Silas was stretching outside of the cave for the first time in a while. His fever stopped and his wound was almost closed. He couldn’t do anything too crazy, but his joints were stiff from laying around all day. He needed to stretch or he would go insane.

“Be careful not to open the wound.” Grey reminded Silas as he was making breakfast.

“I will be careful.”

They had been stranded on this planet for 12 days already but there were no signs of the rescue team. It was strange that nobody else but Grey, the original, followed Silas! It made Grey, the host, a little mad.

“I don’t mind being stuck here, just the two of us… Though it would be nice if the Zerg weren’t here and the animals and vegetation were safe to eat.”

“That would be nice. Maybe when everything is situated, we can go on a long vacation, just the two of us.” Silas really liked this idea. He had many places he wanted to go to in this galaxy alone!

In this world, the “humans” with physical and mental energy lived for around 300 years. But the higher the rank, the longer they lived. It was reported that S-rank individuals could live up to 600 years. This was twice the age of people who were only F-rank. Those without that energy lived for only about 150 years.

They were only in their 30’s and 40’s so they had plenty of time to relax together.

“Once we had our fun traveling around, I hope we can settle on a planet without a lot of people. Then we can relax with our kids, watch them grow up and leave the nest, and spend the rest of our lives together.”

Silas, the sappiest one out of the two, mumbled about all sorts of things. He was even calculating how much it would cost for their wedding, honeymoon, vacations, etc.

Grey couldn’t help but laugh hearing all of Silas’ mumbling. “You really are excited to go places.”

“Of course, I want to experience everything with you. I want to make more and more memories together so all we have to remember are the times we had together. I want to be by your side always.”

Silas gave Grey light cheek pinches, something he hadn’t done in a while.

Grey felt his heart warming hearing God System’s words and feeling his fingers. In every world, he felt like this man was healing his wounded heart and soul.

“I feel the same way, my love.”

There’s no one else but only you that I would want to be within the many universes and worlds of the UniOrb.

[Grey… I can’t see what it is but there is something causing small tremors in the ground. It’s like… Something is coming in this direction.]

Grey, who was already outside the cave making sure all the traps were in place, looked up towards the top of the trees and saw thousands of birds fleeing the area. They looked close, but he knew it was because of the sheer amount of birds flying away.

“What in the world is going on?” Grey said worried about the safety of their base.

Silas, who was also outside the cave, placed both his palms on the ground and injected mental energy into the ground. He was hoping he could feel any living creatures or Zergs with it.

“This… there seems to be a lot of Zergs moving towards our direction.”

“Shit! Can you tell how long it will take them to get here?”

“From the speed they are moving at, I’d say you have 4 hours maximum.”

“Four hours? Then we have some time to prepare.” It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough to get all their traps checked and get Silas up the mountain.

Grey scrambled around to check the rest of the traps and then added a few more just in case. If his premonition was correct, there was no point in running away as these Zergs would follow them to the ends of the planet.

“Remember, you will be at the top of the mountain and you aren’t allowed to go down! When I give the signal, cut the ropes holding the boulders!”

Grey had to keep Silas alive no matter what! Not only was his life and death a part of the side mission, but this was his lover. Grey would die to ensure that God System made it out alive.

“I understand! So you better not die on me again…”

Grey was a little stunned but he promised. Even if he lost a limb or two, he will be sure to make it out alive. He knew his lover wouldn’t mind taking care of him forever.

Silas, as planned, grabbed the wired rope, and tied it as tight as he could around his waist. His wound was near it, so he had to be extra careful to not dig into it.

He slowly, but skillfully, climbed up the mountain. It took him 30 minutes to reach the top.

Seeing that Silas made it up there, he also threw a couple of bags he had prepared. It had some rations, medicine, and some things he could use to build a tent if needed. They were a bit heavy, so it was best if he just threw them up instead of letting an injured Silas struggle to carry them up a mountain…

Silas shouted as loudly as he could, “Thank you! You stay safe down there, okay?”

“I will. I will make sure we make it out of here alive.”

Grey checked his weapons once more and then his supplies. He also had some medicine with him, rations, and some zerg scythes. They were extremely hard and could slice through trees. He tried to slice other Zergs with it and it was successful.

‘The arms of these Zergs are quite terrifying, especially without our mechas.’

With mechas, these Zergs were Medium rank in terms of difficulty. Without their mechas, these kinds of Zergs could sweep through vulnerable planets. People living on these kinds of planets had to hope and pray that the military would come fast enough to save them from a zerg infestation.

Even if they were difficult, he couldn’t give up.

‘How much longer until the Zergs arrive?’

[You have approximately two more hours. They are coming within range.]

“Understood. Let me rest and eat… I have a long battle ahead of me.”

Within two hours, Silas and Grey went through their plan multiple times. They also made sure they had everything they needed.

[Here comes the first wave of Zergs, Grey! I will help you as best as I can.]

‘Thank you! Let’s get going.’

Five Zergs made their way through the dense forest and screeched at the sight of him. Afterward, they charged toward him all at once.

