-o Canonical interlude o-

___

More often than not, it unnerved Raven with how well the child emulates her in every way, not perfectly. But close enough that it's almost identical to those who don't know her.

After asking her for personal lessons. He had been adamant about fighting ever since Raven had taught him common knowledge. Surely there must have been a reason for his motivation.

Perhaps it was simple curiosity that would fade on time, perhaps it was the danger that left an impression in his head, or perhaps. Simply because she's his idol.

Regardless of what reasons he had hidden from her, it mattered not as she welcomes the enthusiasm with utmost ferocity.

Yet he never relents no matter what pain she induced, she'd been impressed of his determination and persistence to become the strongest.

Strong enough to dominate her in the marsh field, he said.

That made her snort in amusement, but with how talented her child in the ways of violence. She couldn't help but admit that in time, he could surpass her in a few years.

In their years of interaction, he managed to achieved a fine print inside of her, enough for them to [Bond] with her semblance. Her semblance, the manifestation of her soul pass him as something close to that she considers more of a kin.

A rare occurrence considering her 'Standards'.

If felt... refreshing, that someone actually understands her for being her, her views, ideal, along with the understanding of that universal fact. That 'The strong live and the weak dies', that he admired her wisdom and ask for her tutelage.

He may be a child, but the kid has more brain that that alcoholic brother of hers.

Unbothered and undeterred, the sweat and blood they gone through didn't go in vain as Wren's capability surpass her expectations.

Within the few years of interaction.

She couldn't help but entertain the idea of 'what if' she brought the other twin, and immediately crush that notion.

Tai and Summer could certainly provide her a good life, and the reason for the twin's separation is due to survival.

That if one of children perish. Then other could survive, Yang having to experience the semblance of normalcy is a great boon for her upbringing with the help of her former team.

Finding out that their lives matter not in the grand scheme, left a sour impression. And she didn't know what to do back then when her former team didn't listened, written as a nightmare and warning ignored. She gave up after months of convincing.

Highly unlikely they would even listen in the first place with how deep they are within the clutches of a madman.

Sending them to their inevitable death because of some centuries worth of lover's spat made her blood boils in anger, the revelation of someone's toying her life like some pawn in chess felt like a punch in the gut.

She long deemed her team's gullibility and stupidity a loss cause, if her twin brother trusted that madman more than her then so fine by her, she hoped that he'd later regret this decision so she could bathe in smugness. Now that she think in about it, why did she even left yang on their hands?

'Well...Too late for regrets.' She blankly states.

Anyway, back at the matter on hands.

As strange her child may be, she couldn't help but smile bitterly of his resilience and determination to achieve a fruitless endeavour.

Regardless of her stubbornness, even she knows the fine limits of boundaries such as Strength matters not in the face of the immortal witch, it stresses her to no end that anyone could strike them at any moments ever since she founds the depth of their nature.

Speaking of nature, she previously scrutinises and reluctantly admits that her child's lack of social cravings may become a problematic issue in the imminent future.

For all she knows, she's the only pillar of his life. And knowing him, her loss may bring inevitable mayhem and chronic depression towards him. As unlikely that is. she digresses.

Socializing wasn't her forte, but does he even needs it?
From her observations, Wren's mental fortitude seemed to be fine on its own and doesn't seem to have an issue regarding social cues.

Wren… had never been what anyone would call a normal boy even by her standards. He never converses nor bond with the others of the tribe, he considered everyone besides her as something unworthy of his time and acknowledgement lest you left an impression.

Strangely possessive and resourceful in some sense, accompanied with constant subtle-paranoia and threatening vibes around him. She can't help but inwardly approve of his instinctual approach. More evidence that he could carry the lineage of Branwen and how potent they were on his blood.

To her knowledge. Most if not, all of the tribesmen couldn't get a reaction out of him no matter how much they smothered, incite, etc out of him lest something hit a nail.
He never smiled. Nor did he frown. He never laughed nor did he cry. His expression was always blank, always watching, confused and intrigue. Always observing, as inquisitive is in his nature. Raven would catch now and then that the boy's attempts to emulate her with her stalwart yet cold visage, but it was clear in her eyes that the boy didn't understand any of it.

It was as though the boy doesn't have a shred of empathy.
He simply couldn't sympathise nor understood the deeper meaning of the actions itself. He definitely understood pain and consequences, but teaching him the values of feelings is a loss cause. Not that she had any problems with it, but being an empty machine of her imitation would definitely bite him in the ass.

It's like a painter painting an empty canvas covered by plastic covers that protects against the onslaught of kaleidoscope.

She supposed the ignorance of the child is something could be pass.

But masking his expression to lie against everyone and to himself just to enter their inner circle seemed to be a... futile endeavor, he might not view it as a weakness but anyone with a perceptive pair of eyes could see through his mask.

And those acts is just so vile and pathetic that watching alone hurts her eyes.
This tiresome charades of his greatly concern her for his wellbeing and mentality.

She may not be the best parental figure nor a professional psychiatrist, but she's perceptive enough to often perceive the emptiness of his eyes.

And his first kill cement her years of speculation.

The ability to mask and kill regardless of your feelings are skills that most killers, including her. Take many years to fully develop.

He had that skill from the very start, it's a hell of a gift. But, choosing his path base on his talents doesn't necessarily guarantee his happiness.

A first-hand experience and she fear for her child to suffer the same fate as she had, and she prefers him to at least have some small semblance of 'normality'. Earlier education and nurture might might talents, but it had any success in other fields.

She may be cold and heartless, but those only applied outside of her wellbeing and interest. It may be a huge contradiction considering their adventures but she already mark him as an interest.

At least she prevent him from falling in the hands of witch and wizard of old, that originated back in the Age of Gods.
Perhaps she'll visit her daughter later, after their meeting.

...

That said...

Wren always followed his mother. Perhaps this was why he had become what he now is. Perhaps he wanted to imitate the woman who birthed him and gave him a ticket away from the listless wander that is without purpose nor destination.

Ps : I'll be honest, this is the very first interlude I've ever made. Or something I put effort anyway...

Anyway.

I need some caffeine to finish the rest of my modules.
