My breathing gets noticeably louder... my little body feels stiff... I'm uneasy... I need to keep calm... my chest is still tight... but I don't know where I am anymore.

I can't see anything familiar around myself at the moment, just where in the world did I end up running off to? I'm so full of regret now.

I sniffed at the floor but I don't think I'll be able to follow my own scent back, I ran too fast to leave any traces. I don't even see my own tracks on the floor...

Since I just got myself lost... I should probably just continue... but get some food first...

Creating water with some focus, I make a little orb of floating water and lick away at it until I'm quenched.(edited)

Now for food, I may as well just continue on my way... I resolve myself to continue forward and not try backtracking.

I feel a bit expectant and hopeful... I want to find people... I think I can become a pet since I'm a little fox...

I am about the size of a rabbit. And I don't need to eat a lot fortunately.

The nuts I usually find are fortunately all around the place. Taking one, I get near a tree and peel off the shell in a hurry trying to fill my tummy and save time.

It took a while but I hurried on since I don't want to continue taking too much eating but I found a convenient berry bush and slowly approached it and started eating a few.

I'm not completely alone, but for the most part it's just other small animals similar in size to me going about their business.

Of course, they do avoid me instinctively out of fear, I suppose I'm possibly a predator to them even if we're about the same size.

It's pointless to try interacting with them. Plus giving them food would make them depend on me and they would get lazier.

Rather than feeding these animals, I want to be fed by humans.

I'm not too scared now anymore, but I wonder if I will be fortunate enough to encounter anyone any time soon.

I still have to be careful even if I encounter one... I don't want to be mistaken as a source of game...

How would I approach a human safely?...

I tried to think about an approach while also continuing now that I had my fill from finishing a few berries. I ate a bit more than usual so that I can go on longer.

It didn't take too long before I noticed a new scent.

This new scent didn't belong to any animal I've encountered before. Who have I found?...

I started to follow the scent for now since I didn't really know what else to do for now.

Sniffing, it wasn't too hard to track it down... but the smell wasn't good... and I found out why soon after before having a chance to change my mind.

I found goblins!... little green demons standing taller than me by at least thrice my size!(edited)

And they noticed me, I'm their target, so I started to immediately book it and run.

I frantically had to run, but not in a straight path, but zigzag for a bit, the reason being: they were throwing rocks at me!...(edited)

I'm fortunate that I'm faster than them, if they were just as fast as me yet can still throw rocks I might get injured and be caught!

I don't want to become food! I am not game! Darn goblins!...

My memory doesn't include of goblins throwing rocks at all, but this is absurdly scary!

I think I got far enough away to just run now so I stopped using trees as cover and tries to just get as much distance as possible for now.

I got away... they must have gave up pursuit to retrieve their thrown rocks.

I pant a bit fatigued from running quite a bit and keep moving at a pace I can catch my breath.

It's still bright... but might be getting late...

I hurry to a random tree, circle around it, then begin making a burrow quickly.

It got darker by the time I finished a hastily made burrow.

There's no emergency exit but I don't have time to make a better burrow...

I bring back some of the dirt to partially cover up the entrance about half way and then dive through the dirt into my burrow.

Finally done for today, I use magic to drink some water before curling up and sleeping lightly.

I woke up as I heard something approach the entrance of my burrow...

I think it's a bigger animal of some kind. Maybe a wolf?

Whatever it is, I can hear it sniffing the entrance.

I silently wait without making a sound.

I hear dirt being moved, so it's trying to dig me out...

I'm getting anxious, is it really desperate to get me?...

It suddenly stopped trying.

I think it gave up for now. It's probably still nearby but fixing the entrance is pointless.

I go back to sleep while still cautious.

I get woken up again as I smell blood faintly.

I assume the goblins are fighting the wolves... the goblins most likely loss.

Again, I try to sleep and this time stop getting disturbed.

Waking up, I first summon an orb of water and lick it away to drink before I head out of my burrow slowly.

Taking another look around I can see rocks and stains of blood.

A fight definitely took place nearby where I stayed. I should get going.

I leave the vicinity taking a random direction while paying closer attention to scents this time.

