Qing lowered his phone after scrolling through Tweeter and looked out the window.

A clear blue sky. Bright sunlight. Palm trees swaying in the wind... A beautiful sight.

If only Qing and Sitri weren't trapped in a car surrounded on all sides by other cars.

It was the typical Los Angeles traffic. Although they arrived in the morning, and though the office was only around a dozen miles away from the airport, it had already been an hour since Toby started.

Qing looked at Toby and said, "Does it always take this long to travel such a short distance?"

Toby glanced back at Qing through the rearview mirror and said, "Here? Yes." He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel and said, "I still have yet to figure out why... but you get used to it."

Qing sighed and glanced at the time on his phone.

1 PM. The plan was to start everything by 6, so it would be best if they could get there earlier to make sure things were set up properly. But at this rate...

Sitri leaned against Qing and grabbed his hand. Letting out a bright smile, she said, "Everything will be fine, Master."

Qing smiled back and said, "Master this, Master that... Is it still too much to call me by name?"

Sitri giggled and said, "Well, this makes it more clear who owns me, doesn't it? Ma-su-tah~?"

Toby glanced back at the two through the rearview mirror and chuckled.

Qing's face turned red and then he cleared his throat. "Ahem. I-In any case. Toby. Have we found the other talents?"

Toby nodded and said, "Yes. Like Prototype, we will start with three. The first is obviously Miss Sitri. The second is my friend Xander's younger sister. And the third... Well." He looked back ahead and said, "You'll see when we get there."

Qing sighed and said, "I still don't see why John is being so secretive about this. Would it not be better for everyone involved to know what is going on?"

Sitri nodded and said, "Yeah!" She crossed her arms and said, "I still don't even know what we're supposed to be doing."

A gap opened up on the right as traffic started speeding up somewhere ahead. Without hesitation, Toby immediately sped up and passed the cars on his right, squeezing into the small gap amidst constant honking. As he did that, he said, "As I mentioned, it will make sense when we arrive. Employer said that keeping it on a need to know basis will eliminate the possibility of unwanted variables."

Qing paused and then slowly nodded. "I suppose that makes sense." He glanced outside the window and said, "As much as John tries, his very presence seem to cause events to go awry so- Hm?"

Sitri leaned over to follow Qing's gaze and said, "What is it, Master?"

Qing continued staring out the window and then said, "Toby."

"Yes?"

"...Is the city supposed to be on fire?"

"Considering that California is prone to forest fires and there was a warning recently about the potential for one... In a way. Why?"

Qing paused to process that statement, realizing again just how ridiculous John's homeland seemed to be... and also realizing how much that explained about John's actions in the Three Realms. But then he shook his head and said, "No. I mean that a pillar of smoke and large flames are spilling from about a dozen buildings in the depths of that city."

Toby looked away from the road for a moment to see what Qing was looking at.

The Willshare Grand Center and the American Bank Tower. The first and second tallest buildings in California. Thick black smoke and crimson flames were surrounding both, and the buildings shook as if explosions were happening inside of them.

Qing frowned and said, "...Should we go help?" He looked back at Toby and said, "If this is the city we are to live in along with the city we will work, an event such as this-"

"Don't worry about it." Toby kept driving, quickly scraping through small gaps in the traffic. "You should see San Andreas and Vice City. Helicopters and airplanes crashing into buildings all the time there."

"...What?"

Toby ignored Qing's confused look and said, "Anyway, Eva and Leo have it covered. Just rest up and enjoy the ride until we arrive."

A secret facility in the basement of the Willshare Grand Center. One filled with virus samples, bioweapon diagrams, and futuristic military equipment.

"You know." Eva stomped on a corpse's skull with her heels, digging in before pulling them out. After that, she looked at Leo and said, "When you told me you were taking me out on a date, I didn't think you were taking me to hell again."

Leo sighed as he finished setting up the detonator on the bomb they planted in the building's basement. "I promise, we'll go do something more romantic after we finish this job."

"Oh, I don't mind." Eva casually pulled out a gun from her chest and shot a soldier peering around the corner. "This is business as usual for us. Although I was hoping that my first date would be a bit more... normal."

Leo paused and said, "Didn't you say you had a boyfriend when we met?" He frowned, wracking his mind for a bit, and then said, "John, right? Wait." He looked at Eva and said, "Is that why you joined the Legends Security company?"

Eva rolled her eyes as she pistolwhipped a corpse shambling behind her. "You have that good of a memory, huh?"

