The sky sang today; its tears ran down on the city below it. Washing away the blood of death and life. Her tears flooded the streets and corners. The puddles of tears and blood became startled by the dancing of death. Instruments enchanted the sky’s cries and words. The sound of drums as bodies hit the floor, heads shatter like ice, and bones crack. The whisper of final breaths. The beating of hearts that will never beat again. The warmth that will never be shared, the knowledge that will never be shared.
Frenley breathes out heavily as he looks at the last corpse. He lets the thunder ring behind him, its flash of light illuminating the macabre scene. The street was flooded, and dirty, bloody water reached his ankles. Frenley's sword dripped with fresh blood, and chunks of bloody ice floated on the frozen street. Thunder illuminated the world once more. The cries of the sky grew, its tears coating the world.
Frenley turned around, his hair a mess, sticking to his face like spider webs. His clothes clung to his body like a tight bodysuit. The girls weren't any better. Mia leaned on the ice greatsword. Her chest moved up and down; each breath she took was short and rapid. Her hair stuck to her face. Her armor was a mess, bloody, with chunks of human parts stuck to it. Risa had both hands on her hips, head to the sky as she breathed, letting the tears of the sky drop on her face. Her silver hair stuck to her body; her clothes, much like Frens', stuck to her body.
Highlighting the girl's great curves, the wolves were nowhere to be seen, long dead . But Frenley has no chance to focus on her body, for this was not the place to do so. Frenley felt his hands and arms shake, his muscles screaming at him, his eyes out of focus. Only for when he came back to focus, for a dead soldier's frozen head to float by him. Its face twisted in terror and pain. Always to be remembered like that, as the water current drags it away.
Frenley didn't know whether it was tears or water running down his face. Gathering air, he stood up, proud, strong, letting the thunder flash again and illuminating the figure that awaited them. At the end of the street, there was a large plaza, and in front of that plaza was a figure. A knight riding a horse. His armor was pure black, a piece of the night sky given form. His helmet plume was wet and stuck to the armor, but that didn't wash away its bright colors.
The figure started to guide its horse forward, and with each step the beast took, the bigger it got. The group got closer together. Their breaths ragged, hearts beating with barrow strength. Eyes unfocused, and lungs strained.
“I got only four soul left, no potions, and one mind.” Spoke the fey as he tightened his grip on his sword, trying to keep his hand from slipping as more rain got on him.
“Four minds, one of each potion left.” The kitsune said. The fur of her ears and tails was wet and droopy.
“One mind, one health, and one magic potion,” Mia said as she rolled her shoulders; her grip tightened on her sword as the figure stopped a few feet away from them.
The horse puffed out smoke, its red eyes shining. The armored knight looked down on them, with a large halberd in his right hand that rivaled the weight and size of Mia’s sword.
“Well done, heretics.” The man’s voice was condescending, full of authority, and the smugness that he would win. “Not many could kill so many of my soldiers as you have. Truly, that deserves some praise, but alas. Your effort will be for nothing. For you will die here, and I will bring my soldiers back to life.”
The horse stamps its hoof on the ground, splashing dirty water.
“This will be the end of your journey, heretics. As my holy mission entrusted to me by the Lord Warden, this city will be brought back into compliance, and you three are pushing things off schedule.”
The man swings his halberd around and lets the heavy head of it crash on the street below him. The trio stays quiet; only the sound of falling rain and heavy breathing could be heard. Frenley closed his eyes for a second, letting the fresh cold air of midnight rain enter him. He opened his eyes as he looked at the commander.
“Our journey has just started; this won't be the end. We won't rest till the Sun King is dead.” The fey words echo true in the hearts of the only living beings in this street.
“We shall rise again, anew , to banish the madness of this kingdom,” Mia said, her eyes sharp as she swung her sword and took a stance.
“Let the moon look at us and guide our strike true.” The sky opened up as the last raindrops fell on the ground. The moon shines anew, its warmth pale light enveloping those beneath it. Risa aimed the head of her staff at the commander as she spoke her final words. “Bring me his head!”
Frenley and Mia rush like bloodthirsty hounds; the commander strikes the sides of his horse with his boots. Causing the horse to rush at the couple. Mia raised her greatsword and swung it with all of her strength at the coming halberd. The crash sends sparks flying and strains Mia’s muscles even more.
Frenley appeared on top of the horse, and a cold shockwave spread at the point of impact. Slowing the horse's movement somewhat. Frenley pushed his sword down as he struck the horse. The beast stops on its tracks, blood spilling from the wound. Frenley pushed the sword down more, till it pierced the horse's spine and caused it to fall down. But as the horse falls, the commander hits Frenley on the face with the back of its elbow. Pushing the fey off the horse.
