-----Morgan Yu/Typhon Prime-----

-----Rooftops of Brockton Bay, CT-----

-----04/23/2011-----

There's some bullshit afoot. And it's not "my" bullshit. I don't like that.

I'm pretty sure I know where Coil's main base is, given the subterranean electrical activity in the middle of a construction zone, but even if I know where the Snake does his dastardly deeds, that doesn't mean that I'm guaranteed to catch the snake.

It took a bit of effort on my part, but I did eventually manage to track down the civilian abode of one Thomas Calvert, PRT Consultant, and riddled the place with Mimics.

Unfortunately, he takes separation of work life and home life very seriously. He never takes any Mimic'd items with him to go and do his Villain stuff.

I'd say that he's being paranoid, but seeing as how I really am out to get him, he's sadly justified in his paranoia. I'm pretty sure my Mimics are largely unknown, so I doubt it has something to do with that.

Maybe he thinks he's being monitored by the PRT? My impromptu cyber raid on The Rig and PRT ENE did lead to some of the holes he'd built into the PRT's systems to be discovered by Armsmaster and Dragon.

Maybe that's why he's chilling out? He knows that his operational capacity is potentially compromised, so he's been forced to lay low until the heat dies down.

Also, Dinah's been pretty chill these days. She seems far more relaxed than she had been recently. It's like after the day of the bank robbery, which didn't actually happen, she just kind of stopped worrying so much.

I wonder if she picked up on the Mimic hit squad I've got planted all over her house?

-----Dinah Alcott-----

-----Her House-----

"Probability of being kidnapped today?"

{0.1789%}

Still pretty low. Taking another look at my "new" teddy bear and "new" keychain for my backpack, I once more give a silent thanks to my "observers".

I first noticed an oddity several weeks back with the placement of my teddy bear on my bed. It wasn't in the position that I'd left it in. Several questions to my Power later only made things even more confusing.

Especially when I found an identical teddy bear seemingly hidden underneath my bed where it likely would've gone unnoticed for some time had I not asked a few subtle questions.

So the question became "how do I have two perfectly identical teddy bears?"

Unfortunately, my Power couldn't answer questions like that, but it could tell me that the likelihood of the new teddy bear being related to whoever wanted to kidnap me was basically as close to "nonexistent" as my Power could get.

Then again, my Power tended to get rather weird when I started trying to ask questions about the teddy bear. And the keychain on my backpack. And a number of different objects throughout the house.

Whenever I tried to ask questions about the duplicates or where they came from, it was almost like my Power had trouble comprehending the existence of the duplicates and thus couldn't give me concise answers.

After a few days of trial and error, I managed to work out a connection between the duplicate items and a new... individual? Someone new in Brockton Bay. Typhon Prime.

Believed to be a maniacal bio-Tinker of some sort, I'm one of the few who knows better. Typhon Prime isn't a Tinker, or a Cape for that matter. They aren't even Human at all. They're something else.

Whatever they are, I managed to work out that the duplicates were ultimately sent by Typhon Prime to observe me and that they were likely aware of my situation and were protecting me.

After the date that I'd calculated for my kidnapping resulted in nothing happening, I noticed that the percentage chance of it happening became nearly nonexistent. At least in the short-term.

It seems that Coil hasn't given up on me completely, but he's unable to put a plan in motion anytime soon. I'm actually mildly disappointed that he's choosing to be so timid.

It's clear that the Typhon protecting me are more so meant to be a tracking system to alert Typhon Prime to Coil's whereabouts. On the one hand, I'm not entirely happy about being used as bait. On the other hand, being rid of Coil would be rather nice.

-----Thomas Calvert/Coil-----

-----His Base-----

-----Timeline A-----

Ugh. Stupid bitch! Why the fuck is she acting so smug?!

-----Timeline B-----

"Tell me what I want to know, and this all stops Sarah."

"Go fuck yourself you limp-dicked pedophile! I'm not telling you shit!" Tattletale says.

Somehow, the little bitch seems to have gotten a massive head start on figuring out how my Power works. A few minutes of torture is usually enough to get her to spill her guts. Figuratively.

And sometimes literally.

