After Emery left this world, Grey and Nora somehow found their way back into the city and to their homes. They went to their respective homes as Grey knew that Nora needed some time to grieve for her best friend.

In the meantime, Grey assimilated into his life as “Emery.” He met up with Nora and Shamir, who was recovering quite well and somehow graduated with a bachelor’s degree. He even gave himself the middle name, Grey, so that Nora and Shamir could still call him that name. Even so, he kept Emery’s name so that he would remember his friend even after he had died.

On some other news, Shamir had unlocked his “third eye” and was able to see spirits even after he had woken up from his coma. It made him join the Spiritual Light Agency along with Grey and Nora. He was quite powerful though, as expected of God System. He unlocked a Seer ability. He wasn’t able to see the future, but he was able to see the past. All he needed to do was put his spiritual energy into a beloved object of the dead or something significant to the dead, and see the life that they lived and how they died. He could also walk into a building, close his eyes, and focus on the spirit energies of the area to see what had happened on the land.

He was an important asset to the Spirit Light Agency but he was also an IT CEO, so he was more of an honorary member who did missions with Nora and Grey when he had the time.

“I’m at the site right now, Grey, but are you sure this is where I am supposed to be?” Shamir asked on the phone as he walked around a large mansion in a neighboring town. The mansion looked as though the people hadn’t finished moving in. There were still boxes on the ground in different locations of the house, old furniture that was covered by white clothes, and a layer of dust on some of the tables.

He was in the area for work at first, but Grey had asked for his help. It was nighttime, but it was the perfect time to come over as it was when the spirits were the most active. As for Nora, she was talking with the people who had bought the mansion but had run to a hotel a month after moving in.

Grey was there by himself but when he heard that Shamir was in town, he asked the man to come over to help him out.

“Yeah, I’m on the second floor right now. I will meet you at the entrance.”

As Grey said that, a figure in a white outfit moved down the hall on the second floor. They could be seen from the entrance because there was a set of stairs as soon as you walked in as well as the railing. The moving figure did not stop to look at Shamir as it left his sight.

Shamir was stunned for a moment but didn’t move as he knew it was best to wait for Grey.

Seconds later, Grey walked from where the white figure had left. He saw the figure but ignored it as it didn’t even stop to talk to him.

“Shamir, come on up! There’s a master bedroom down this hall. I just saw the white figure walking into that room.”

“Ah, it seems I still can’t get used to seeing these spirits.” He walked up the stairs to meet up with Grey who was standing by the railing. He wasn’t leaning on it just in case something decides to push him… It was dangerous being in the Spiritual Light Agency.

Grey chuckled. “No worries, with time, you will get used to it.”

The original Emery had been seeing spirits since his parents had died in a car accident, so he was used to it. As for Grey, he had even been an evil spirit at one point! This was nothing to him.

The two walked into the master bedroom where Grey saw the white figure and saw it standing in the middle of the room. They didn’t say a word but they were staring at the bed.

It was a woman in a white nightgown. Her short brown hair looked as though a child had cut her hair. Her hair was uneven in the weirdest areas, making them wonder who was so cruel to cut her hair like that.

The woman pointed at the bed as though she was trying to tell them something.

Grey looked over at the bed that was covered in new sheets, but there was nothing but pillows on it. “Is there something wrong with the bed?”

The woman looked at the two, her eyes were bloodshot red as though she wasn't allowed to sleep. She tilted her head, opening her mouth, but there was no tongue so she couldn't speak.

“Okay, you can’t talk, how unfortunate…” Shamir mumbled to himself. She was terrifying to look at so he couldn’t help but crack a joke to himself.

“Who did that to you? No worries, we will get revenge!” Grey said as he stomped around the bed.

A beautiful woman like her was tortured, and the bastard didn’t even spare her hair!

Grey lifted up the bed sheets and blankets but didn’t see anything so he tossed the pillows to a nearby couch. There was nothing. The blankets, bed covers, pillows, and bed were brand new.

Grey then moved the whole bed frame in one big swoop to find a small door behind the bed frame.

“What in the, this wasn’t in the blueprints…” Grey mumbled to himself.

Shamir walked over and tried to open the door but it didn’t unlock. They needed to find a key or something. “Should we go in there now?”

“I think we should wait for Nora to come…” Grey replied. She was the one who had the keys.

