Uh, does anyone remember if I already got the Korok at the top of this hill last stream? I did? Okay, thanks, chat! In that case, I think we can go ahead and start making our way to the next shrine.”
Just then, Hunter heard a knock at their bedroom door. “Oh, sorry, I think my mom wants something. PauseChamp.”
They muted their mic, pulled off their headset and stood up from their gamer chair. “Mom! You can come in!”
A moment later, their mom opened the door. “Hey, sweetie,” she said. Her eyebrows raised slightly at seeing Hunter in a turtleneck sweater and black skater skirt, with cat-eye makeup. “Interesting look. Just wanted to check if you had any preference between tacos and hamburgers for dinner?”
“Hamburgers sound good,” Hunter said.
Just then, their mom noticed the paused game and open spreadsheet on Hunter’s two monitors. “Oh, sorry, did I interrupt the stream?”
“It just got started,” Hunter said. “Actually, do you want to say hi to my chat?”
“Oh, sure!” their mom said. “Uh, how do I do that?”
“I’m going to sit back down here and then you can just, uh, crouch down a little and wave and say high from right next to me.”
Hunter sat back down and unmuted themself. “Hey, chat, my mom just wanted to say hi real quick!”
Their mom came over and waved to the camera. “Hi, everyone!” She turned to Hunter. “Is that good? Did I do it right?”
“You did great, mom,” Hunter said. “Chat is loving it.”
“Well, I should have burgers done around 7!” their mom said. “Do you want me to bring you one or will you be done by then?”
“I think I’ll be done for today around then,” Hunter said. “Thanks, mom. Love you.”
“Love you too,” their mom said, before making her way out of their room. “Oh, do you want the door open or closed?”
“Closed, please,” Hunter said.
“Got it!”
Hunter shrank the window with the open spreadsheet so they could look at chat.

Hunter… Sage? sat there for a moment, thinking, their hand over their lower face. “Uh, yeah. I think I’m going to try that, at least for now. I don’t want to commit in case it doesn’t feel right. Oh, and she for pronouns, I guess? I also want to try that out, maybe just for this week. I read that as a suggestion online.”
After anxiously staring down at their feet for a moment, Sage managed to rip her view upwards and looked at the chat. To her relief, it mostly seemed fine.

Sage finally tore her attention away from the game and tried to resume actually streaming. “Sorry, chat, got distracted for a moment. So, we were just heading to that shrine, right?” She tried her best to be a good streamer and have an energetic and cheerful voice, even though on the inside she was feeling really upset. But no one was watching the stream to see her cry. She could do that later.
You really can't win with Twitch chat. Or Discord discourse either, to be fair.
There's always some sudden ... hmmm, i don't know what would be the right word cuz I don't want to commit all the way to bigot, or sometimes it's the ones who take every disagreement as a personal attack and project their chosen "enemies" as the identity of everyone who feels like could fit. Call it cis, white men, americans in gral, republicans in particular, and that's just one "side". There's also the ones (within the same community) who see problem on "the sensitive" as "political", causing too much trouble, drowning on a puddle, making a bad name for everyone else.
I'm glad Mel and also snipes were there and able to de-escalate the situation when it presented, but it's a shame Sage had to see it too and may take it personally and as their own mistake, especially since she's just "testing this out" so she may feel she was wrong on even trying on the first place.
Trans_rites, I get where you're coming from, but that was a hell of an assumption :(

Good resolution in regards to Astolfo_jerk, but trans_rites frustrates me, especially because of how similar her attitude is to the first fellow trans coworker I had (who was also nonbinary try like me). I’d enjoyed working with her, but she apparently felt I was not… I don’t know, idealist enough? Not sufficiently willing to dehumanize those who would oppress us?… and so after deciding that, she gave me the cold shoulder. It was frustrating and disappointing.
