“Hey take it easy...”

I slowly turned to look at who could possibly be talking. Although, it was quite obvious who it was. I could recognize this voice anywhere after all. “Liam…!” I couldn’t help but furrow my brows. “Sorry.. I’ll be going now-” I was about to leave when he grabbed my arm. Calm down, calm down. I told myself. “I thought we were ignoring each other?” I said softly. “There’s no one here.” He says. I let go of his grip and held the arm he grabbed. “D-did you hear what I-” He shook his head. “I arrived when I heard you say the word ‘thinking.’” Ah… good thing he didn’t hear that. I should be careful. “Hey, stop being too hard on yourself.” He lifted his hand, about to pat my head when I avoided it. “Ah.. I’m-” I cut him off before he could say anything. “Stop! Don’t.. Don’t apologize. It’s not your fault.” I wanted to hug him so bad… I missed his warmth but I couldn’t do that right now. Liam was my childhood friend but ever since I moved here... I couldn’t even get close to him. It was for both our safeties.

* Ring *

“Won’t you answer that?” He asks. I took a deep breath and answered the call. “HEY WHERE ARE YOU?!?!” I was surprised by the loud noise and put the phone away from my ear out of reflex. “Is that Matthew?” Liam asked and I nodded in response. “STOP SCREAMING! I’m coming, jeez.” I saw Liam chuckle and I couldn’t help but blush. “Don’t forget what we planned!” Matthew on the other line reminds me. “Yes MOM.” I said sarcastically. I then proceeded to end the call and sighed. “Seems like you and Matthew are still the same.” Liam brushes his hair with his fingers and lets out a smile. “You should probably go. You don’t want him complaining to big bro.” He chuckles again. He’s probably remembering that time when Matthew and I were fighting over which ice cream flavor was better and when he saw Liam eating my favorite flavor, he ran to France and complained. “I’ll get going then.” I said.

As I was walking away, I stopped and looked back at Liam who was still standing there. I took a deep breath and ran towards him and gave him a hug. I could tell he was surprised. “I missed talking to you like this.” I said. “I do too. But for your safety...-” I hugged him tightly. “I know, I know… I just wish everything was over.” He returned my hug and rubbed my head. I then let go and said, “When this is over, let’s go back to how we were.” He looked at me and smiled. “I promise.” My face became a shade of bright red, I said my goodbyes and ran. As I was walking away I couldn’t help but smile a bit.
