The room filled with chatter as people clanked their champagne glasses together and had meaningless conversations. At least that's what Rawanak thought as he stood with five other people at the centre of the packed restaurant. They were all trying to get his attention even though he clearly wasn't into it. This was another of Michael's parties, but this one was a bit different because instead of his friends, it was just a bunch of rich people whom the man needed to invest in his hospitality business. Rawanak had already played for them like he was supposed to, so all he wanted was to go back to his penthouse and be alone, but they all wanted to talk to him afterwards, something Michael seemed to omit when he told him about today's concert.
Even though Michael never mentioned it to Rawanak, a vital part of today's party was Rawanak's performance, which he knew would bring in some investors for the business. He never mentioned it because he felt like Rawanak would refuse, especially considering the state he's been in recently. Michael stood at one end of the room as he watched the somewhat irritated Rawanak, who seemed to be scanning the area, probably looking for him.
"Hey man, you showed up," Michael said as he held out his arms to hug his best friend, who had sneaked up on him. "I wouldn't miss it," Teran said as his eyes searched the room, as if looking for someone.
"You're not here for me, are you? You asshole." Michael hit Teran's shoulder playfully, faking offence at the absent-minded person in front of him. "There he is." Michael pointed at Rawanak, who was still at the centre of the room.
"Wait, what? No." Teran mumbled defensively at his best friend, shocked that he knew who he was searching for. "Look, don't act all cute with me," Michael said, laughing at Teran's embarrassed state. "I know there's something going on between you two. I mean, get it man, the guy sure is pretty," Michael teased his now irritated friend, who never wanted to get caught because he knew Michael would never let it go.
A couple of days had passed since he hired the private investigator, who found absolutely nothing about the blue-haired guy. It's like he popped out of nowhere. There was nothing on him on any system, no ID, no socials, nothing. This puzzled Teran further, so he had come tonight hoping to talk to Rawanak and figure him out. At this point, he wasn't even sure if he came because he was strangely drawn to him, angry at him because he felt like the guy did something weird to him, or because he was genuinely just curious who this man was. I mean, everyone had a background, even just a little, but this person had literally nothing on him.
"Hey bud, your pianist, what do you know about him?" Teran decided to ask his friend since he had already caught on. "Like, where is he from? His family? Age? Things like that."
"Digging up on your boyfriend, mmmh...messy." Michael teased further, but once he saw his irritated friend, he stopped quickly. "I actually know nothing about him. He keeps to himself. Never says much." He continued. "He's a bit weird, he came here not knowing how to speak just a few weeks back, and now he almost has the whole language figured out, it's crazy, I think he's one of those rare geniuses, you know, like Einstein."
"Get to the point," Teran said, a little harshly at his friend.
"Anyway, I know nothing about him. I tried to find out more by asking for his banking information for payments, but he didn't even seem to understand and asked me to pay him in cash." As Michael explained to his friend, he realized how the person who worked for him was a complete mystery, something he overlooked on a daily basis. "Shit, I don't even know his second name," Michael said, a little embarrassed.
"Well, you were a great help, thanks." Teran tapped Michael on the shoulder before walking off. Only one person could provide answers, so he decided to go talk to him. And as if he saw him coming, Rawanak started walking off towards the lift at the far end of the building. Teran couldn't lose him, so he hastened his steps, but Rawanak was already in. He was determined, so he decided to use the stairs that he didn't even notice how many there were as he quickly made his way up to the uppermost floor, where the penthouse was.
He remembered Michael ranting about how Rawanak demanded a better place since he didn't have to pay him much. 'At least I was listening that day.' He thought to himself as he knocked on the heavy door. There was no response, but he kept knocking even louder, he couldn't give up this time.
Rawanak, who now stood near the door, hoped Teran would leave if he ignored him long enough, but he just kept on knocking. A sound that irritated him so much, he just ended up opening the door, letting in an angry Teran. You could see it in his eyes how mad he was, and Rawanak knew this human wouldn't let him off easy this time. Teran walked in slowly, scanning the place, not saying anything to the man who now stared at him.
