[ Ding !! Host, I have detected that there is a 'starter gift package' currently unopened within your inventory. ]

[ If the host does not open said package now, the starter gifts will be discarded. Confirm Y/N ]

" Alright then, system; open the starter gifts. "

[The host has indicated that they wish to open the starter gifts. Please repeat after the system, "what's in the box?" ]

" Is it really necessary to do this? "

[The host has indicated that they wish to open the starter gifts. Please repeat after the system, "what's in the box?" ]

"Okay-okay, I understand!" Ray proceeds to take a deep breath, "what's in...

[ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! You actually said it, you could've opened the box this entire time by just going to your inventory. ]

Ray's face darkened. He had read many transmigration novels in his time, but he had never seen such a shameless system like this one before.

"First of all, if you make another Se7en reference; I swear I'm gonna go drown myself in that fountain other there. And secondly, just open the damn starter gift already."

[ DING !!! The Starter gift box has been opened. ]

[ - 25 attributes point ]

[ - past memories of the host body ]

[ - Gacha sub-system unlocked ]

[ Why have you suddenly gone silent Ray? Are the contents of the starter package somehow unsatisfactory? ]

" No... The rewards are fine and all, but what's the deal with your voice turning coquettish all of a sudden? If I'm not misremembering anything, your original voice was all genderless and mechanical sounding."

[ The system is programmed to adapt to the host's preferences. Therefore, the system has chosen the voice of Aina; the object of your unrequited love, as the most appropriate vocal preset. ]

The black line on Ray's face could likely be seen from miles away, but he decided to ignore the system's shameless provocations. Since continuing to engage with this thing would probably just continue draining his already dwindling brain cells.

" Okay Aina, you said something about me getting a gacha system right? Can you open it please?"

[ Sure host, anything for you (-‿◦).]

[ Welcome to the gacha system ]

[  You can spin once for 10 points or spin ten times for 100 points ]

[ A Silver item is guaranteed to drop at least once every 10 spins. ]

Ray was no stranger to the idea of gacha systems. As a qualified otaku, he had long since lost count of how many gacha games he'd played.

"Aina, how many points do I have right now, and how do I earn more of them?"

[ The host currently has 0 points, and you can obtain more of them by doing missions. ]

" So what you're telling me is that I can't even use the damn thing right now?"

[ No worries host. The first spin is free. Would you like to begin your free spin? Y/N]

Ray was about to agree with Aina, but he quickly began to speculate that something was amiss. Aina would never be this straightforward with him. There must be some kind of caveat to this "free spin", he thought inwardly.

"Aina, correct me if I'm wrong; but I have a skill called 'lucky boy' in my information panel right?"

[ Correct, the host indeed has a skill called 'lucky boy'. Upon activating this skill, the host's luck will be doubled for 5 minutes. Do you wish to activate the skill 'lucky boy' and begin your free spin? Y/N ]

Ray's face frowned a bit at the start, but then he realized something;" I've literally got nothing left to lose at this point". And so, with that thought firmly planted in his head, he gave his response. "Aina, activate my skill and crank that lever like it's 2005."

[ Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining a one-use 5x point multiplier. ]

[ Ding, congratulations to the host for obtaining the gold level skill, Shakespeare's disciple. ]

Ray was quite pleased with this result. Indeed, it would seem as though his luck had yet to fully sour.

"Okay Aina, I'm ready to assimilate the memories of my host's body with my own now."

[ Please confirm your choice to use the item "past memories of the host's body"? Y/N ]

Ray confirmed the request and waited for the new memories to be assimilated within his mind.

Five minutes passed in awkward silence, and yet there was still no indication that anything had changed.

"Aina did I accidentally press..."

" AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH"

Ray screeched loudly as his body collapsed onto the pavement. He had never imagined that a person could experience so much pain while remaining fully conscious. It felt as though the very essence of his memories were being torn apart and stitched back together haphazardly.

[ The system thanks you for your patience. Memory assimilation procedure complete. ]