Leo finished setting up the fuse and stood up. "It was a memorable experience."

Eva placed her hand on her hip and said, "I'll have you know that I've been single my whole life, alright? Career woman and all that jazz."

"Huh. Really?" Leo gave Eva a onceover and said, "...You don't give off that atmosphere."

"Rude. Just because a lady's seductive doesn't mean she puts out all the time."

"I'm just saying that I was surprised."

"Well, you'll have to surprise me later to make up for all of this." Eva started walking away and said, "I want a home-cooked meal, a nice hotel reservation, and a steamy night in bed before breakfast the day after."

Leo caught up with Eva and said, "You're as straightforward as ever."

"Love is less complicated when you are."

The pair swept the basement one more time before making their way out towards a secret exit hatch hidden in the wall.

Eva watched Leo unlock it and said, "I still don't understand how you're so good at finding these sorts of hidden passages."

Leo stepped back as it opened and said, "Well. It turns out that these big secret crime syndicates like to think they're smart and end up doing the same things."

"Yeah?"

"Mmhm." Leo led the way and said, "You won't believe the number of times I've had to play classical piano songs to unlock a door."

Eva laughed and said, "Really? Classical music?"

"Really." Leo chuckled and said, "Some of the puzzles I've seen... But anyway." He pulled out his phone and opened up the Legends App to check-in. "We confirmed that the Jinhan chaebol is involved in bioweapons as well and were doing contract work for both Parasol and Blackscan."

Eva sighed and said, "Why am I not surprised?"

Leo frowned and said, "People with money think they can do anything... But that's why Boss made Legends Security company. Someone's got to handle these things in the background."

"...I thought we were idol security detail?"

"That's just our day jobs." Leo smirked and said, "Why? Getting cold feet?"

Eva rolled her eyes and said, "Did you forget who saved you back in Tanuki city?"

"Hey! That was my first day on the job! And I was hungover after a bad breakup!"

"Really now?" Eva clicked her tongue and said, "So I was just a rebound chick for you, huh?"

"Of course not! And weren't you the one who said you had a boyfriend anyway?"

"I was a beautiful and petite Asian woman in a place where death was around every corner and no one would hear me scream. Of course, I could've kicked your ass from LA to Tokyo, but it was easier to draw a line somewhere. Boundaries are important in business relationships."

Leo sighed and then said, "Whatever. ...Thai food alright for dinner?"

"Racist."

"What?! I haven't had it forever!"

"And I haven't had Korean barbecue since I got back to the states, so we're doing that."

Back in Japan, the newly acquired Smith family home, early morning.

John held Aurora in his arms while scrolling through his phone.

"Ba?" Aurora squirmed a bit trying to look at John's phone.

"No, Rory." John shifted Aurora and said, "Daddy's doing work."

"Ba... Baba?"

"Just because Mommy lets you do whatever you want doesn't mean it's something you should do."

"Ba!"

"Also, do you really have to tire Mommy out that much?"

"...Ba."

John chuckled and said, "Well, she's happy, so I guess it's fine- Hm?"

A small chime echoed as a notification popped up on John's phone. He tapped it and then read the contents.

"Ba?"

John sighed and then put his phone away. After that, he patted Aurora's fuzzy blonde hair and said, "Don't worry, Rory. Just some bad guys I have to deal with."

"Ba!"

"No you can't come with. That would make Mommy go crazy and make the streets run red from a mountain of corpses."

"Baba?"

"Yes it's bad."

"Ba."

"...Why are you still awake anyway?" John shifted Aurora and stared into her wide green eyes. "A baby like you should be sleeping if you want to grow up big and strong like your sisters, you know?"

Aurora gasped and then immediately shut her eyes, snuggling up against John's chest. But then she frowned and then looked up at John again. "Ba! Baba!"

John rolled his eyes and said, "Sorry that I don't have squishy pillows for you, Rory."

"...Hmph!" Aurora shut her eyes again and then frowned, squirming to try and find a comfortable position. After a while, she finally found a good one and drifted off to sleep.

John watched her for a bit before sighing. "...None of my kids are going to be normal, are they?" He shook his head and then pulled out a tablet from his Heavenly Realm. "Let's see... Since Titor's busy with <World Line>, I should probably work on the MIRAIZ app, right? Hm..." John frowned for a bit, thinking, and then he said, "Well. I guess I could open up the beta testing in a few different places. And I always wanted to see if I could make a proper <System>..."
