"Wake up dear. You're going to be late for school!"

A middle aged woman said as she shook the small figure who had bundled themself into a ball with blankets.

"Hmm...stop... five more minutes..."

A drowsy feminine voice replied as she curled even further into a ball.

"You said that ten minutes ago."

"... ten more minutes."

The middle aged woman couldn't help but sigh. She then got to the bed, gripped the blankets and tore them away from the sleeping figure. A young girl could be seen. Judging from her appearance, she appeared to be a sporty high school girl with blue and white hair. She was probably popular with the opposite sex, considering that she had an exotic beauty that was very hard to describe.

"Come on now, up you go. I don't want your teachers telling me your late to class today. Also, if you try to skip any of your classes again, we're going to have a nice long talk about your academic success. Understood?"

"... yes mom."

The girl finally opened her eyes exposing light blue eyes. She stood up with a yawn and began to stretch. Seeing this, the middle aged woman left the room and began prepping the girls lunch. As for the young girl, she slowly began to fully wake. She seemed rather confused and began to look around her. She then saw a mirror and saw the figure within.

"Who?"

She looked confused, as if she never recognized the image within the mirror.

"Liz! Your foods getting cold!"

Liz was broken from her stupor and quickly yelled to her mom that she was coming down. When she got to the kitchen, a man could be seen eating as he scrolled through his phone. Once he noticed her, he smiled as he placed his phone to the table.

"There she is. Sleeping beauty has finally awaken. Tell me, did a young prince wake you up from your slumber... since if he did, I'm gonna have to have a word with him."

Liz couldn't help but smile at her.

"No dad, no prince for this princess."

"Goo-"

"Though, there is this dashing young knight I'm interested in."

"Hah, if such knight dares to woo you, I'll ensure he's stripped of his title!"

"Sheesh... you two are such dorks..."

The father and daughter pair kept up their antic while the mom couldn't help but think how she ended up with a dorky husband and daughter. In the end, she too succumbed to their play and the entire family could be seen smiling and laughing.

"Oh crap, the time!"

Liz couldn't help but shout as she only had forty minutes left to get to school. She quickly ran back to her room, put on some stylish clothes and quickly ran out of the house. Of course, she greeted her parents goodbye with a quick kiss to their cheeks, and a quick hug. She was then barreling down the streets on a hoverboard.

"...r...m."

She stopped as she looked around her. The streets were packed with people and cars. It was a sunny day so most people could be seen wearing light clothes.

"I'm starting to hear things."

She kept going and soon, she made it to her school. It was a large campus capable of hosting three thousand students. Most of the students had already entered the school though you could still see a couple of stragglers running for the doors.

Inside, students could be seen everywhere. Some were busy taking and storing things in their lockers. Others would be crowded in a small group talking about their weekend or their relationships. The rest were already in their classrooms, some making a ruckus much to the annoyance of their teachers.

"Hey Liz, you seem to look different? Did you get your hair done? Or you using a different brand this time?"

"Yo Liz! Ya still up for the meetup later?"

"Liz! Thank God you're here. Do you know ____ ? Yeah, him. You won't believe what he did."

"You know Liz, I'm always down for a drink at the cafe down Verley. Maybe you and me can-"

Every time, Liz seemed to be stopped by a friend of her as she tried making her way to her classes. Luckily enough she made it to her class in a nick of time.

"... Well, what do you know. You're actually here on time Lizette."

"Don't get used to it Mr. Ross. This is a once in a blue moon type of jig."

"Clearly... Now, sit. I have to get the class started."

She took a sit at the back of the class and began to drown out the noise around her. As popular as she is, she really preferred being by herself. Furthermore, even if she was a troublemaker, most teachers let her get away with most things considering she had excellent scores in all her subjects.

"Now class, if you can turn to page..."

Liz kept staring out the window. Since she was in the second floor, she could see the suburb below her. She couldn't help but feel a bit... weird. It was as if the view in front of her didn't make any sense with her. The best description she could think of the view was, wrong. It felt wrong to her and she couldn't tell why.

"I wish I was back in the forest..."

