useful just yet. If I have any leftover Blessings, I may circle back here. "Heretic Magic" came free thanks to "Kin Eater", so at least I have a school of magic to start with.
| Admin_S: "Before we move on to the remaining Skills, I'd like to take a brief foray into the Evil Eye Skills. Evil Eye skills drain mana to inflict their effect continuously against a target you are looking at. You can only use a number of evil eye skills simultaneously equal to your number of eyes. They are difficult to acquire by normal means. If you have Ruler of Perseverance, you can get generic evil eyes which deal any damage type or status condition for a small skill point cost. As those are all rather simple, I'll only be listing the Evil Eye skills unlockable by other means." |
Okay, what are my options? Huh, not a whole lot really. Two of them require me to be a fucking Vampire to get, which kind of sucks but whatever. I'll just get the ones I can because Evil Eyes are cool.
|
Admin_S: "Cursed Evil Eye. At a low cost of MP, slowly reduces the target's HP. Incredibly efficient in terms of MP to damage, but rather slow." Admin_S: "Evolves into Jinx Evil Eye, which doesn't deal more damage, but now returns the damage dealt as healing to the user, and does the same to the target's SP and MP. It also very gradually deals Curse damage, reducing the target's ability scores, though this effect can be resisted by Status Condition Resistance." Admin_S: "Really, it's just free damage once it evolves." Admin_S: "Petrifying Evil Eye. Attempts to petrify the target. The time required depends on target's Resistance, but unlike paralysis, it will slowly spread across their body instead of being a binary effect. Very slow, but parts petrified do not return to normal without healing magic." Admin_S: "Rather potent, though it can be bad if you wanted to actually eat the target." |
"Cursed Evil Eye" is one of my personal favorite Skills and I'm glad that having the "Demon Lord" Skill makes me eligible for it. Seriously, you either have to be a Vampire or have the "Demon Lord" Skill to get it, which means that Vampire's get THREE fucking unique Evil Eye's! What is this shit?!
| Admin_S: "Yeah, it's kind of a scam considering that Vampire's are more or less extinct. Since Cursed Evil Eye and Petrifying Evil Eye brought it up, sort of, how about we move on to the Resistance Skills. These skills offer protection from various damage types or effects. They stack with your basic defense or resistance stats. Nullification is difficult to reach, but provides a flat 99,999 resistance, which is enough to be immune to all but the most absurdly powerful beings in the system." |
I'm probably going to be super boring and only select the free ones since they can all be earned without points.
|
Admin_S: "Rot Resistance. Offers blanket reduction in rot damage." Admin_S: "Evolves into Rot Super-Resistance, which evolves into Rot Nullification." Admin_S: "Poison Resistance. Offers blanket reduction in poison damage." Admin_S: "Evolves into Poison Super-Resistance, which evolves into Poison Nullification." Admin_S: "Status Condition Resistance. Offers blanket reduction in the effectiveness of status conditions. Includes Poison, Paralysis, Petrification, and Faint resistance." Admin_S: "Evolves into Status Condition Super-Resistance, which evolves into Status Condition Nullification." Admin_S: "Heresy Resistance. Offers blanket protection against effects which target the mind or soul, though it does not protect against effects which directly harm the soul itself." Admin_S: "Notably also helps reduce the mental warping of the ruler skills, though even Heresy Nullification can't negate them entirely." Admin_S: "Evolves into Heresy Super-Resistance, which evolves into Heresy Nullification." |
Yep, boring I may be, but they're all pretty damn good. Though "Heresy Resistance" is kinda pointless since I already have "Heresy Nullification" as I previously stated. What do we got next?
| Admin_S: "Next we got Passive Skills. These skills provide a variety of passive bonuses." |
You don't say? Wow, I would never have guessed that.
|
Admin_S: "...Rude." Admin_S: "Grappling. Greatly boosts the damage and strength of gripping and constricting attacks." Admin_S: "Evolves into Wrestling." Admin_S: "Dragon Scales. Adds thick scales to the body which greatly boost defense, and also actively interfere with incoming magic, decreasing its potency." Admin_S: "Evolves into Imperial Scales, which evolves into Divine Scales." Admin_S: "Ore Body. This skill makes your body's skin or scales rougher and harder, passively boosting defense." Admin_S: "Evolves into Steel Body, which evolves into Ultra Steel Body." Admin_S: "Immortality. The user can no longer die within the system. Only skills that deal system-agnostic damage like Heretic Attack and Abyss Magic can permanently kill you. You probably want HP Auto-Recovery too, otherwise you'll be technically alive, but without a working body." |
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Damn am I glad I save some serious Blessings for this! Though it seems I'm a little bit in the red, which probably means I'm going to have to take some Drawbacks. Meh, worth it for "Immortality". Also, between "Dragon Scales", "Ore Body", and all of my other "Resistance Skills", I'm seemingly going for a DPS/Tank hybrid. If Kumoko's a DEX build, I'm clearly an END build.
