Chapter 2: Encounter
Han Wuqing was cleaning the blood on the tip of the javelin, when a bright stone rolled onto her feet from the zombie's decapitated head
She picked it up and observed how the stone lacked any visible color, just being transparent, Han Wuqing had a general idea of what this stone was, but wanted to verify it with her system.
"Is this the zombie's crystal nucleus?"
System: [Host, you are correct, what you are holding is a crystal nuclues, and judging by the lack of color, this should be a rank one zombie's crystal nucleus]
Han Wuqing picked up on a specific point of what the system said "Does the color of the nucleus, represent what level of zombie it came from?"
System: [Yes, the nucleus are divided among different categories, depending on the level of zombies it came from, the non-color nucleus, like the one you currently have, are the most common type, being found on the weakest zombies' heads]
[The higher level nucleus are colorized, being brighter the higher level it is, and more powerful when used by the specific element power holder that its color represents, such as blue nucleus for water abilities, gray for abnormal abilities like spirit and gravity, and purple for thunder]
Recieving the analysis from the system, Han Wuqing safetly tucked the crystal nucleus within one of her pockets
Although she herself currently didn't have any powers, this crystal nucleus can still be used in the future if she awakens, or for trade in any of the bases with other survivors.
Han Wuqing glanced back at the decapitated head of the zombie with a thought
'so people turn into this creature'
If possible, she wanted a world that didn't have any of these disgusting creatures, like her previous peaceful worlds.
If one day she would become one of them, it would be better to abandon the mission instead of seeing herself in such a shameful state
Cutting away from her thoughts, a rush of footsteps were heard on the first floor of the university followed by orders being yelled
A four person group gathered within the first floor infirmary, two men and two women, seemingly to be in their 20s
Each of them brought out their bags and unpacked them, revealing all the contents on the floor
Looking at the abundance of food, none of the people present could have their spirits lifted, even though food is crucial within the last days, it wasn't their goal in this trip
"Brother Mo, it seems like the medicine within the office was already looted when we arrived, we checked all the other floors too but it was still the same, empty cabinets"
Lu Wenfeng howled in anger "How kind of Chen Muyan to send us to a place without any medicine!, I knew that bastard didn't have good intentions when he suddenly recommended us to this place, Just wait until Laozi1Laozi-this old master, a chinese way of elevating one's generational age ranking against another person, elders are more respected in china meets him again"
Xia Wuya, shrinking to the side asked the leader "Brother Mo, What are we going to do?, In order to complete the mission, we needed to find cold medicine for the base leader's little daughter, but this university has already been emptied by others"
Gu Mo, the only figure who was standing among the five, heard all this and gritted his teeth in indignation, nothing went well for them after taking this mission
Gu Mo's clothes were disheveled, and the team's safety was in jeopardy, through the past few days he has experienced the vicissitudes of life in the apocalypse.
They took on the base leader's request to find fever medicine for his three year old daughter that was in serious condition, but it's easier said than done when medicine is this difficult to scavenge, such a crucial object would be the primary looting items for other survivors to take.
They would've been long sent to the afterlife if it weren't for Gu Mo's decisive actions of exploding their last oil reserves in order to escape and reach this university.
They had all their expectations on the medicine being found in this school, the hospital within the city wasn't a spot they could infiltrate with it being flooded with zombies, so the closer proximity university infirmary was naturally the second best option.
Now their hopes were shattered, the university had already been looted, and now they lacked the gas needed to run the car.
Gu Mo had only a brief moment to self reflect as the exclamations of one of his female teammates resounded in the room "Not good! Five zombies are coming from the entrance"
Catching every team member off guard, zombies rushed inside the infirmary quickly, leaving little to no time for them to get into formation.
"Get On the ground!"
