Frenley arrives at the wolf as he swings his sword at its leg. Trying to open the wound again, not that it is frozen over. His sword crashed against the ice armor, sending the strength of the attack up his arm. Frenley took a couple of steps back to dodge the claw attack of the wolf. Frenley felt his breath becoming colder and colder; the only thing keeping him warm was the thrill of battle.
Mia reached the wolf as it finished its attack on Frenley. She swung her hammer and hit the side of the wolf. Breaking a piece of the ice armor that had formed around it. The wolf turns as it tries to bite Mia's arm right off. But she pushed her shield into its mouth. Stopping it from getting close and its bite. Shadow spears grew from the ground and pierced the side of the wolf that had its ice armor damaged. Frenley ran underneath the wolf and reached the weakened armor. The wolf, sensing danger, let go of the shield, giving Mia the opportunity to shied bash the side of its nose.
The wolf howls in pain as fresh red blood slips out of its snout. Frenley turns around and shoots a two-season bolt at the crack in the armor. The spell crashes against the armor, exploding and sending chunks of ice flying. Frenley rushed in as he enchanted his weapon with magic. Jumping like a loaded spring, he pushed his weapon into the newly exposed fur and flesh of the wolf.
The wolf howls in pain as it starts to jump and shake its body to get Frenley off. But no matter what it did, Frenley didn't give up; he pushed his sword to the limit, till the hilt met the soft flesh and fur of the winter wolf. The wolf at the ends of its robes, with its insides cooking and blood flowing from the wound. Crash into the side where Frenley was against the wall. Frenley couldn't respond in time as his back crashed against the cold wall of the cave.
His bones crack, and air leaves his lungs as he tightens his grip on the sword. The wolf pulled back and prepared itself to crash Frenley against the wall once more. But thankfully, the man was not by himself. Risa summons her shadow spears again, breaking apart the armor on one of the legs, the most wounded one. The armor broke apart like it was nothing, allowing Mia to come in and deliver a devastating attack on the leg.
The bone twisted at a weird angle, and the wolf howled in anger and pain as it lost its balance and fell onto its belly. Frenley breathed a sigh of relief as his feet touched the ground and he pulled the sword out with strength. Drawing out a river of blood that flows out of the wolf, the sword, long having lost its magical enchantment. The wolf tries to slowly stand up, but Mia smashes its head in with her hammer.
The winter wolf falls down on the floor once more, blood flowing out of its ears and eyes. A soft yelp of pain and pleading left its lips. Mia and Risa look uncertain as they saw the wolf. Thinking maybe they didn't have to do this, but Frenley had no such thoughts. He drove his sword into the neck of the wolf, breaking the weak armor, and blood spilled out as Fren pulled the sword upwards. Cutting the flesh.
Life slowly left the wolf as Frenley swung his sword down and cut the head clean from the body. The head rolled off, leaving behind a trail of silky smooth red blood. The group sighs softly, looking at the gruesome scene.
“That sucks..I quite like dogs.” Frenley said as he swung his sword into a half circle, causing the blood that sat on it to fly out and draw a crescent moon around him.
“Yeah, same here.. let's get ou-” Mia turned around as she spoke, but she stopped. For the walls of fire were still there.
“Fuck it is not dead!”
The tall woman screamed, sending the party into a high alert. Frenley and Mia rushed away from the corpses. Close together and weapons at the ready. Risa drinks one of her magic potions as her eyes look at the dead wolf. The room grew colder and colder as something inside the wolf began to move. Soon, arms pushed out of the wolf's body. As something pulled itself out.
A dead, pale woman emerged, wearing a beautifully crafted suit of armor of ice and blood. Her long silver hair flowed downwards, spider webs combed together to resemble human hair. Her eyes were ice cold, breath taken away by the temperature behind them. The woman's long, pointy ears poke through her helmet as she steps off the wolf's body. The woman looked at them as she spoke.
“Thank you for freeing me from the curse of stolen flesh.”
The woman breathes in, and she feels almost human. Till the cave shook and the top part blew apart. Rock started to fall around them, the arena slowly changing as ice and rock mixed together. The bright moon casts its light down on them, and the soft silver rays fall on the woman. She basks in their light for a few seconds, eyes closed.
The trio let the silence consume them. Hearts beating against ribs. The fey woman turned to face them as she opened her eyes. Gone was the coldness of it; she raised her right hand as she conjured a large sword of ice. She grabbed the handle and raised the sword with one hand.
“But I cannot let you leave, suffer not the sinner to live”
The fey woman rushed towards Mia and Frenley. Mia readies herself as she blocks the attack with her shield. Frenley took a step back before he activated his invisibility. Frenley rushed from behind Mia, applying his sinful fire buff and coating his sword in magic. Mia grinds her teeth as she tries to hold against the fey woman's strength. The sword's ice slowly spreads into her shield; the cold hits her hand, causing frostbite.
