The golden light of dawn illuminated everything underneath oblivious to the darkness stirring at a particular apartment room. Zhu Lian, who was determined to have Long Yuzhou, was excited to witness her new found charm attract him to herself. A gleam of excitement appeared on her face as she went to prepare herself for the party tonight. She wants to be the best among everyone in the party so she kept tossing and turning everything in her closet until she found a perfect costume.
Zhu Lian picked up a velvety Burgundy backless Plunge neck Bodycon dress from her closet. She stood in front of the full length mirror with the dress she picked, accessing if it was suitable for her. Just as she was about to pick up another one, a red nailed hands wrapped around her waist, a low husky voice whispered in her ears,
“Hottieee~, You will be gorgeous on this one. I am sure that you will surely win Long Yuzhou tonight. If I were Long Yuzhou, I would have taken you right here, right now.”
Zhu Lian looked at their reflection on the mirror with a smirk as Scarlet nuzzled into her neck. She didn’t hesitate to push Scarlet away saying,
“I was already generous enough to let you stay by my side even after what you did to me last night. Don’t push your luck so much. I’m just tolerating you because I want to get Long Yuzhou for myself.”
Scarlet chuckled darkly as she let go of Zhu Lian. She said amusedly,
“Fine, fine! I won’t disturb you anymore. Have great fun tonight, Hottiee~.”
With that Scarlet disappeared, leaving Zhu Lian alone in her room. She was unbothered by the sudden disappearance as she focused on preparing for the upcoming party, totally immersed in the thoughts of Long Yuzhou.
On the other hand, Long Yuzhou was not aware of the approaching chaos. He woke up early in the morning, messy hair and satin pajamas loosely hanging over his shoulder as he stretched his stiff muscles. He left the bed, walking towards the floor-to-ceiling window adjacent to his bed. He opened the curtain, letting the morning light filter through the glass window brightening the insides. He stood there for a while basking in the morning warmth, his body glistening under the golden rays. He looked outside the window, noticing a few of his securities guarding near the big gate of his mansion while a few others could be seen tending to the plants and trees in his garden. Suddenly a thought struck him, making him realise that he needed to attend the party arranged by the official to celebrate the new merger tonight. A smile appeared on his face as he remembered the appointment he made with his bunny for tonight. His mood brightened at the thought of his bunny as the previous foul attitude dispelled without a trace. With a bit of excitement he went to refresh, casually gathering a towel and a bathrobe from his closet.
After what felt like ages, Long Yuzhou emerged from the bathroom still radiating the warmth of the hot shower. He dried his hair with a towel as he stood in front of his closet, skimming through his collection of attire. He thought for a while as his gaze landed on the Gold Beige Brocade Tuxedo suit placed on the top. His eyes sparkled with rare excitement as he picked the outfit and the few matching add ons like a pair of golden cufflinks and dark brown leather shoe, a golden brooch adorned with bright red diamond. He placed everything neatly on his bed, changing into a casual pair of a shirt and jeans. He descended down the stairs, heading to the kitchen to prepare a quick, light breakfast and a glass of fresh juice.
After breakfast, Long Yuzhou called in the chief of his securities, Mr. Lin. Mr. Lin was a 40 years old man with a great build. He walked in with the authority of a chief, standing before Long Yuzhou with respect.
Mr. Lin greeted while bowing,
“Greetings, Mr. Long! You have called in for me.”
It was a question but a statement. Long Yuzhou nodded and requested him to occupy the sofa in front of him. Mr. Lin greatly accepted his offer and sat down on the sofa. Long Yuzhou thought for a while before instructing him,
“Mr. Lin, you already know about the party tonight.”
He didn’t wait for Mr. Lin’s response as he continued,
“As you already know about it, I don’t want to hold back any of you here. You can leave work early and don’t need to return till tomorrow’s noon.”
Mr. Lin nodded and thanked before returning back without a second thought as it had been the recent trend of Long Yuzhou to dismiss his minimal securities for an entire day without any explanation.
Long Yuzhou returned to his study to continue working on the data of the recent merger. He had been secretly following up with the official totally not believing that this merger doesn’t have any ulterior motives on their side. Till now he hadn’t found anything suspicious from their side but still he hadn’t let his guards down. He concentrated on the analysis of data shown on his system when a pop up suddenly appeared about the party tonight saying, ‘Rivals at the official’s celebration party! What will happen tonight?’
Long Yuzhou’s actions paused as his focus turned towards the image displayed with the headline showing Yan Jiuheng and himself standing opposite as a rival. His gaze lingered on Yan Jiuheng’s face for longer than necessary. His mind replayed Yan Jiuheng’s words from not so long ago at his garage. He couldn’t help but feel his heart twist at the thought of meeting Yan Jiuheng again. He moved the cursor to close the pop up but it traced the outline of Yan Jiuheng’s face as he voiced out his worry,
“Jiuheng, are you alright? How have you been doing? I hope you didn’t shut yourself once again because of Liu Zhong’s departure. I could understand why you have given that to Liu Zhong but I don’t know why I couldn’t bring myself to accept it even when I can understand you.”
Long Yuzhou paused as a smile appeared on his lips but it didn’t reach his eyes when he said,
“Understand you? Can I really understand you? I don’t think I can ever understand you until and unless I’ll have to become Liu Zhong. The understanding I have about you seems to be wrong. What’s that you hold so dear that you don’t show to the outside world but to your close ones. Why do you choose to suffer silently when you have a chance to solve it easily?”
The cursor lingered on his cheeks as Long Yuzhou asked,
“Jiuheng, will you attend tonight’s party? I want to solve the misunderstanding between us and if possible introduce you to someone. Will you give me a chance to clarify the things between us?”
A sudden phone call startled him, making him click the mouse as a reflex as the pop up closed on his system. He frowned, turning to look at the caller ID reflecting, ‘Governor’. His face turned sour as he ignored the call as he knew very well why he’s suddenly calling. He turned down the volume as he checked the time. It’s already half past one so he turned off his system before heading towards the kitchen to prepare lunch. After a quick lunch, he returned to his room to refresh once again before getting ready for the party.
Long Yuzhou put on the outfit he had prepared early in the morning. He stood before the full length mirror, looking at his reflection while putting on the cufflinks and watch. He adjusted his hair style and the outfit a couple of times which was quite rare for him to do something like this.
Each time Long Yuzhou adjusted his attire, he couldn’t help but imagine his Bunny’s reaction to his outfit. He put on a little make up and sprayed the sandalwood cologne as a final touch. He kept looking at himself, still not satisfied with his look.
Just as Long Yuzhou was about to adjust his attire once again, an alarm rang indicating that it's time to pick up his Bunny. He looked at himself one last time, hoping that his Bunny would like his outfit tonight. He was never this nervous before in his centuries long life. He picked up his car key, securely locked his mansion before going to the garage to get in his car. The engine roared to life as he started the car. He looked at himself once again in the rearview mirror, saying with a gentle smile,
“My Dear Bunny, will you like my current look? Don’t wait for too long, my sweetheart, I’m on the way.”
