Happy 30k views wooooooooo

We had left Gwyar back at Randy's house while we went to the Headquarters.

I explicitly said that if Randy was to cause any sort of harm to Gwyar, the whole migration would be over.

"What exactly is this plan, little brother? Why do we have to go to the Town Guard Headquarters to do it?"

"I figured we'd send off the Town with a bang. I'm going to make an announcement, with Randy right beside me to translate."

"About what?"

"Freedom, of course. The people who have been oppressing it's own citizens have been exterminated, and the whole of Lobeck will soon be able to leave this shithole of a place."

"What if they don't follow you though, little bro?"

"Well, that's up to them. Because we'll be burning this whole town to the ground once we leave. They can stay here and die if they want."

I looked around at the houses and all the buildings that made up this place called Lobeck. They'd all be gone soon.

There must be no trace of life left here once all of Lobeck has migrated. It could be bad if some random group of humans come across this burnt and destroyed town.

"Then again, I actually believe that it is possible for the entirety of Lobeck to survive Death's Corridor. It's just a matter of whether the plan I have will work."

"I'm still surprised that people actually lived down here, little brother. I couldn't even stay here for more than a day, let alone years."

"Well, people adapt. They find ways to live through it all. And for that I respect them. Which is why I decided to give them their chance and help them leave this place."

"Oh, here we are. So, mind telling us what we're doing here, little bro?"

"We're burning it down, of course. It's going to be shown as a symbol of freedom, and that the people are free, no longer opressed. So help me out here, will you? We've only got a few hours before everybody comes here."

We immediately headed inside the building. As soon as we entered through the front door, I had my siblings split up to find all the things they could burn.

And to leave alone the valuable goods, of course. These would be given back to the people of Lobeck, as it was rightfully theirs.

I was with Lena, so we first decided to clear the third floor, which was the largest one by size.

Multiple rooms lined the walls. It seemed like for every few steps or so there would be another door to our side.

Despte that it was obviously going to be a drag to sweep the whole area clear of goods, I had Lena start with the closest one.

And from then on, it was smooth sailing. Any flammable materials we had found were gathered right beside the stairs, and the valuable ones inside our Dimensional Storage.

There were some times when the rooms proved to be too much, and we had to take a few breaks, but all in all we went through the whole building pretty quickly.

We met up with Lucas and Aurelia, who had also finished up their respective floors by the time we had come down.

"Good work, guys. Now, we should wait for Randy to get here."

While we were waiting for the chief, we decided to comb the building one last time, just in case we missed some things.

"Kenneth? Open up, it's me... Randy." Just as we had confirmed that there was nothing left in the entire building, a knock came from outside.

"Yeah, come in. It's open." I responded to the chief.

"Excuse me... whoa. Did you guys sweep this whole thing clean?" Randy scanned the walls of the building, and saw that everything in the area was gathered right beside the stairs.

"Yeah. We're going to be burning this whole thing down to the ground. In the meantime, I'd like for you to take all the valuables we found, and distribute it back to the people. Good luck."

"A-all of this?!"

"Yup. You have an hour. Chop chop."

_____________

Seems like Randy actually did it. In just an hour, he had already returned, empty handed. All of the treasures seemed to have been given back equally.

And just in time. I looked outside the window to see that people were starting to gather in front of the Headquarters.

This was good. Everything was going well. Now for the next part of our plan. Time to burn it all down!

"Randy, come with me. Let's head up to the rooftop."

"Okay."

I had already explained to Randy that he was to be my translator for the announcement. Because who else would? He was the only dhampir who didn't only speak in Nosferanian and could actually understand us. Besides Gwyar, of course. But you know how that went.

Along with my siblings we went up to the top of the rooftop. And there it was.

The entire population of Lobeck was crowding the streets of the Town, filling the roads to it's brim.

There were so many people that they were cramped together in the tight streets.

But that was no matter. The announcement would start now.

With Randy at my side, I began to chant my spell.

"Database Link!"

My mana began to stretch out from my body as it started to move towards the people down below.

In a few seconds, the entirety of Lobeck had received the "vibration" on their heads, very much like Randy.

Beside me, Randy had a megaphone. Don't ask me where he got it, but he said it was hidden in his basement.

"Hear me, all citizens of Lobeck. My name is Randy Fang. You might know me as the chief of this Town. Today I have come to proclaim this announcement. My friend here..." He pointed to me. "Does not speak Nosferanian. Thus I will be translating it for you. Did you all feel the vibration in your head? Think with your mind that you want to accept it."

"Alright... ahem. Ah shit, that hurts. Everybody shut the fuck up!" Now that the people had accepted my Link, the seemingly endless numbers of voices coming from them began to hurt my head like hell.

"Everybody quite down. Your voices are hurting my friend."

Oh, good. They're quieting down now.

"Now, let me speak. All citizens of Lobeck, my name is Kenneth Conroy Enchanter! I am a human. And a noble..."

Responses of disgust soon began to sweep up among the crowd.

"Ah, shut the fuck up, please. I'm doing this for you guys."

"Are you okay, little brother? Does it hurt?" Lena looked at me in pain, and was patting my head like a baby.

"I'm fine. Let me continue. Today, is a day of happiness. Some of you may have seen us carry around Macole, the Town Guard Captain. Well it is with great excitement that i announce to you all, that today... The Town Of Lobeck is finally free!"

Just as I said that, I took a matchstick I had found earlier, lit it, and threw it to the bottom of the building.

The matchstick fell for quite a long time before it

As it touched the bottom of the building, it simultaneously gave rise to vicious flames that threatened to eat the whole building alive.

"Wait, how are we getting out of here, Kenneth?" Randy beside me, who had just finished translating my words in Nosferanian, asked me how to get out.

"Oh, that's easy. We're jumping off."

"Yeah, okay- wait, what!?"

"Yup, jump off now!" My siblings immediately ran towards a side of the building where there were no people, and leaped over the edge of the building.

When I looked down, I saw the tree that had seemingly grown out of nowhere. It was the plant I had ordered Aurelia to scatter on the ground.

And as we were falling, Aurelia chanted Overgrowth on the small plant, immediately forcing it's life to age to that of an adult.

Oh, perfect. A cushion!

We soon landed safely on the tree, no pain felt. I looked up to see Randy, who had fearlessly followed us as soon as we jumped.

He soon reached us in a few seconds.

"Ah... you're insane."

"That's the first compliment I've heard from you."

While hanging from the top of the three, we looked down at the crowd. They were still mesmerised by the burning building.

As if they were in trance, they stared at the scorching former Headquarters.

"Hey, stop that. You guys are free, you know?" As soon as I said that, Randy immediately translated it so that everybody could understand.

And as if they were broken out of their trance, everybody simultaneouslt leapt in excitement.

Tears of happiness were shed, screams of excitement were heard, and all in all everybody was happy to finally be free from the Town Guard's oppression.

"Don't forget to prepare your bags. Everybody, we'll be leaving this place in a few weeks."

I didn't think the people heard me or Randy. They were too busy celebrating.

Oh well, I guess we can leave that for later.

"Are you fine with this, little brother? They didn't hear you at all."

"Yeah, I figured I'd let them keep the spirit of joy for just a little while longer. They're going to need it when they cross through Death's Corridor."