Frenley appears behind the ice woman as he swings his sword to her side. The sword crashed against the ice armor, causing his arms to shake. But soft cracks appear on the armor. The woman turns around and delivers a kick right to Fren's chest. Sending the man flying and without air in his lungs. Risa summoned her shadow spears to attack the woman, but her shadow was much smaller. Allowing her to easily side-step the shadow spears and causing Risa to waste her mind.
Mia charged the woman as she attacked the place where the armor was wounded. The attack hit true as part of the armor shattered. The ice woman opens her hand as she grabs Mia’s head. Mia's eyes go wide as she tries to pull away from the woman's grip. But she could not. Frenley swings his sword at the woman's outstretched hand. The blade hits the soft armor of her wrist. The magical enchantment on his sword is gone.
The blade breaks the soft armor and cuts into the white skin. The hand leaves the wrist, but the grip on Mia’s face never drops. Risa and Frenley looked at Mia in horror as the hand slowly froze the tall woman's face. Frenley tried to pull the hand off Mia, but his eye caught the sight of a large sword coming his way. He turns around as he defends himself with his sword. It was then that he noticed, as sparks flew and his arms screamed in pain. That the woman was not bleeding. She looks the same as ever.
Fren took a couple of steps back as he saw two magic shards come flying towards the woman. The magic shards broke into the armor, leaving behind but a small crack on it. Frenley was slowly being pushed back till he was no longer. He felt coldness overtake him. He looked down to see that his legs were frozen, the woman touching him with her feet. He then looked back at Mia and saw that her head was fully frozen. The severed hand grew in size, wrapping fully around Mia’s head and squishing it like it was a rotten fruit.
Fresh pieces of blood and of Mia's head flew out, some landing on his body, adding more to Frenley's growing horror. The hand returns to normal as it flies back to the ice woman, reattaching itself to her body. Frenley's eyes go wide as the hand grabs his face, and his vision goes black. The last thing he felt was coldness and death.
—
Frenley woke up, but not like he expected. He was back in the same ice arena, the ice woman in front of him. The wolf corpse was long gone, and what now replaced it was a throne of ice. Frenley looked around. Mia was alive, equally confused. Risa is much the same. The trio looked at each other before looking at the ice woman.
“Fuck we should have used the ability before the fight…” Frenley couldn't help but curse their arrogance that the winter wolf was not gonna have a second phase.
“Oh, you are awake and normal. Guess it will take a couple of deaths for you to repent.”
The woman rose from her ice throne and summoned her greatsword of ice. Frenley shook his head and looked at the girls. Their eyes were also fierce as he and Mia charged the ice woman once more. Mia blocked once more a sword attack from the woman’s sword. Frenley looked over his stats and noticed something very concerning: his mind, soul, and potions are the same amount as when he died. That caused him to lose focus for a second and his eyes to go wide.
“We haven't reset-”
His words were cut short as he dodged backward to stop himself from touching the ice woman's extended foot. He drank his magic potion as he landed.
“FUCK ME IN THE ASS!”
Risa said as she sent a magic shard to hit the woman, but it did nothing but make a small crack in her armor. Frenley rushed forward, aiming his attack at the point where the armor was thinnest. As his sword cuts into the woman's waist, the armor around it shatters. His sword digs into the woman's pale skin, but again, no blood flows. Frenley clicks his tongue as he dodges backward to not get hit by a side kick of the ice woman. A kick that makes no sense, anatomy-wise.
She may look like a fey, but she was not moving or behaving as if she were truly alive. Something started to click in Frenley's mind as he charged the woman. Mia was kicked away by the ice woman, sending her flying a few feet back. Frenley channeled his magic into his left hand as he reached out for the extended leg of the ice woman.
He felt the ice magic pierce his skin, trying to freeze him from the inside. But he didn't care about that as he cast a season bolt at point-blank range. Season bolt, as far as Frenley knew, only had two effects. Freezing and Fire. While fighting the wolf, the ice did nothing, but the fire was more aggressive than normal.
The ice woman felt something was wrong as she punched Frenley on top of his head. Shattering his skull and letting his red blood flow out. But thankfully, his magic fire went out, and an explosion happened as his hand was blown to pieces. But as his eyes go dark, he saw it, the melting skin of the ice woman and the soft sound of pain. Her skin secreted water drops, and that was all the confirmation Frenley needed, as his eyesight turned black and death consumed him.
He wakes up again, the party alive as if nothing had happened. But time was moving, the moon had slowly moved, and they only had a couple of hours of moonlight left. Gods know what will happen if they don't kill the ice woman before sunrise.
‘You dont want to know’
With Ailice words, the tone for the fight was set.