"Nice place you got here," Teran mentioned disinterestedly. "So, how do you want to do this? We can sit and chat like gentlemen." He paused, then shot Rawanak a death glare. "Or I could just ask you questions, and you answer." A scary smile dangled on Teran's lips as he walked closer to Rawanak, who stepped further back until his back hit the wall behind him.
"Are you scared? Why are you scared? Did you do something bad?" Teran asked in a mocking tone as he smirked lightly at the blue-haired guy. He tilted his head slightly to the side and stared Rawanak up and down before asking him who he was. The sea god didn't answer, but instead he just stared at Teran with a smirk on his face, like he didn't even care. This irritated Teran so much that he felt the anger boil in him more than it already was.
"I asked who you are? Why can't I find anything on you?" Teran insisted, trying to calm himself down. What Rawanak said next caught him completely off guard.
"Do you dream of me a lot?" Rawanak said with that same damn smirk, looking Teran straight in the eyes. He saw the puzzled look on the human's face, and he knew he had hit a nerve. Of course, Rawanak knew the effects of the song, so he just did this to avoid any further questions from Teran because he couldn't answer them.
Teran, who was now inches apart from Rawanak, closed the gap between them as he held the guy's shirt in his hands, yanking him closer. "Are you trying to pick a fight with me?" Teran gritted his teeth in annoyance and pushed the man against the wall before punching him on his face, an action that didn't seem to shock the blue-haired guy even a little. Instead, he held his hit jaw and chuckled silently, but enough for Teran to hear.
Teran's mind was completely clouded by the emotions he felt swirling in him. He had been going crazy for the past few weeks, and he didn't understand why. Even though he liked the guy, it wasn't supposed to feel like this, he just wanted to know what was going on inside of him. He stepped closer to Rawanak and threw his fists at him repeatedly, hoping to ease the torment within. He didn't know how long he had been going for, but when his head cleared a little, all he saw was a bleeding Rawanak sitting on the floor with barely open eyes.
The red liquid oozed from both his nose and mouth, he looked like a bloody mess. Teran leaned in such that their faces were only inches apart before cupping his hand around his left cheek. "Please tell me something, anything." Teran's voice trailed off in the now quiet room. "I just want to know what's happening to me." His voice broke a little as he stared at Rawanak with somewhat pleading eyes.
Rawanak barely managed to open his eyes fully, catching sight of the man he adored in complete shambles. He hated himself for putting him in this situation, and he wished he could do something about it, but as long as they were apart, Teran's situation would only get worse before getting better. Only time could slowly erase the effects the song was having on him. He didn't know how much time, maybe weeks or months, but it would slowly wear off. But he couldn't tell Teran this, it would just upset and confuse him further.
Rawanak held out his hand and cupped Teran's cheek as if to apologize for what he was going through. He looked into his eyes that were slightly watery, but Teran held back since he wouldn't dare cry in front of the guy. "Don't look for me, it will only get worse for you. But don't worry, it's not permanent." He leaned in and moved his thumb slightly, then grazed his lips at the corner of Teran's mouth, leaving a blood stain on his face. He tried wiping it off with his thumb, but he only made it worse, so he just let it be. Teran's body shuddered at the gesture, and he barely kept his composure. It was evident how flustered he was, and Rawanak definitely clocked it, making him smile a little, even if he felt pain all over his face.
"What's not permanent?" Teran asked, confused, still kneeling in the same position. "Why are you so cryptic? It's not cute." Teran continued in a low voice.
"I wasn't trying to be cute. But if you want me to, I will." He paused before leaning into Teran's ear. "Do you want more?" Rawanak's quiet groan sent a chill down his spine. Teran knew what he was insinuating, so he quickly pushed off the guy and stood up. He walked towards the door before looking back at Rawanak. "We're not done." It was the last thing he said before letting himself out, leaving a bleeding Rawanak on the floor.