“Alright, let me text her.”

“Tell her to ask the new owners if they knew about the door behind their bed and if they have a key to it.”

“Got you.”

Grey got up to see if he could ask the lady, but she had already disappeared.

[She went behind that door when you two weren’t looking.] System 225 explained as he was watching the entire time.

‘She’s a sneaky one isn’t she…’

“Shamir, can you try using your ability on the door and see if you can get anything out of it?”

“Yeah, let me try.”

Shamir put both his hands on the door and took a deep breath. Slowly, spiritual energy left his body and went into the door. The door began to glow, showing Shamir a vision of what happened in this area.

He winced in pain, but he still kept watching, sweat began to drip down his face as he tried to concentrate. It wasn’t that it used a lot of energy, but it was just hard to watch.

After a while, Shamir let go of the door and opened his eyes. Grey was looking over at him worried and waiting to catch him if he fell over.

“I’m alright, Grey. Let me explain what I saw.” He opened up his phone and turned on his recorder. It was used to document every time a Seer saw something.

Shamir explained that there was a room behind the door. It was a place where a previous owner had hidden the bodies of young men and women they had kidnapped. They would be tortured there, brutally murdered, and then buried in the woods behind the mansion. The woods were not part of the property, actually, it was nobody's property but people in the neighborhood liked to go there to relax or camp.

“Damn, time to hit the internet and see who lived here in the past and for how long,” Grey grumbled and helped Shamir sit up. “There’s not much we can do except for gathering information and looking for the key, if not, I will break the door myself.”

They left the Master bedroom and walked out of the house to find Nora pulling up into the driveway. She was done talking with the family, so she wanted to meet up with Grey and Shamir to see.

“Grey, Shamir, I got all the keys to the house that were given to the owners!” She lifted her hand up to show a large ring with a bunch of keys on it, and it was packed.

“How many fucking doors do they even have???” Grey said as he grabbed the keys and felt just how heavy it was. It looked heavy and it lived up to the looks. “It would be faster if I just pick-locked the door, or broke it down by force.”

“You know how to pick-lock doors?” Shamir asked as he wondered when the man even had the chance to do so.

Nora was also curious as she knew that Grey was an old soul who had lived for a very long time. It would be weird if he didn’t pick up skills from his time alive.

“Yup, it’s pretty simple. Most locks have similar mechanisms. The ones I hate the most are the keys where it's just a damn cylinder stick.” They just gave no sense of protection at all!

Anyway, the trio went back to their cars and left the mansion.

When the trio came back, they came along with homicide investigators, forensic scientists, and other police officers. A large-scale investigation went down as they searched the woods for the bodies that were buried there.

They had found 30 bodies, 20 of which were reported missing years ago.

In the hidden room, they found the body of the previous owner. His spirit was being tormented by those he had killed.

*****

It didn’t take long for Grey to finish the side mission, even so, he was still a member of the Spiritual Light Agency group along with Shamir and Nora. The trio was known as the most powerful team with no case that was unsolvable.

Nora eventually got married to a man who was also a part of the agency, but the two adopted kids instead of Nora giving birth to her own. She was an orphan herself, so she understood the struggles of being in the adoption/foster system. Nora and her husband adopted five kids, two of which could see spirits as they could. They lived a happy and long life helping spirits move into the light.

As for Shamir and Grey, they got married, adopted a couple of kids, and spent a lot of their time helping spirits, especially after Shamir had retired and handed the IT company to their eldest daughter. Shamir’s parents also traveled the world until they died of old age.

Hunter Winter, the young man who had his father killed by his mother, decided to take his former mother to court. In the end, Hunter had won. He knew that his father did not want to get revenge on his mother, but it was not for his father, it was for him and his sister who had lost a beloved parent. The money that he won from the case was used to support himself and his little sister until they were old enough to take care of themselves. He became a legal guardian for his little sister and supported her until she finished college.

As for little Jace Alston, he could still see spirits and studied hard to become an Agent at the Spiritual Light Agency. He became a guide just like Nora.

Even so, Nora and Grey could not forget their dear friend Emery who was waiting in the light. Before Nora died, Grey told Nora that he wouldn’t be in the light with them, and to let Emery know that he said hello.

Nora kept her promise and left the world before Grey. A few years later, Grey and Shamir left the world together.
