"Right, I'm dreaming." Was the first thing S said as he didn't wake up. He was right, of course.

He looked around, swiveling on his foot to see the entire area around him.

A sea of yellow sand below him, spreading into infinity. No distant volcanoes or towns, this time around.

An orange sky overhead, spanning out just as far.

That don't feel right. Felt more like a crisp blue-sky kinda thing. Oh well.

It was hot, but not as hot as it should've been. His dreams always did a bad job with the heat. 'Least it was comfortable.

He looked down, this time at himself.

Oh, that's new. He was only half-naked. Rather, he was just wearing underpants. Typically he was either fully clothed or fully nude. The rest of his body was the same as ever.

"...Why're they black?" S tugged on the oddly tight waistband of the underpants. Tight, but weirdly smooth and comfortable. That was true for the entirety of the garment. "Why's it shiny? What is this..?"

There weren't any that looked or felt like this in his collection. His were all the same shade of tan, just the same as his robes. This was strange... And admittedly incredibly comfortable, moreso than any piece of clothing he'd worn in his entire life.

"Comfy, eh?"

"Catface..." S disdainfully groaned before anyone could say that the voice was coming from above him. S's face soon furled confusedly. "Catface..?"

"Guilty as charged." Catface slow descended into his view, still hovering just over his head.

S's nose twitched... Which didn't have much significance in this place.

He stared. This... This was especially strange. He suddenly remembered having a number of dreams involving Catface... Some horrifying, some exhilarating, some... Strange.

But Catface never looked or acted like this in any of those.

"Perceptive as ever, eh?" Catface grinned, floating gently overhead.

"Right." S squinted, preparing himself just in case she exploded or turned into a giant foot. She didn't. So... "Then, you're..?"

She clicked her tongue affirmatively, winked, and pointed both of her index fingers towards him, her thumbs pointed up.

"Right, how and why?"

"Magic." She answered, twiddling her thumbs.

"Right, I've never heard of magic that lets you invade dreams." S raised an eyebrow, keeping his breathing in check.

"There's a lot you haven't heard of, guy."

"Right." S spoke calmly, and shrugged.

He felt that his waking mind would be horrified, had it been present. Normally he didn't stick around once he realizes he's dreaming. He'd just look around and wake up after a few seconds. He was out of his element. On top of that, S doesn't really understand dreams to begin with. "Mind telling me what it does?"

Catface also shrugged. "Eh. Not much, really. It's pretty crap. I can enter a dream, screw with people, mess with things a bit, but not nearly as much as I can in the waking world. You can't really hurt anyone, and most of the time they don't remember anything, so torture's kind of a bust... It's only good for having private conversations, really. Maybe a little info gathering... Or planting an idea or two into one's subconscious."

"Right." S had no idea what that last one meant, but her mischievous grin and the slight changing of tone told him it was freaky. "So why're you here? What're you plotting?"

"Not much. Most of my plots are already happening." Catface noted, looking down at S with a mischievous glint. "I just saw how conked out you were, and suddenly remembered I could do this. You're crazy conked, by the way. Even after I cast the spell, you were still sleeping. In the dream. I was hovering around behind you for, like, half an hour. Tried to think of something cool to say, but, uh... So, how'd double sleep feel? Twice as refreshing?"

"What did you do, Catface?" S asked his own questions, and kept his hand behind his back. He wriggled his fingers, and a thin stream of sand danced around them. Alright, magic's still on the table.

"Oh, nothing." Catface waved her hand. "Just hired a guy to kill you, and dropped a particularly angry mad beast outside your camp. Nothin' fancy, nothin' fancy."

"Who's coming, and when-?"

"Soonish. Don’t think town’s all that far."

Shit. What if it’s while he's still sleeping? Even if he woke up now, he wouldn't have the strength to fight much of anything. Damnit... At least the angler was keeping watch. His companions were strong enough, probably…

He gritted his teeth. He didn't like being protected, but it was preferable to dying in his sleep.

Though, with Catface digging around his head, he might not have a choice.

“Oh yeah, been meaning to mention, any idea why you were naked earlier?" Catface asked, absent-mindedly eyeing his body.

"Right. Happens." S shrugged, actively trying to seem nonchalant. "Especially when I dream about this place."

"That's weird as hell." Catface decided.  "You're weird as hell. You're welcome for the underwear, by the way."

"Right. Thanks."

They were pretty comfortable.