Frenley falls to the ground, water splashing, his hand pushed against the mushy corpse of a soldier. Blood ran down Frenley's face, his nose broken. The commander gets off his horse as he strikes the screeching beast down. Cutting its head clean off. The man grabbed the horse's head by its mane and threw it over to Risa. This caused the kitsune to take a step back as the horse's dead eye stared at her.
“Here you go, witch, the only head you will be getting tonight.”
The commander rushed the stun Risa, aiming his halberd down to take her pretty head clean off her shoulder. But Mia appeared in an instant in front of Risa, and the tall woman blocked the attack with the body of her greatsword. A groan left the woman's lips as she was pushed backward by the strength of the attack. Her arms were screaming in pain as her muscles broke. Blood oozed from the corner of her lips.
Risa took a step back as she shot a magic shard at the commander. The magic didn't travel fast as it hit the man on his heavy metal chest. The commander kicked one of Mia's legs, causing the woman to buckle and fall to one knee as the man readied himself to strike the woman down with his fist. Risa hits the butt of her staff on the ground, as her shadow spears attack the man's outstretched arm.
The man narrows his eyes as he takes a step back, a mistake as Frenley's invisibility drops. Frenley, with magic enchanting his sword, swings with all of his strength at the neck of the man. But the commander was faster, moving its halberd in such a way that it was inhumane. Frenley's sword crashed against the metal body of the halberd. His arms shook as the commander took a couple of steps back. Any ice that his halberd had broken as the man swung the weapon around.
Frenley spins his sword in his hand as he rushes behind Mia. Risa, from behind them, drank her last magic potion. Mia clashes with the commander. Sparks fly as she swings her sword with all of her strength and pushes the halberd up. Frenley appeared next to his girlfriend, aiming his left hand at the weak joint of the armor. The area where the hip connects to the leg. The ice shard flew with record speed and pierced the weak armor and flesh.
No blood was drawn from the attack, but the slow ice magic had seeped into the skin and muscles of the commander. Mia charged again as the commander swung his halberd down again. Sword and halberd clash as sparks fly again. Mia holds off the attack as much as she can while Frenley rushes to the commander's side. Swinging his magicless enchanted sword where the ice shard pierced. The commander pulled back, causing Frenley's attack to miss, before the butt of the halberd hit the fey on the head and sent him flying.
Mia tried to rush in, but the commander kept her at a distance with the blunt end of his halberd. From behind her, Risa shot two magic shards at the commander. The boss swung his halberd around, breaking the magic shards with ease. Mia takes this chance to drink her magic potion before doing a forward strike with her great sword. Of course, such an easy strike is easily blocked by the commander. Frenley joins the front lines again, blood rushing down from his nose, and his cheek swollen and purple.
The commander blocked the attack that came from the nimble fey. Mia attacked the commander while he was occupied, her sword hitting the side of his leg. Causing him to groan and his leg to move a bit. The commander let his halberd slip a bit, grabbing it higher up. He pushed the couple away from him as he spun his halberd around, picking up water and wind.
Frenley rushed to the side as Mia charged again. Mia swung her sword, but it was easily blocked by the commander's halberd. The commander didn't focus much on Mia as his eyes were on the running fey. But that second of distraction cost him as Risa cast shadow entrapment twice. One on each side of the commander. The commander dodges backward, the shadow spears scratching the edges of his leg armor.
The commander couldn't focus as he felt an attack coming from behind him, followed by the sound of water moving. He turned around and blocked the greatsword strike. From beneath his helmet, the commander raised an eyebrow before pain entered his brain. Frenley, using Mia's strike as a distraction, struck from beneath her and dug his sword deep into the commander's guts. His sword was under his black armor.
Frenley screamed as he pulled his sword to the side, cutting the flesh and muscles alike as the commander's organs fell out like trap snakes. Blood painted the water beneath them. The commander took a step back, holding his spilling organs. Mia used this change to push the halberd away as she cut one of his legs clean off. The commander fell to one knee as blood left him.
“How... this shouldn't be possible. I am Commander Ilwin! I cannot be done by a bunch of sinful heretics! YOU BITCHES-”
The man could not finish his sentence as shadow spears enveloped his head. Peering through the helmet and the head hiding under it. Fresh red blood ran down the shadow spears for a bit before they disappeared, and the lifeless commander fell down face-first into the water. Risa spun her staff around, brushing her hair off her face. Letting water run down her enchanting face.
'Main Boss defeated, level up available'
“I ain't nobody's bitch.”
Mia and Frenley looked at the kitsune with wide eyes.
“Not even for me?” Mia said, heartbroken, eyes like puppies, as tears accumulated at the corners of her eyes. Risa raised an eyebrow at the crying woman.
“That ain't gonna work on me.”
“Fuck... worth the shoot.”
Frenley laughed at the stupidity of the situation, arms holding his side.
