[Chapter 10: The wind blows]

In all honesty I should have expected that I wouldn’t come out the same after learning mana circulation. Constantly flowing a controllable energy through oneself should obviously be a unique experience. So I can really one blame myself for not expecting my life would be changed substantially. It has only been a couple days since then but it feels like years.

Okay, I may be exaggerating it a bit, but still everything I do feels a bit different now. The best way to describe it would probably be a sixth sense is blooming. Although it is confined to my body and I can’t feel anything outside of me. I will probably look into that later.

Anyways I have spent these past few days adjusting to my new powers, studying my books, and more general training. This life is starting to become my new normal. I have become used to the conditions that are so different from my previous world. For example, hunting has become semi-commonplace and even easier than ever due to sprint. Now I rarely spoil any meat I get when butchering.

I stock all the skins I get for a later project. And I continue practice making stone tools, not content with the rather short sword I currently use. I finally found the proper way of attaching the blade head which I used to create a spear from an especially long stick and hand length stone. While I may use the sword a lot I will wait until I get good enough to create my ideal blade.

Currently I find myself jogging across the bank. I have doing this kind of light exercise since I had gotten here since my physical condition wasn’t good at all. Although I am only really copying a exercise spread through a famous show so I don’t know the efficiency. But the burning in my legs means something must be happening.

“Yay,” I would celebrate harder but I am too out of breath to do so. But at least now I am sure that what I am doing is working. But if it’s a skill that implies a limit to how much I can gain. Well it is probably more reliable than level ups and any additional improvement is welcome even if it’s not.

In an attempt to try something new I use the spear I made to see what happens. While far different in form the experience of using the sword makes it easier than starting completely blind. So in very little time at all a message appears

[When using a spear damage is increased by 2% crit damage by 1% and crit chance by 1%]

It is very similar to sword proficiency but with some changes according to the purpose of the weapon. Since nothing seems to be stopping me from getting skills for other weapons, maybe I should try to collect them all? Well that’s food for thought until I can make more of said other weapons. Right now all these other projects are distracting me from my main goal, applicable uses for magic.

I am talking about magic as in spellslinging, not what I can do. According to my book magic is turning the mana inside us into the elements and controlling that however we can. Chants exist as teaching aids that basically work by memorizing specific movements and linking them to phrases like a dog does tricks. Magic circles also exist and act as computer programs that tell mana what to do.

Bit before I can touch anything advanced I have to convert magic into an element. Doing this makes it easier to control outside the body. I once tried moving pure mana but it simply disputed the second it left my body wasting my mp.

Apparently the easiest way is to change mana into an element is to imitate the element with your mana. To do so I found my way up to the top of the cliff by the mouth of the waterfall. There is a rather strong breeze up here which I feel should make it the perfect practicing place. I chose wind as the first element because of its simple nature, as well as a lower chance of a disaster happening if something goes wrong.

Now meditating I use mana manipulation to the fullest I can. As it is low level it is hard to get the mana to move exactly how I’d like, but I should manage given time. I first attempt to make my mana flow as smoothly as possible before expelling any. Then I gently send mana out of my body, but I just waste mp again. Continuing I change it while making it flow as closely to the breeze that pellets my back. Gentle and calm, going wherever it wants. My mp is emptying like crazy but I keep going as I feel I getting closer to working. When on way doesn’t work I switch to another getting closer and closer. And through sheer trial and error, it works, a small breeze I produced with me even managing a small twirl before losing control. Tired yet triumphant, I lay down panting with a large smile on my face, “I did it.”