| Admin_S: "Well, we've got the Sinful and Virtuous Skills. These skills act as lesser versions of the Ruler Skills." |
I'd really love to get them to try and get a lead on some of the other Ruler Skills, but I'm not sure I can afford them given that I'm already in the negative Blessings-wise. Meh, I can earn them naturally.
|
Admin_S: "Fair enough. Next we have Species Specific Skills. These skills are unique to certain species." Admin_S: "Admittedly, most of these are unavailable to you since you're neither a Vampire nor a Wyrm, which really only leaves one option available." |
Hmm, given my current build it could be kind of funny to go for it. Fuck it, why not?
| Admin_S: "Revenge. Normally, this skill is exclusive to a monster known as an Anogratch. But I think it still works on other species. Basically, it gives you a dead-man's switch. If you perish, everyone of your species within a 10 mile radius is alerted, and will instinctively try to destroy the one who killed you." |
Hehehe, surprise Snek Rush instead of surprise Monke Rush.
|
Admin_S: "And that should be everything! Wait a second... Miscellaneous Skills? Hmm. There are a bunch of weird skills in the listing I haven't seen before. Let me check something..." Admin_S: "Yep. These skills were gifts to the other reincarnated folks. I don't see any reason not to let you pick some of them though." |
Wait, the Cheat Skills of the other Reincarnators?! Oh this is busted! Let me see...
| Admin_S: "Divine Protection. This skill greatly enhances luck, helping guide events to be more in your favor. However, the skill's definition of favorable is a bit flawed. It mainly prioritizes events which would help you build a harem, whether you want one or not." |
Honestly, most of the Cheat Skills were kind of mid. Apparently it might be possible to use "Greed" to gain Exclusive Skills from others, so I might try to rush "Ruler of Greed" and possibly go Reincarnation hunting.
| Admin_S: "Okay, we've got one final section to cover before we get to the sad times that are Drawbacks. We've got some special Administrator S-backed Perks! Now that we've gone through all the skills, here are some general perks I can provide to make your new life more pleasant. These are all, by their nature, exclusive." |
"Perks" huh? Let me see what you've got.
|
Admin_S: "Reshape. You will be being reborn, to new parents, but with the same soul, and your memories intact. By taking this option, you can choose what you'll look like when you grow up, at least if you're a Human or Demon. You can pick anything within standard human limits, and I'll even fix any dysphoria you have. If you're a monster, this will only apply if you reach a humanoid evolution. Without this option, your humanoid appearance will match your current appearance." Admin_S: "Polyglot. Can be purchased up to three times. I'll download a full understanding of one of this world's languages into your mind. Chose between the Human tongue, the Demon tongue, or Japanese. Japanese will notably allow you to communicate with the other reincarnators. You may not need this if you are Human or Demon, as you'll have plenty of time to learn the language as you grow up." Admin_S: "Hotline. With this, I'll be able to telepathically keep in contact with you! There are some rules in place though. I can only chat in times of calm, so I can't assist in battle or warn of ambushes. I also can't share info about the goings on in the wider world. But other than that, I'm down to provide advice, or just chat." Admin_S: "Conjuring 101. With this, you'll gain the ability to use very low level conjuration. At most, you'll be able to do very mild magic attacks, weaker than even the level 1 magic spells. But, having access to even meager power outside the system could come in handy." |
"Reshape" is useful for vanity reasons if nothing else. Naturally, purchased all three purchases of "Polyglot" to brush up on my Japanese which was still kind of rusty, but also so I could fast track my way through the Human and Demon common languages ahead of time. "Hotline" was mostly for advice to learn more about Conjuring, but also so I could have someone to talk to if I get bored.

Admin_S: "Yay! I'm looking forward to it! Let S-Sensei teach you all you need to know!" Admin_S: "Sadly though, it's time for the Drawbacks." Admin_D: "Moshi moshi, it's everyone favorite Evil Goddess, Administrator D-sama! Did you forget about me?" Admin_S: "Kind of hard to forget about you, boss." Admin_D: "Ah, hello there little cheater. I couldn't help but notice how much you were struggling to grab everything you wanted with such a pittance of blessing points." Admin_S: "...you're the one who set that limit in the first place." Admin_D: "Well, regardless of whose fault it is, I suppose I could be convinced to grant Administrator S permission to give you more blessings. But, I have conditions. Nothing too crazy, I just want you to take some drawbacks which will make your adventures more entertaining for me to watch." Admin_S: "Please be careful. No matter how innocuous they may seem, there's always a nasty twist with D's schemes." |
Looking over my options, I bite the bullet and make my selections.