Su Yunwu, who yelled, generated five spikes with her earth ability, and launched them directly at the five zombies rushing towards them
The rest of the four people crouched on the ground staring at the zombies
Four were immediately impaled on their heads with the spikes, but one zombie unexpectedly slouched, dodging the spike completely
The zombie eyed the survivors and put his sight to the closest food source nearest to him, who happened to be the crouched Lu Wenfeng, who was scolding Chen Muyan earlier.
Lu Wenfeng quickly tried to mobilize his fire, but zombie's wait for noone as it lunged forth with saliva and blood dripping from the corner of it's wide open mouth.
Seeing Lu Wenfeng in danger, Gu Mo and the team yelled
"Lu Wenfeng!"
Just as Lu Wenfeng was ready to feel the on coming pain, the expected bite didn't happen
A few seconds passed before a confused Lu Wenfeng opened his eyes to see the upclose zombie near his face but motionless with a stick piercing through its head coming from behind the zombie
This scene left Lu Wenfeng sluggish for a moment
Witnessing Lu Wenfeng being safe, the hearts of the other four were relieved and they looked towards the unexpected visitor.
The person standing behind the zombie, holding the Javelin was a women had long dark hair, with one strand braided on the left side of her face, and a high ponytail that lowered to reach her spine
The facial features were exquisite, having narrow phoenix eyes and a sharp chin that combined with her thin eyebrows gave a cold condescending look.
The lady who saved Lu Wenfeng turned out to be such a cool beauty
Feeling the intense stares from her surroundings, Han Wuqing still kept a straight face while retrieving her javelin, she was too lazy to care about others gazes
Gu Mo regaining clarity, hurriedly stepped forward to greet the lady that appeared "Thank you for your help miss, if you didn't arrive, my team member wouldn't have made it"
"F*ck that was close, Laozi2This old man almost became desert for this stinky zombie" Lu Wenfeng quickly stood back up and cleared the dirt and dust off him, and looked at Han Wuqing with gratefulness "Thank you little sister for your assistance!"
Gu Mo almost forgetting the important introduction started to introduce himself and the other four of his teammates.
Their group consists of three superpowers and a medic, the three superpowers being Gu Mo himself a level 2 water power, also the leader of the four, being a former soldier before the last days.
The red haired that almost got bitten was Lu Wenfeng, Gu Mo's sworn brother and a level one fire power, before the apocalypse he and Gu Mo were in the same battalion, so they were familiar enough to join a group right at the start
The girl who yelled get down and shot the earth spikes is Su Yunwu, a first level earth power, and the deputy captain of the group, Before the last days, she worked as an attorney, leading her to have a high sense of justice.
The final member was standing behind Su Yunwu, only peeking occasionally from a safe distance, her name is Xia Wuya, the medic of the group and the only one without superpowers, she had a shy personality and a more petite build, being about the same height as Han Wuqing,
Seeing their sincerity on their eyes and no malicious intent was detected from them, Han Wuqing gave a plain introduction
"Han Wuqing"
Han Wuqing gave each of them a quick look, and once satisfied she averted her eyes and bent over to collect the crystal nucleus of the zombie, not minding how dirty her hands became from the blood.
After successfully retrieving the clear crystal nucleus, Han Wuqing stood up, turning to the entrance of the school to leave.
Seeing that Han Wuqing was preparing to leave, Gu Mo hurriedly questioned "May I ask where is Miss Han's next destination is? If possible would you like to travel alongside our group?"
Gu Mo couldn't let this golden buddha get away, if they could bring another teammate with them, their odds of success will undoubtedly raise, and also looking at Han Wuqing, even if she never showed powers in front of them, they still could tell that she was a strong person just from the strength she used to stab the zombie that attacked Lu Wenfeng
"We're on a mission to find medicine for the Sunrise base leader's daughter, you will be rewarded greatly if you accompany us to help us find medicine"
Han Wuqing stopped her steps after hearing the words Sunrise base, compared to the Tomorrow base of City F, the sunrise base in the plot is relatively unknown.