Forest? She couldn't help but feel a bit daze. She couldn't understand why she thought of the forest. Before she knew it, half the day had passed and she was already in the cafeteria. The food that the school gave her was nothing to brag about. Cardboard like pizza with a side of carrots and apple sauce. She also had chocolate milk which she hoped that the best by date was correct. Yet, even the meal she ate felt wrong.

"Doesn't taste as good as that rabbit..."

Again, she was confused. Just what was happening to her to have such thoughts? Not bothering to finish her food, she stood up from her seat.

"Uh, young lady, where do you think you're going?"

"Bathroom."

"Well, you can wa-"

"It's an emergency."

She didn't even let the monitor finish what she was saying as she rushed to the nearest bathroom. As she got closer though, she heard a thud and a muffled whimper.

As if her senses heightened, she began to hear small giggles and more thuds from the restroom. She no longer questioned what was happening to her and instead made her way to the girls bathroom. There, she saw three girls standing over another girl.

"Hey! What do you three think your doing?!"

The three turn to look at her with a frown on their face.

"None of your business."

The lead girl was straight to the point as she turned her back on Liz and kicked the stomach of the girl on the floor. Liz felt angry at the sight and pulled back the bully.

"You better not hit her again."

Liz said, her fingers clutched into a fist.

"Sigh... why is this slut still here. Listen here bitch, what we do is our business. So unless you want that pretty face of yours broken... leave, or else."

The two other girls approached Liz from either side, emphasizing what they were planning on doing to her if she didn't leave. This didn't deter Liz though. Instead, she felt a fire from within her soul. It felt as if her entire body was being consumed by this raging fire and before she knew it, she had already punched the girl in the face.

"You fucker!"

The two tried to tackle her, but to their surprise, Liz simply sidestepped and kicked the one on her left in the stomach. She then did a roundhouse kick to the other girl, catching her on her chest.

"You cunt!"

The first girl had gotten up and saw her two friends on the floor. She tried to punch Liz, but Liz simply pushed her fist aside and punched her once more in the face. The fight had barely begun and had ended with Liz's complete victory. She began to cool down and realized what she had done.

She didn't even check to see if the bullied girl was ok. Instead, she made a run for the schools exit. She then ran and ran, waiting for herself to get tired yet she still felt energized. Rather, she felt as if she could run for days.

This... isn't real.

She thought as she stared at the world around her. She finally realized... everything she saw, everything she felt... it was all nothing but lies. She then stared at her hands and finally realized something.

I... died. My name is Laz. I was a boy... no... I was a wolf. I lived in a forest. I was... I was... the tree. I was talking to the tree, and... and...

Laz blanked out. He couldn't remember what had happened next. He could barely remember the conversation he had with the tree. He felt confused, as if his entire being was a hotpot of ingredients that shouldn't mix.

Who am I... what am I... what am I supposed to be doing?

"Well, I guess I caught you at the right time. Any longer and your soul may have torn itself apart."

Suddenly, a bright light appeared in front of Laz. It quickly disappeared though to reveal a beautiful woman. Beautiful tanned skin with curly brown hair and hazel eyes. A golden laurel adorned her hair which matched a belt that held her toga together. A purple cloak covered her back and she held a shepherds cane that had a bell attached to it.

Laz couldn't help but be attracted to person in front of him. She was beautiful compared to all the women he's seen from his previous world. She smiled, as if she read Laz's mind. Her eyes then widened as if she remembered something important.

"Oh, right. Before I forget, let's fix a small problem shall we."

She then took her cane and placed the bell on the tip of Laz's forehead. He suddenly felt better as if his worries had vanished like a wisp of smoke into the air.

"That's better. Now, I understand you must be very confused about what's happening, so why don't we find a nice a comfy place to stay and I'll answer any questions you may have, ok?"

Laz could only nod and the woman quickly took his hands and led him back into the city.

So. Looking at the poll, I'm going to do half and half. Important/action chapters would probably be between 1500-3000 words while slice of life would be between 800-1200.

Now, looking at the next chapter. Just a fair bit of warning, it's a Q/A session. Q/A is a must since I need a premise for a lot of the MC's abilities. Also, this chapter ties into the Q/A and you'll see why I wrote this chapter. It might be a bit boring so I'll probably release more than one chapter.

Finally, sorry it took so long. Schedules are a bitch to manage. Overall, I hope you guys are enjoying your Christmas/holiday break!