They didn’t give Grey time to breathe, but that was fine, he knew how to cut them down efficiently. He had to save his energy for many battles to come.

After he finished the first five Zergs, more waves of Zergs came. The cave was situated at the base of a mountain, in a valley created by several other mountains, so the Zergs couldn’t come in all at once. The defense of this area was the best for Grey who was soloing all the Zergs.

As Grey was fighting, he heard Silas’ voice from the top of the mountain. “Grey, I can see thousands of Zergs trying to climb up the smaller mountains!”

He pulled out his gun to snipe down any incoming Zergs. Once the trap was set, there would be no more, so some Zergs may try to come to him or to Grey. He had to be prepared.

He didn’t have much ammo though, so he had to be careful.

These praying mantis Zergs could not fly or climb but they used each other’s bodies to move upward.

“Shit, time to use trap number 1.” Grey moved to the right side of the small valley and ran up it.

When he got to the top, he kicked down the boulders that he had set. They rolled down the side of the mountain, squishing the Zergs that were trying to get into the valley. He jumped down from the top, stepping and beheading Zergs as he jumped to the other side to do the same. Afterward, he continued to attack the Zergs coming in from the front.

If he had some teammates, this wouldn’t be too hard, but he was alone, so he had to use the terrain to his advantage.

[Grey, I see a large Zerg in the distance. It’s twice as large as the other Zergs. We can assume that it is the leader seeing as it is staying in the back.]

‘It’s like they are an organized army.’

Grey jumped off the body of one Zerg and jumped to another. The ground was already littered with Zergs, making it hard to walk on, so he resorted to jumping from Zerg to Zerg or from the slope to Zerg.

[There are still a lot of Zergs. From what I have calculated, you have killed 543 out of… 2354.]

‘Damn, I don’t think I can hold on for that long by myself!’

Grey signaled Silas to drop the boulders. He moved into the cave, luring some Zergs toward him. Five giant boulders dropped in a circle around the cave entrance, killing the Zergs that got too close. It gave Grey a second to breathe.

‘Where is the rescue team?!’ He gritted his teeth while he complained to System 225.

Grey really didn’t know how long he would be able to hold on.

Seeing the head of a Zerg pop out from behind the boulder, Grey decided not to think about it anymore and keep fighting. All he had to do was hold on until the rescue team came or he somehow defeated all of them without his mecha. He could only hope that Silas’ comrades saw the migration of Zergs on this planet!

He jumped on top of the middle boulder and decapitated the incoming Zerg. After that, he jumped off the boulder to a nearby Zerg and continued to slash them down in one slice. He focused more on power and accuracy when killing the Zergs. If he was too fast, he would wear himself down faster.

After a while, even the dagger he found on him had broken. The one Silas gave him also broke after some time. It was fine though, he had the zerg scythes he kept on hand. He wondered if they would feel distressed being killed by their own body parts/weapons!

Seeing their scythes, all the zergs in the surrounding area began to screech. Usually, it was hard to hear, but with hundreds of them surrounding the area, it echoed through the small valley.

[They seem angry.]

‘Not my fault, this is the only weapon I have!’

It was like the zergs were injected with energy drinks, their eyes turned red with anger. Their attacks became faster and more ferocious, but predictable. It was like they disregarded everything just to kill him.

Silas, who was at the top of the mountain, was worried about Grey. Even he didn’t know if he could withstand an army of Zerg without his mecha or worse by himself. He felt so useless! He wished he wasn’t injured so he could go down there and fight alongside Grey.

He gritted his teeth and pulled out his gun. He was limited on ammo, but he could at least take down 100 with just the energy gun! He also had Grey’s gun and ammo but it didn’t have as much. Maybe around 20.

Silas got into position and began shooting any Zerg that tried to climb the mountain. Green-looking blood splattered with every shot, successfully killing the Zergs in one shot. It took a lot of concentration since he knew that he couldn’t waste a single bullet.

He saw a Zerg coming too close to Grey and he instinctively took it out. Grey turned around and gave a thumbs up and continued to defeat the incoming Zergs. Silas could see the sweat dripping down Grey’s head as he moved around. His muscles were tight and tense without a chance to relax. Even so, Grey stood tall on the battlefield, determined to take down every last Zerg even at the cost of his life

As Silas was shooting, System 225, who had his radar on at all times, noticed something coming toward the planet. He couldn’t see it, but it was moving at a fast pace.

[Host, I think the rescue team is here!]

Grey jumped off a Zerg and landed on top of a boulder. He squinted his eyes and saw black dots coming toward them. They were two days earlier than the original plotline, but they still took forever!

“About fucking time!”

Grandpa Marky: Hello my Grandchildren! Will be taking a break from updating next week so I can focus on writing. I'm almost done with the main part of this story and I want to take this week to just write intensely. I've been slacking and my goal is to finish this story by the end of this year. So my deadline for the main story is Dec 31st! I still hope to finish before then though because I start school again in January. Anyway, that's it from me! Step bro said hi again too.