I don't have to worry too much about a wolf as I can just run and climb up a tree, but those goblins would likely try throwing rocks at me instead.(edited)

They probably can also climb a tree if I think more about bit, definitely a group I need to run from.

A bit familiar with their scent this time around I avoid both paths taken recently by either wolves or goblins...

I'm getting a bit hungry but this area is much more dangerous than my comfortable territory.

Goblins really are that much more of a threat to me than wolves are.

Now let's continue!... and look for something to eat while at it.

I scurry through the forest some more and realize it's quite large. I must've lived deeper inside I guess. Though there's the chance I'm heading deeper instead.

I can't tell... the density of trees doesn't really change. Just where am I?

I start to doubt if humans exist and get a bit sad. It should be unfortunate if there are no humans nearby.

I debate on whether I should make a new home or keep covering distance.

I'm about to approach some berries but I feel the presence of something nearby.

I hurry into the shrubbery to avoid being seen but it seems the rustling has given away my locations.

I hear the goblins saying something incomprehensible to me as they hurry to the shrub I'm hiding in.

Ugh... I turn and try quickly taking a bit of a berry before running.

I guess I can't properly eat yet for now. I thought some goblins were already hunted nearby.

There must be quite a number of goblins, how scary...

I got away again easily as they didn't pursue me as hard but I'm getting annoyed by my hunger.

I find an acorn and try peeling off the shell like a squirrel.

I immediately stop as the goblins seem to be heading the direction I had run in and followed me.

Darn it, there goes my effort gone to waste. I didn't even peel off half of the shell but I need to run.

Three goblins make noises as they excitedly start chasing me with rocks in hand.

I'm far enough fortunately so they don't bother trying to throw their rocks.

I get my distance but I keep moving even after slowing down as I fear the goblins are still chasing me.

I can't find any convenient berry bushes to quickly eat from... how unfortunate I am.

I guess I wasn't ready to venture out yet.

I can't really even fight back, should I have tried learning fire magic?

I regret my choices back then now. I need a way to fight if I want to freely travel.

While idly thinking I suddenly get back on alert again.

I feel some kind of energy... nearby... gathering?...

I approached to see what was happening and saw nothing around.

A shadow started to take shape in front of my eyes... changing shape and color... and out of nowhere a goblin had appeared!...

I turn around and start immediately running away yet again. I'm not physically capable of fighting a single goblin either.

That must've been a monster spawn. Monsters coming out of literally thin air. That's absurd! My memories never included anything like that...

I guess that sensation was the mana or some energy manifesting in that area to form a creature...

I must have been similarly born that way but now isn't the time to think of that.

I'm getting tired... this is the 3rd time I started to flee...

I slow down and then rest near a tree for now to catch my breath as I lay on my belly.

I got to get some energy back but I'm even hungrier now compared to usual.

Getting back up, I walk around again scanning the area.

I drink some water with magic while moving on, but I feel uneasy and run up a tree.

I look around and saw a pair of wolves wandering around for now so I need to wait again. This time I'm resting on a tree trunk.

Goblins and wolves... too many threats here... it's a lot harder here. Why have I not seen goblins before? Have I been in deep wolven territory? Possibly so...

The two wolves noticed me and waste more of my time... darn it... stop circling around the tree and just go already.

I'm not going down there no matter how much you growl or bark.

They gave up a dozen or so minutes later looking for prey else where...

I look around again and went back down after the ground when it's safe.

I decided to find a nut before climbing a tree to peel and eat something akin to an acorn to replenish myself.

It would be no good to continue moving while hungry... so I took my time eating a bit more but nuts take really long...

I think that it hadn't been very much time since the previous, but I think I'll make another burrow already just to be safe...

This time in the middle of borrowing I heard something coming so I quickly dove into the incomplete burrow... and heard light footsteps passing by.

It sounded like goblins so I waited a bit before resuming my burrow operation and finished a decently deep enough burrow this time.

I drank water before getting ready to rest again and waited for the day to end.

I went to sleep lightly again, not as tense since I got to rest up significantly longer.

Nothing bothered me at night so I awoke earlier with more time to spare and set off once more.

It took a few hectic days for me to eventually and finally exit the forest.

I came across a new sight for my first time, a grassy plain with many grass covered hills colored in a different green than I am used to.
