Chapter 39 – The World Trembles! (1)

It seemed as though the rain won’t stop. In fact, it rained even harder. The churning dark clouds in the sky resembled a black hole. From its center, a black column of light fell down. And at the very bottom of the column, a man strode with an even pace. His grey hoodie was blackening…

From an outsider’s perspective, he was leisurely taking his time. But from the shadow’s view, it was like a giant slowly waking up from its slumber! He could sense the trembling of the ground, the gongs of heaven, and the calling of hell!

The shadow’s smile was getting larger and larger. What he was perceiving right now was Emanuel’s back growing taller until it reached the dome of the sky!

Four figures followed behind him. Their hisses came from the depths of the hell and their fur stood up like spears. A chill went down the spine of any listener hearing their gallops of despair. Like four horsemen of the apocalypse, they spread the curtain of darkness in their wake!

And the master that held their reins, stopped in his tracks. His dark globe eyes were spinning. Everything was caught with the sweep of his gaze.

“Detonate.”

The policeman, who was dozing off, rubbed his eyes when tsunami-like flames engulfed everything in his vision.

“Detonate!”

John Rick pulled the mayor’s daughter but stopped in a daze when he saw the entire mansion blowing up like a balloon. His legs turned into jelly and he sat on his butt. He didn’t even notice the girl fainting beside him.

Like a curse, Emanuel kept repeating a single word until it turned into a scream!

“DETONATE!”

The protesters, who were still heated up by their madness, saw the ground lighting up from its cracks. Their eyes widened in fright and right after, they evaporated into nothingness!

Gruum.

And then, a strange silence ensued. All beings, wherever they were, had the reflection of dancing flames contained in their sight. This graceful vision slowly devoured everyone’s sight and then there was nothing.

A screeching sound stopped in front of Emanuel not long after. The driver went out but he looked back in shock at the terrifying flames devouring the City Q!

“What are you doing here?” A low growling voice sounded beside the driver’s ears. He stepped back as if electrocuted and put on a defensive stance.

“Supreme, I’m asking you. What are you doing here?”

“What?” Supreme frowned. He couldn’t help but scan Emanuel from head to toe. This person… was different from before!

“I’m asking you. What are you doing here?!”

Supreme stared at his dark eyes that resembled the abyss. It sucked him in and he almost thought he vanished into the void! He quickly steadied himself. But he still found himself like a candle wink amidst the darkness!

“You!”

He wasn’t like the shadow who could see Emanuel's true extent. Still, he could feel the towering momentum Emanuel emanating right now!

“He is dangerous! I can’t let him pass!”

Supreme frowned harder. He was torn between his instincts, mind, and heart.

His instincts alarmed him nonstop like ambulance lights and sirens. He had a hunch that if he let Emanuel go, then something unimaginable would happen! It might sound crazy because he already checked Emanuel’s record. So, in his mind, Emanuel was only ordinary! But he knew this instant that everything was wrong! There was always something wrong with Aurora’s father!

Supreme recalled how pained Aurora was when she recollected her past. Then, she would smile from the bottom of her heart when talking about her current family. Especially her father! He couldn’t help but shiver. Is Aurora’s involvement in terrorism because of her father?

“You are here to stop me?”

Supreme felt stumped. It took him several moments to straighten his thoughts.

If he said ‘no’, then why is he here? To ask him?

If he said ‘yes’, then on what grounds? Just because he felt threatened by Emanuel’s aura?

“I apologize. I was tasked to search for you. This is regarding your daughter and son.” Supreme took his badge and put on a professional expression. This was the only thing he could do. To use his identity as a police investigator.

“Pfft.”

Ironically, Supreme could see Emanuel laughing but his expression grew darker by the second.

“You came here to apprehend me. And yet you forgot to take care of the city? Can you see what is happening behind you?”

Supreme frowned. He didn’t want to look anymore but Emanuel pointed at it. He could only step forward and blocked Emanuel’s sight. His meaning was clear, he was going to prevent Emanuel from taking any step further.

The latter face contorted. The anger inside his chest had reached the boiling point!

“Fucking look o’ so-called Supreme! Look how much devastation you neglected behind!”

“In your moments of hesitation, people will continuously die! Your family’s title is bloody useless with you! So step aside and be a good dog of the country!”

“Who are you?!” Supreme’s expression turned cold. A huge suspicion was born in his heart. “What do you know about me?!”

“Supreme.” Emanuel enunciated. His eyes were bloodshot. “If you don’t move out of my way, I’m going to destroy you!”