Unfortunately, she's become far more laid back and relaxed during our "sessions" together. She outright refuses to break and divulge any hidden information that I know she has.

She seems to know that she's still useful enough to not just kill her and be done with it.

She also seems to have some rather impressive willpower even under the influence of Tinkertech narcotics. She becomes surprisingly good at keeping her mouth shut, even when wracked with withdrawl.

Hell, there's been more than a couple timelines where she takes herself out to prevent me from forcing any information out of her. Usually with explosive results.

Hah. Somehow, torturing her to death just isn't as satisfying when she clearly doesn't give a shit about her own life. Thankfully, the rest of The Undersider's aren't quite as stubborn as her, but the drawback is that they know next to nothing compared to Tattletale.

Dropping Timeline B, I slump over in my chair contemplating my next move.

-----Fortuna/Contessa-----

-----Cauldron Base, Earth Eden-----

Hah, this is so annoying. I can barely remember what it was like to be so helpless, so lost and void of direction that I actually had to think my actions through.

It's both incredibly novel, and incredibly irritating.

"Any progress?" Doctor Mother asks me once again.

"Path to Resolving Blindspot."

  1. I used to wish we weren't alone in the universe.
  2. Did we make that in one of the labs?
  3. Where do you suppose they came from?
  4. You ever been half awake?
  5. I've been watching them for hours, and I still don't know how many of them are out there.
  6. This is some kind of bad dream.
  7. Even if we're dead, it won't be over.
  8. What does it look like? The shape in the glass?
  9. They want to live inside us! Like a disease!
  10. What do you see in the glass?
  11. You seem...frustrated.
  12. Are you alone? Are you...angry?
  13. Shh! Hang on! Someone's coming.
  14. Shh! There's something!
  15. There's something over there!
  16. What was that?
  17. Was that really you?
  18. I hear something!
  19. Better not be anything.
  20. They could be anything, anyone!
  21. Come out!
  22. I hear you.
  23. Where are you?
  24. Shit, what is going on?
  25. I didn't find anything.
  26. I give up!
  27. It was just here!
  28. Just....vanished!
  29. I must be losing my mind.
  30. I see you!
  31. Morgan!
  32. Come...to me!
  33. Turn around!
  34. Who are you?
  35. Why are you here?
  36. It´s over!
  37. Escape!
  38. The Black!
  39. Get out!
  40. Get away from me!
  41. Kill!
  42. Experiment!
  43. The experiment went wrong!

"Nope, still giving me a bunch of nonsense." And wasn't that the truth?

A series of barely coherent phrases lined up in no apparent order or context. Although some of the phrases did have some rather disturbing possible implications.

Things about being alone in the universe, living inside us, experiment's going wrong, etc. It hit a little too close for comfort considering the Agents of the Entities responsible for Parahuman Powers.

But unfortunately, that didn't bring me any closer to figuring out what exactly was causing such a peculiar interruption of "Path to Victory". I've never seen it malfunction quite like this.

I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not that it only seems to be affecting Paths related to Earth Bet. On the one hand, that particular Earth's home to a large number of potential assets, on the other hand the interference is stuck there.

Clairvoyant and Doormaker have also been impacted by this interference as well, but not to the extent of preventing the use of Doors to and from Earth Bet. It just seems to be isolated to Brockton Bay.

Although that also presents its fair share of problems given that the interference means that we can't passively observe the progress of the Terminus Project, among other things.

Not to mention that the handful of assets we have in Brockton Bay are next to useless in terms gathering information. The best we can figure is that the interference seems to be centered on a new Trigger called "Typhon Prime".

Supposedly a Case 53 bio-Tinker/Master/Trump of some sort with the ability to create Powered minions out of Human corpses, among other various abilities.

While that certainly seems to be a rather appealing Power for usage in the final battle by turning the corpses of unpowered Humans into pseudo-Parahumans, it's also troubling that their Power seems to be throwing off large-scale Thinkers.

Also, they definitely aren't a Case 53, or at least not one of ours. So as to where they came from, I haven't got a clue.

Hang on.

Step 2: "Did we make that in one of the labs?"

What an odd coincidence. I don't believe in coincidence.

This warrants more direct investigation.
