I believe conscience is your feeling of right and wrong. I believe there are people who do not have a strong conscience or have none at all. In addition a conscience also allows you a conscience also allows someone to feel and give love it is called empathy. from the moment of birth you have empathy. the fact is as a child your conscience is fragile so your empathy is too. as you grow your empathy will be attacked it will chip and fall apart. the good thing is that this fragile empathy may heal although it will still have a scar. in addition everyone is born with a diffrent amount of conscience, some might be more fragile while others firm. once you reach about 18 your empathy begins to harden making a moral code that cannot be easily broken. 18 is also the earliest age you doctors can soundly diagnose aspd
I believe what you consume through your senses (eyes, ears, touch, taste) can also damage your conscience. if you enjoy horror movies which hold a lot of violence you may be unconsciously voluntarily chipping at your conscience. as I said earlier what you consume through your senses can damage the conscience, this also includes your surroundings if you see people steal or you are stealing yourself unless you are above 18 you're damaging your conscience and in turn your empathy.
Do the ends justify the means. NO this would be morally unacceptable to do a wrong is to do a wrong there is no other way to put it. even if the ends are good you can not forget how much evil has been caused.
I believe conscience is your feeling of right and wrong. I believe there are people who do not have a strong conscience or have none at all.
True. I don't differentiate between right and wrong. Just right and left.
sure some peoples conscience has been crooked so it operates differently than other and also has a weaker influence on the mind.
I believe conscience is your feeling of right and wrong.
Pretty sure it is more accurately defined as the voice in one's head that argues for the morality, and immorality of an issue or decision
i believe one is born without a conscience. one is taught right and wrong through reward and punishment.
children don't know bullying is wrong, but learn it is wrong once they understand the consequences, pain for the person they bullied and punishment from their parents.
when a child sees someone being bullied. their conscience which allows them to feel empathy kicks in and lets them understand the emotion of the victim they know it's wrong but since humans want to fit in they will do nothing. In addition it is the punishment that allows the bullying to continue.
My question:
- Is the conscience a development of evolutionary?
- How has conscience transformed from the past to today? (How conscience today differ from the past)
- Does morals and/or laws impact conscience?
- With the advance of technology, how will it affect conscience?
- Why do we have conscience? What is its purpose?
1. evolution played a large role because people with a conscience are more liked and trust worthy thus you will not be kicked from the group if you follow its laws and are to an extent kind.
2. conscience today has become more lax due to the prevalence of negative influences on children. the effects of this will be seen in the future as i predict a surge in violent crimes to increase in the coming years.
3. you are born with a conscience this only means you know good and bad. as you grow older you can impact your conscience to create a set of moral guidelines you will see yourself unconsciously follow.
4. technology does not have a true negative impact on conscience but it's main drawback is it allows children to view things that do hold a negative impact on their conscience.
5. a conscience is made to provide boundaries, allow you to understand what you fear, and to increase your chances of survival.
