Edge of The Great Forest
as I stand there, the gate shut and locked behind me, no going back that way, I look at giant the sea of rainbow trees, of all magical alinements, they are all hundreds of meters tall but in the centre I see one a few kilometres tall, dwarfing the others, ‘it looks to predate the godfall, I might be a dryad, it might help me I should go there, it should take two days by foot’, I step forward in the tree’s direction, into this leafy abyss, <CRUNCH> I look down in surprise, to see… I’m stepping on the dead leaves ‘maybe I should be a more careful, don’t want attract any unwanted attention’, I warn myself, I don’t know what’s out there, no one ever leaves the village, so we don’t know about the outside world, I take another step, slowly this time careful not to step on the scattered sticks & leaves, that cover the forest floor,
- after walking for an hour –
‘these trees are aloooot bigger then at the forest’s edge’ I notice, I approach a water aligned tree, its leaves shift between a blue and an aqua colour, and I press my hand against it I and i concentrate slowly I start to fell the mana circulating through it, this tree is strong, I glance around these trees seem sturdy enough, look back at the water tree I’m still touching, I remove my hand and step forward, so I’m all but hugging the tree, I grab a low lying branch and stick my foot in a indent in the trunk and procced to climb up the tree, about a metre, and I start climbing across the trees,
- after climbing from tree to tree for 3 hours –
<GRRRAAWWW> ,my stomach starts to rumble, I stop and sit down on my current branch, by back leaning against the tree trunk, I cast light – based divination – time watch, 16 hours since dawn, I ate at 6 hours past, its been ten hours since I ate, I’m going to need food soon, I remember an emergency technique that father taught me, I climb down from the tree, I continue, slowly, as no to tire myself, until I come across a water element aligned tree, step so that I am a foot away from the trunk then, I put my hand against it, and take a breath to clear my head, slowly I exhale, I begin to feel this trees mana, just like the last one, this time I slowly draw some of its mana into me, after ~ 30 seconds, <GROOO>, immediately stop, the tree is done, any more would start to harm it, “dneth kai” I thank the trees, in their language, <kaiw luvyapu>, It responds, I continue on like this, for a while stopping every ~ 10 min at a water aligned tree to absorb some mana
- Two hours later -
After having been in the forest for 6 hours I spot the first creature, I’ve never seen any before, this one is white, it has two long hind legs that sort of fold under its self, and a long body and two small arms at front of It’s body and a small round head, adorned by two long triangular ears and a small horn upon it’s fore head, I cast wind – based; sound nullification, no longer able to be heard I stalk up behind the creature, and cast, water – based; aqua creation, and a small ball of water appears above my left hand, I touch it and slowly flow more of my mana into it, in response it starts to expand, after giving the ball half of my mana, it has swelled in a size slightly larger than the creature Infront of me, I hurl the spell at the creature capturing it, inside of my spell the creature thrashes and flails but after 15 minutes the creature finally stops moving, ~ another minute I dispel the ball and creature flops down dead, I approach it’s carcass, ‘this is the first time I’ve see a dead body’, I realise, I stand there for a while, unsure of what to do, I’ve never prepared an animal before, I could cook it but due to my water affinity, I can’t use fire magic, and the sun is long since set, so all my light magic is good for I a crappy torch and some crappy party tricks, father taught me a method of using a rock but it’s dark and I cant see anything, I guess I don’t have any choice, I cast, earth – based; growth, from a nearby tree a small stick begins to shoot up, I focus my mana on the tip and in response the tip grows at a faster rate than the rest, at that point I stop, creation spells are very consuming, and its used a quarter of my mana, combined with the water spell, I’m an down to just a quarter, not good, ‘but just enough, maybe’, I snap off the impromptu spear head, and turn back to my creature, I stab it’s neck to drain it’s blood, after a while I inspect my hunt, its raw, but I’ll have to deal with that, I cast, light – based; purification, it’s night time, there is no light, this usually simple spell, drains the rest of my mana immediately, I fall down, I’m now laying coved in the creature’s blood, and dirt, I crawl to a tree and position my myself so I’m sitting again the tree, my head hurts it’s like my brain is pounding against my skull, the world is spinning, every thing has gone blurry. I hold up the corpse in my left hand, I can see it clearly but I need to eat, I slice it along, what I think is its chest, I try to peel back it’s (formerly) white fur, and I take a bite at the flesh in side, it’s horrible its tastes like nothing but blood, and I can barely chew it, I makes me want to puke and I do, without any mana, I’m exhausted, so in the end I pass out,