|
Admin_D: "Nemesis. This one is simple. I'll inform my champion that you pose an existential threat to her survival. That's it." Admin_S: "I'm not as skilled at prognostication as D, but I can only see this ending extremely badly for you." Admin_D: "Companion. I'll send a cute innocent spider to be your companion. Isn't she adorable?" Admin_S: "Note that she is sadistic and malicious. She won't hurt you, but she'll steal kills and make it nearly impossible to make friends." Admin_D: "Hardcore. I believe S promised to return you to earth when you die? Well, if you take this, I'll forbid her from doing so. When you die, your soul will be returned to earth, but only so it can reincarnate as normal, without your memories." Admin_D: "Heck, this is barely even a downside! Just don't die." Admin_D: "Cursed to Live in Interesting Times. This one is quite simple. In exchange for allowing you to have all these blessings, I will subtly manipulate your fate to ensure that you regularly face circumstances that cannot be dealt with trivially. After all, I expect you to be fun to watch. It's no fun if you use your power to hole up somewhere." Admin_D: "Attractive. Other monsters of your type will see you as a desirable mate. They'll never attack you without outside influence, but their constant advances will probably be quite annoying." Admin_S: "Plus, while you may be a monster yourself, the sapience-gap is creepy." |
So I wonder how Kumoko's supposed to be my "Nemesis" and my "Companion" simultaneously.
| Admin_D: "Oh, that's easy. I'll just forbid her from attacking you or trying to kill you directly and force her to try and sabotage you indirectly." |
Yep, that'd do it. Fuck.
|
Admin_S: "Well, there's one more piece of good news for you! Special Evolutions! If you have specific species/skill combos, you can unlock what are known as Special Evolutions. You first have to reach a natural end-point of your evolution tree, at which point you can further evolve into one of these forms. You'll retain all the benefits of your previous form, while gaining the special benefits of these forms. You can only have one Special Evolution." Admin_S: "You qualify for the following Special Evolutions!:" Admin_S: "Ouroboros. Requires "Serpent" and "Immortality"! The undying serpent grants the ability to adapt after every defeat. When "killed", you gain a massive permanent increase to the resistances which match what defeated you. This also greatly boosts passive regenerative abilities." Admin_S: "Gorgon. Requires "Serpent" and "Ruler of Perseverance"! Can't have "Cue-Ball (Baldness Drawback)"! Also requires every Evil Eye skill to be unlocked, but this can be done naturally with skill points. Adds thick snake hair to your final evolution, adding a myriad of eyes with which to more effectively use your Evil Eyes." Admin_S: "Jörmungandr. Requires "Serpent" and "Ruler of Instinct"! Grants wingless flight, and makes it so every level, you get 10% bigger. Potentially leads to incredible power, but such massive size can be a downside too." Admin_S: "I know I said you can only have one Special Evolution, but since I'm nicer than D, I'll grant you a boon and prepare a Unique Special Evolution combining all three Special Evolutions you qualify for! I'll keep the details a secret for now." |
Well that's really damn nice of you, S-Sensei.
| Admin_S: "Thank you, my Champion. Now it's time to discuss the final topic. Stariting Locations! Well, once you have all your blessings sorted out, the final thing to do is decide where you want to start." |
Alrighty then! Let me take a quick look... ooh, this looks very useful.
| Admin_S: "Demon Lord's Aide. I'll set you up to start in the demon territories, and inform Ariel, the demon lord of your arrival. She can be rather cold and harsh, but once she learns you're a transmigrator, she'll warm up to you quickly if you prove useful. She does not take kindly to traitors, or those who hurt her family." |
"Well then, having Ariel on side pretty much from the jump helps alleviate a considerable amount of early game worry for me. She's the most powerful non-Admininstrator on the planet and our interests more or less align with one another. Plus I don't need to worry about starting off on a bad foot with the whole 'soul-devouring of the Queen Taratect' thing that Kumoko needs to worry about.
Though I am slightly concerned that D's going to crack down on me if I just turtle up in the Demon Lands and idle my way to Godhood with 'Ruler of Instinct', so I'm going to have to put in the work. Besides, 'Ruler of Instinct' benefits from putting in the work anyway."
| Admin_S: "Are you satisfied with your choices, my Champion?" |
"I am."
| *Administrator S has left the chat* |
Suddenly, the titanic Lamia-esque figure of Administrator S shrinks down to roughly my size. "In that case, it's time to get going. Good luck."
She then gives me a kiss on my cheek and my vision gradually blurs.

Admin_S: "Ouroboros. Requires "Serpent" and "Immortality"! The undying serpent grants the ability to adapt after every defeat. When "killed", you gain a massive permanent increase to the resistances which match what defeated you. This also greatly boosts passive regenerative abilities."
